Thank you everyone for providing such great nominations for your new server names! We have worked to bring the huge list of nominations down to a select few. We have paired up the top names from the nominations, so you'll be voting on the pair of names you'd like to see for the new servers.
You will be able to vote on the new names until this Friday, 9/17/2010, at 5:00 PM PDT. The name that receives the most votes will be used for the new server.

It amazes me that NCsoft still refuses to take notice of the politics and status of their servers. Saying the new EU server is a fresh start is just lol. The new EU server will be Teon Version 2.0. Any large castle holding clan on Franz, Luna or Teon will state this. We know our servers, we know what is going on in game, we know the wars that will remain after the merge, we know exactly what the new server will be like. The fact that NCsoft makes decisions "for the good of the game" while disregarding it's customer base is a plain out fail on their part.
Considering that half of the responses wanted Teon as the name, its obvious that NCsoft didnt really care what our opinion was.
Once you guys take an interest in your community, your game, and the way we play your game, you will end up having a better product and happier customer base. Until then, expect more posts like mine from numerous people because you obviously don't give a **** about our thoughts.

1- You just upgraded server hardware (suposedly). So now youre changing hardware again?
2- Why would it be 2 servers with that name? Youre getting rid of the old ones, arent you?
Trust me. We can't have two servers with the same name, even if one is no longer operating. Remember, we have lots of systems running behind the scenes for billing, and logs, etc. Only one server can ever be named Phoenix. There can never be another Phoenix, or Aria, or Luna, or Teon. So, the following names are not allowed:

I'm wondering cabel, do you even play the game you support? And in play, I mean actually play a character from 1 to 80+ and participate in daily things that us the players do? because your responses (especially the ones that were edited out) really show that you just don't care about our opinions.
You could have came and gave a technical reason in the opening post stating why Teon/Bartz/Phoenix are not available and apologizing for it, and then maybe throwing us a bone and saying that maybe one day an event will be held in remembrance to all the old servers. But instead you decided to have short answers and be completely insulting to the community.

Blah blah blah....regardless of the servers/hardware/software et al being new, the player base is the same and you have ignored the player base of your most popular servers and what were the most 'popular' choices for names. Claiming there would be complications due to identical server names is an absolute lie. If it were true, the PTS would never be named Bartz.
Sadly NCSoft is so disconnected with what it's player base wants it continues to kill a game as it claims to keep it alive. So, despite what asinine name is finally chosen, I'd like to be the first to welcome all the new players from Luna and Franz to Teon...because when it comes down to it, it'll be the same server.

Asking a game developer to take an interest in the game they support is not self righteousness, nor is asking them to better understand their community before making huge changes to the game. The merger is needed, but the manner that NCna is handling it is a joke, just like the last merger.

also, the same thing can be said about ping and server location. people maybe have chosen their server based on ping, but now forcing everyone in NA into 1 NA server basically means their choice before doesn't matter. Is that fair to them? Or do we get a vote on server location as well now?

Exactly my clan is mostly euro that was on devianne prior to euro servers and they are looking at major lag if its anything like PTS server. Location was one of the reason that i chose devianne.

Who is it not fair to? The ten people playing on servers not named Teon/Phoenix? People willingly migrated to Teon & Phoenix. Darwin said it best, "That's evolution baby". Those other servers died alone in a pool of their own filth, twitching their superfluous misshapen 3rd arms. The gesticulation seemed to cry out, "please, end my suffering". Alas, rejoice, your pain is over.
In the end it doesn't matter. However the idea that "It's not fair" is laughable. We are all moving to a new server. The only legitimate reason not to allow Teon/Phoenix, is a database conflict. But that was ruled out with the PTS being named Barts.

So Cabel. You told to us new hardware, new databse etc. So than I hope from october 5th we will get a new and much higher GM activity on these servers (example 24/7 will good) and maybe a better software what is defend much better the servers from the bots like than the currently.
If you can promise it, nobody never will cry for the old names. But the question the next, can you or the ncwest promise this for us and keep it?

The PTS and the live server databases have nothing to do with each other whatsoever. Same as we have Bartz, and the Koreans have Bartz. But within the databases of the NA/europe live servers, there can be only one "Bartz", "Phoenix", ... Would not surprise me if they used the server name as a unique key somewhere. When he says it can't be done, I trust him. I do not want to find out one day that there's some database mixup and half the stuff I mailed to my wh alt vanished into some old server database and cannot be accessed anymore.

I don't think it is necessary or appropriate to go into specific technical details regarding the ins and outs of our servers.

