I tried to translate the interview with NcSoft by 'PF Johan' of 'PlayForum' in Korea.
Those of you on Chronos... If anybody could help me a bit so I can stay longer... only two people tried to help me so far (Now four, thank you.), but hundreds whispers me and asks questions when I log on.. 'Are you the guy from forum?'
Unlike most others that translates and shares info here while they play here anyway, I have to pay real money just to share the info even though I don't really play here. It's becoming a burden.
Anyway, here's the interview... enjoy.
Interview with the ‘GOD’ develop team

The expectation of the Lineage 2 players on the 'Godess of Destruction' is at peak.
There are so many contents scheduled to be updated, not even of those from last year's 'Freya' or 'Hi-fives' comes close in size to compare to what's coming up.
The 'GOD' contains 2 years of work and development in one package that are being release all at once as they have mentioned on last year's interview.
We visited NcSoft on April 20th to take a glimpse at what's up ahead.
Creative director Jae-hyuk Han, Battle design team leader Taek-lim Nam, Level design team leader Goong-gon Nam and one another associate gathered for the interview.
â–*Update status
To cut to the chase, the 'GOD' will go on the PTS on early May.
It's currently on the test phase within the company mess. The opinions of our employees and the opinions of the players from 'Hi-Five' are being reinforced.
Surprisingly, even those who didn't extend the time play on the account can participate in the public test. Any current live users can transfer their characters to the test server to check out the updates.
One chance to change your class will be given. However, there's no chance to change your race.
Because there's no chance to change your race, those races that has disadvantage on the stats like the elf will be reinforced on its stats.
â–* Q&A related to items.
- What is the 'blessed' item?
Few of you probably already have noticed a word 'unidentified' or 'limited' in front of the name of an item on the screen shot.
(FYI- There was no screen shot of what they were referring to on the original interview. They are probably referring to the screen shots from other articles.)
The 'R' grade weapon is 'unidentified' when first acquired. It can be exchanged or dropped. If you double click on the item in the inventory, it unlocks to either the 'limited' or the 'blessed'.
The 'limited' cannot be exchanged. The 'blessed' item increases P.dam/M.dam by twice when enchanted, and can be exchanged.
The 'Limited' item can be released by a special item. It's going to be very hard to acquire though. When released, it can be changed to the 'blessed' randomly.
- Please introduce more on the 'R' Grade items.
There are R85, R95 and R99 available. There are total of six different kinds of sets including the rare sets. The bonus effects on the R95 will have high and low grade. The rare sets will have very powerful bonus effects.
- What benefit does the different types of armors offers that has type like the 'magic power' in front of its name?
The new armors now have 'Defensive', 'Reinforced', 'Magic Power', 'Recovery' and 'Offensive' styles. The bonus effects are different based on the types.
For example, the 'Magic Power' will have additional 'Wit' where the 'Defensive' has additional 'Con'.
- How do you craft the 'R Grade Soulshots'?
The 'R' grade soulshots can be created with common craft skill, thus everyone can craft it now. Even the belts, the shirts and the bracelets can be crafted with common skill. However, dwarves will have an advantage.
Because the Fortune seeker is now becoming a rogue, all rogues can spoil the mobs. There's no need to use the 'spoil' and the 'swipe' skills anymore. The new 'steal' skill will do its job.
- Is it true the armor will now have maximum of 4500 elements?
To cut to the chase, this plan has been cancelled. In Hi-Five test, we had 300 elements (instead of current 120) of 3 different kinds on each armor piece. Total of 4500 elements were possible.
Based on the internal test, we have decided to keep current 1800 elements on the armor, and 300 on the weapon.
- How do you craft the 'Dual blunt' weapons?
By combining two different blunt weapons.
We are also considering combining totally different kinds of weapons. It's still in concept and could be implemented after the 'GOD' update.
Additionally, the blunt weapon has been reinforced to add more critical instead of accuracy.
- The sales fee of 0.7%?
The new market system charges around 0.7% fees per day.
The develop team strongly believes the personal store is an important bases and culture of L2. They don't want to see them disappear. Thus high priced items will most likely still be sold by the personal stores; rather cheap items are probably going to be sold on the new market system.
- Any upgrades on current rare items?
