It was a form of blackmail/extortion towards NCNA. Good enough reason to close it in my eyes, hell a threat like that should get all associated accounts BANNED!

Is a negative review at a games review site a form of blackmail/extortion? The reviewer's job is basically to rate games based on the level of quality. If the game isn't good, the reviewer gives it a poor rating, potentially affecting the sales of the game.
Was Consumer Reports' suggestion not to buy the iPhone 4 due to its antenna problems a form of blackmail/extortion? Consumer Reports basically said not to get the iPhone 4 until Apple fixes the antenna issues.
Is a line of picketers outside some corporate office a form of blackmail/extortion? The protesters are essentially saying that they don't approve of the corporation's practices/services/whatever, and that they won't stop picketing until the corporation changes their stance.
Would any protesters on any college campus on any day against a range of political/economic/social establishment a form of blackmail/extortion?
In this case, there is no illegal activity going on - Rohrimm (or however you spell his name) is not using illegal tactics to get what he wants. Rohrimm is exercising his rights as a consumer/human being to have an opinion and expressing it by closing his site and puting up a message for people read if they want to read it; he is protesting NCSoft's stance at the very most.

Do you even understand the term "Blackmail" or "Extortion"? You are the reason "offical" forums are next to useless.

Just want to double check real quick... DrachaVonDrachen is the name of your toon, right? This way there is no misunderstanding when one of us finds you in game and PKs you.

He made demands that NCSoft must comply with or he will withhold services to many users of Lineage 2.
Extortion:
Customer: I wont be advertising your services anymore, nor I will help your customers for free because you dont help them as you should...
Company: Gee, we should cancel our services to you without refund because of this extortion, because DrachaVonDrachen said so and we think we are within our rights to defend against terrorism and intimidation, gee, you made us scared, we'll sue you for compensations, besides you have no right to any service from us no matter if you pay them or not, read the fine print...

You guys are finally getting it. He is taking his ball away because he is upset and the rest of us can no longer play kick ball. Unless, the city paints some lines on the street and puts up a scoreboard.
NCSoft doesn't care if that site comes back or not, it was just spreading all their secrets and destroying the game anyway. If they wanted us to know all that stuff he leaked out they would just have posted it on the official site. It was just another form of cheating this great game.

WOW. I did not look at it that way at all. I saw it as the creator of that fan site closed the site down until NCNA admits to their mistake and restores the TW Badges. It is his site and he can do what he wants with it. That is the joy of having a free society.

My original response was to the OP, it goes back to the basic concept that all this Lineage2 stuff belongs to NCSoft, including the content of these forums, and they closed the other thread because of the way that subscriber presented his action of closing his site. I never argued against his rights to do whatever he wants with his site. I stated that his demands in the other thread could be interpreted as intimidation by the misuse of his influence over the community.
With that said why would NCSoft want to allow a thread that appears to be extortion a continued presence on their forums?
Extortion ? You dont get it, do you ?
I have a site where I promote a product for free and I give tips to consumers on how to use it better, also for free. The company that makes that product decides to rob the consumers by giving them less than what they payd for, then redirect them to the contract where they say they dont have to do anything for the money they charge.
I decide to stop the free promotion and PR I was making and announced the customers about that, as well as the company saying I wont be doing until they start to actually earn the money they get.
If that is extortion, I am the Pope, the old one...

The monthly fee we pay them is for reasonable access to their content. Everything else is supplied to us free of charge. The content, which includes the accounts and everything in game that is associated with said account, belong to NCSoft. The forums and customer support are provided to us for free.
The term âPaid Servicesâ is duly title and should reduce confusion with those services. Unfortunately, most of our community are so confused and require a better understanding of what their parentâs money is actually funding and what they agree to every time they enter the game.
This lack of knowledge in reference to NCSoft licensing/subscriptions saddens me.
Look I could care less if you shut your website down, just drop the hero act. Actions like yours in the name of this community will not get NCSoft to kiss your feet and do what you want.

True that.
It must also be true that NCwest is just a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to waste the assets (intellectual property) given to them by their parent company: via improper management, non-existent promotion and horrible support.
That's why they must not care about publicity, customers' feedback, increase in subscription numbers and revenues in general, and so on.
Of course they do not care about competitiveness in general, since they only want to keep shrinking as fast as possible, until they can happily report to their Korean bosses that the liquidation of their NA subsidiary has completed successfully.

It's not extortion or blackmail towards NCNA. I don't even know how you came to that conclusion.
He was providing a service to Lineage 2 players. He pulled said service because he didn't like the way NCNA was handling Lineage 2. If anything, he's extorting the players to take action against NCNA (for good reason, I add).
P.S. Just because we pay NCNA doesn't mean we no longer have the right to criticize the way they run things, both paid for and given to us.

Did I get you right?
I never stated any of the crazy stuff you are going on about. The facts are painfully obvious that NCSoft makes a ton of money with their Asian subscriptions and can absorb the cost of allowing US & EU servers to operate. I am pretty sure they are making something or like any business they would shut us down. If they reduce the overhead cost on supporting this product they can maintain or increase profits. If you need to deny man hours to fix âminorâ problems to keep profits you do it. It is a balancing act I donât pretend to understand but I know this fantasy game is directly tied to the reality of economics. Sadly some of these decisions may kill a dragon or two.
Perspective seems to be lost once again. Most of us play every day and will keep playing until the servers shut down. These âissuesâ come and go and we keep playing day after day. As I have mentioned before, stop talking about it and leave already or shut up and go play the game.

Do you mean they keep US & EU servers just out of sheer charity?
When you start a business, you expect it to be steadily growing, or at least giving you stable revenues.
If it's growing, you are managing it right.
If it's shrinking, you must change something in your decision making, or else you fail.
Take a look at the current number of official L2 servers and overall numbers of subscriptions and compare it to what it's been 5 years ago. And ask yourself a rhetoric question what's up with that.
Now, who's to blame, the game itself or the management?
And before someone comes up with the same broken records ("a MMO's life span is too short", "L2 could not stand a chance against WoW", "L2 is an old game and can't compete on the market anymore" etc etc), just ask yourself why is it still successful in Korea, growing well in Russia, and so on?

I just did a word scan and found no words related to or an exact match to charity. I did see these statements while searching:
I am pretty sure they are making something or like any business they would shut us down.

Bottom line is they are still making good profits in US & EU otherwise we wouldnât be having this conversation.
You are a bit deluded . Linage ( not Lineage2 ) in EU and US is making profits ?
Are you kidding ? Do you lack a basic understanding of business ?
Im speechless , you MUST have popped out from some hole in the ground 30 days ago if you spouting those NONSENSE .
Lineage and Lineage 2 in US/EU territories exist only for the bragging rights for NC Soft Korea - meaning : We DONT need and dont get profit enough to maintain servers overseas BUT we do because we CAN !
There are financial statements reports and tons of data out there free to view .
Are you a robot who cannot think and never actually read this forum before the TW badges problem occur ? I see people tell you something , you ignoring it no matter right or wrong , and you continuing with your bull **** !
GOD **** I WANT THE SAME STUFF NC WEST PAY YOU TO KEEP THIS **** UP !!
I am pretty sure they are making something or like any business they would shut us down.
You are pretty wrong. NC Interactive (the NCsoft subsidiary responsible for operating our servers) makes its "business" at 20% loss.