What doesnt make sense with all of this is that you guys stated that all current servers were getting a hardware upgrade, and we had an extended downtime associated with that upgrade. Now you guys say you are making brand new servers instead of reusing what u have. Why would you upgrade all 8 servers for one month of play before you implemented brand new servers?
Are we actually getting brand new servers or are you technicaly transferring all of us to whichever server you decided before was getting the upgrade?
The reason i bring this up is because if u are just beefing up 2 of the current servers that are already live we technically could have voted for past names and NCsoft could have transferred everyone to the winning name choice and then reset all ch's, castles, etc.

Cabel's post regarding the hardware was pointing to the fact that the post merge servers will be new/separate/different pieces of hardware than where you all play now. Not an upgrade per se, but the merged data will be placed on different hardware. As opposed to merging existing server "X" data into server "Y" data. I hope this helps a little.

Sorry, but I still do not buy the whole, 'it is not possible' excuse. Since that is neither here nor there the only thing which can be said is: The illusion of choice, is in fact no choice at all. It would have been better to have dispensed with the illusion of letting the players choose their new server name. You should have announced the server merges and what the new names were to be and been done with it.
As far as 'Teon' people crying tears about this, there's nothing of the sort. Those of you proclaiming such truly fail to realize the reality of what you will be dealing with when you log into the new server with Exile and SilentHorrors. Once again I say, 'Welcome to Teon'.
Truthfully, I hope you can bring it. A True third or Fourth side will be welcomed. But I don't see that happening. What will happen is the same thing that has continued to happen since server merges were available, you will be swallowed up in the politics of Teon. Doubt me if you must but you're only real hope to survive is to accept such a fact and get ready for it.

Lineage II left the role-players behind long ago. This game is about pvp. Lets get real. Even the developers said it.

LOL ... QQ more ... thats what Blah is for ... they took a sampling of the suggestions from a previous thread based on suggestions ... can't fault Nyx, Sace, or Cabel for what they thought was the view from the community suggestions. In this case I thought malaka was a better choice.

Gran Kain has nothing common with Dark elves...his daugther Shillien has. Neither does Einhasad has common with Elves. Einhasad is mother of creation, while Gran Kain is god of destruction but both have common only with humans :)
Gran Kain created them as weak, stupid, sly, and cowardly creatures, while lately during the Shunaiman reign the main goddess of humans became Einhasad who was forgotten by the other races.

Trust me. We can't have two servers with the same name, even if one is no longer operating. Remember, we have lots of systems running behind the scenes for billing, and logs, etc. Only one server can ever be named Phoenix. There can never be another Phoenix, or Aria, or Luna, or Teon. So, the following names are not allowed:
Still variations like NewTeon, Teon&Luna&Franz, TeonisEU, and LastTeon, should be possible. Heck, even Teon1 is possible.

I just checked the nominations and haven't found in them "Chronos". Maybe I missed it if someone show us where is this nomination will be good. Naia is Lotek's suggestion. The others are mention many times.

I fail to see why two forums threads would be started by NCsoftNA for the NA and EU regions for name nominations, only to bundle the poll into a paired name poll! Each region should be able to vote for a new name for their respective region.
A paired region poll only indicates that NCsoftNA has already made the choice for us, with minor options.
Scrap this poll and give a voice to the players of each respective region. A poll for NA and a poll for EU.

If we named a new server Aria, for instance, players not from Aria would feel like they were being moved while players from Aria would feel like they were still at home. It may seem like a small thing, but it's still not fair.
Beyond that, these will be totally new servers, new hardware, new database, etc., and if we named the new server Teon, Phoenix, or any exiting name, we would have two servers with that name and you'll have to trust us, that simply doesn't work, even if one of them is no longer running.
Teon had a good run. Now it's time for a new server name.
The fact under 250 people out of the 6-7000 subscribers L2 has bothered to vote shows the bulk of the playerbase are normal people and they don't really give a **** about what their server is called.

Boxing and botting is normal now as well. Not everyone registers all their accounts here.
Many players use bot parties for funds/mats, this is normal as well, right? For these type of players, merges mean nothing and can only cause more revenue for them. So there is no reason at all for them to post any opinion here, just business as usual.
So far it is pretty clear NA people prefer Chronos and EU people prefer Einhasad .
Thank you NCsoft for srewing us - your playerbase once more by not allowing either NA or EU base to get what they desire ! ( and that is only after your denial to keep TEON and Phoenix because you may actually look as if you deleted all servers and kept 2 instead of deleting all servers and starting 2 new ones - pathetic )

Well good call there, with the merge all banned clan leader clans will be gone forever as the leader will not be transferred.

i got no problem with naia i do have a problem with the process, i think as piro said the names should have been posted on a by server basis. NA names, Euro names separated. Euro probably would have been naia and NA probably would have been Gran Kain ;)
But gotta suck it up still waiting on info on chronos since ive never heard him.
and is there any news on the rest of the info we need ch, names, etc coming out soon? people may need time to delete/move things around ;)

You are right till a certain point, in any large community such as the one that we are involved its always like this a very small percentage of the community uses the forums and everyone knows that :), now other thing that i think that its kinda unfair is that the vote for both names is made together there should be 2 pools 1 for the euro server the other for the na server but thats just my opinion.

how did u not expect ppl to want to keep their server names , your throwing Kain right back onto the Table as in Gran Kain , i am suprised none of those i wanna have teon/phoenix people that spam this post mentioned hey why not Gran Teon or Gran phoenix server yet on this post
I think raidboss names and old server names shouldnt be allowed even if u add some letters in front or back of it .
every old kain player probly voted on that Gran Kain thingy .
to me the only decent poll option u gave us was Chronos & Naia , almost never mentioned anywhere so its fresh names to everyone

Because most people with the Euro servers will vote for Naia (because the word is shorter and sounds better).
And most people on the NA server will vote for Gran Kain. btw Chronos in Russian is very similar to the word "diarrhea" :(
And single of people will vote for the names of monsters in the game.

Is this really a public forum for you to express your inner most feelings and the hopes to change Lineage? Or is this a site run by a corporation to allow the mere 10% of the thousands of users of lineage2 to rant and rave on topics and comments. With their intent probably to just deal with real technical issues and updates. Not deal with all the emotion and irrelevant posts. This forum is only a minor entity in a very large and globally funded company. Executives of NCSoft will never sit in the Company’s boardrooms and read thread by thread the volumes of incoherent nonsense spewed here by this community. We can only hope a select few are subjected to this punishment.
Wake up and step out of the fantasy world you play in, Lineage 2 is not the real world. NCSoft operates in the real world and economics drive many of their decisions. It is a company trying to make money at all cost, they are not here to make you happy, let alone for the 2 seconds it takes you to login.
So what if the choices were already part of the code. Big deal if we really didn’t have any say in the names of the final two servers standing. Yeah, we didn’t get to vote on the merge and how to implement the reduction. Do you think they will put a poll up and ask you if they should just shut everything down?
Ya, sometimes I can't help myself. I apologize. But the actual point still stands. There will be new names. No amount of desire on your part or my part will make Teon a viable name, so vote, and move on.

If NCSoft could make the Server select screen user specific each person could name the servers whatever they want. These user created names are only a reference to the database name. Mine would be something like Server1 but others could have happy hearts and rainbows.
Example:
DrachaVonDrachen logs in to his favorite L2 server Server1 = server1
Joe logs in to his favorite L2 server Teon = server1
Mary logs in to her favorite L2 server Aria = server1
Billy logs in to his favorite L2 server Wonderland = server1
Amber logs in to her favorite L2 server Aden = server1
Gran Kain & Einhasad and Chronon & Naia Head to head!

Why aren't 2 polls? One for NA and one for EU. Like this we'll only see, that the EU or the NA players are more active on the forum... I don't want to decide the NA server name! Why should I? I'm playing on EU server...

I see you guys are really creative to give in game NPC names as server names... You really couldn't sit down and think or just open any dictionary and look up for nice names? (for example, Yaime name is from elven dictionary...).
It's L2 of course I'd want to have an L2 name related server not something random that's just dumb. It makes as much sense as calling one of the servers Legolas or Drizzt or some other ****.

I would suggest a combination of both meaning:
NA: Gran Kain
EU: Naia
I don't like NA to be named like Chronicle or Chrono Citara (old C1 item)

Chronos is an npc in Hunter's, naia is a tower in hellbound, belleth location, might ring a bell, I assume both have some lore associated to them but a) I don't care about lore and b) the english translation of L2 lore stops with interlude so chances are we 're just missing their part in the story
if u find gran kain that good then do it for the Eu server name , we want Chronos not the Kain reborn server

Gran Kain is allowed becouse of the Einhasad. I supposed all of us know who are they. And that this is the best possible name couple in Lineage. The creation and the destruction, the light and the dark, male and female and so on.

Btw, interesing, was 8 servers... now will be only 2... so... if we had X GMs for 8 servers, so now this X GMs will work on ONLY 2 SERVERS!! So prolly now we will get 3rdparty\bot\etc protection? ;)