When a new item and the current rare accessories get combined, it will be changed to the 'blessed' rare accessories and thus the effects will increase.
The new 'earth worm' raid will drop the new rare accessory.
The ‘Estana’, ‘Oxtabis’ raid will drop the rare items, but not the accessories, instead a belt... etc.
-How do you get double options like 'acumen' + 'mana up'?
Besides the current red, green, blue crystals, we'll be adding the yellow, bluish green, purple crystals. You can add second options with these three additional crystals. The additional crystals are going to be dropped by the raid bosses.
However, getting same type options like 'acumen' + 'acumen' or 'focus' + 'focus' are impossible.
- It seems new classes can use many different kinds of weapons. Are there any restrictions on the skills based on the weapons?
It doesn't matter the kinds of the weapon being used to use skills. However, the effects are different.
- Isn't the Win-Summoner at disadvantage for summoning a pet since they summon multiple creatures?
Having sumonner class being excluded on some events due to not being able to summon a pet was very sad. Now besides the summoned creatures, they can summon a pet separately.
- The Dominator and the doomcryer are going to be merged to same class. Is there still going to be any difference since they are going to be same class (Eath Enchanter) AND same race?
The current skills don't disappear all at once. So depends on what's left, in the beginning they are still going to be different. However, at the end they will be one.
- We want to know about the reward on the oe’d skills when exchanged. For example, 25 oe'd skill and 30 oe'd skills requires much more effort and sp's than in just numbers.
We will give out an item (couldn’t translate the name) that can be used to oe awakened skills based on the current oe’d skills level. Higher the oe’d skill level; more the reward will be given.
The rewards are given automatically when awakened, you will get back about 70% of SP spend.
FYI- We don't want the players not able to learn the new skills due to shortage of SP. Currently, 2kkk limit will be increased, and you shouldn’t worry about SP related issue.
- There are those who refuses to learn the new awakening skills. Instead, they want to keep current skills.
It is possible to opt not to learn new skills. You can even level up all the way up to lvl.99 without learning the new skills. However, the effectiveness of the many new awakened skills are improved over the current skills after the ‘Hi-Five’. We don't see that many will take this route.
â–* Hunting Ground/ Raid Q&A
- Any support for the light users?
We have created a new ‘blessed elixir’. This item is similar to the 'cocktail'. It will give the awakened buff of the 'Eath enchanter'. But, it's not good enough to replace the buff of the actual 'Eath Enchanter'.
- How many people can participate on the new ‘Earth worm’ raid?
The 'Earth worm' raid has limit of 200 people. Players over lvl.85 can participate.
Unlike the ‘Antharas’, the stats of the raid boss doesn’t change based on the numbers of people participated. We hope the players participates on this raid participates as many as possible.
The Earth worm will drop the boss jewel just like the Antharas, Valakas and the Frintesha.
- We were told that the lowbies can level up very quickly now. Give us more info on that please?
Now it's possible to level up from 1 to 40 by completing the quests only. The rewarded gears have been improved also. It will take about 3 hours to reach the level 40. It's easier to complete the class change quest too.
The new quest system will show improved arrows and marks for the NPC on the mini map to encourage more fun experience while completing the quests.
- The instance dungeon system gets additional system.
You can obtain the 'voucher of traveler' from field type hunting ground. You will get some additional rewards if you clear the instance dungeon with this item.
â–* Q&A on other subject
- Any changes on the server transfer?
To prevent the players from changing the server expediently, there will be a restriction once transferred for a while.
(FYI - Probably has nothing to do with US/EA servers. There's lots of issue with the server transfer in Korea among PVP clans. Many top PVP clans have power over many servers and transfer players to overpower the servers.)
It's already been 7 years since the lineage 2 launched.
The develop team seemed much stressed and were as thin as stick as ever when we went to interview them.
However, they were very passionate about the 'GOD' update and were eager to share the information
The glimpse that I was able to see were much improved graphics, loads of contents that will bring the new and the returns, attention and supports for the light users, and I felt it's not hard at all.
It seemed that they were putting lots of effort to trying to go back to the original lineage 2 concept of the 'party play' style bases.
Let's wait and see if their effort pays off after the 'GOD' update goes on after May.

All hope that one could keep old skills and upgrade them to higher level skills of the same type of skills just went out the window. This sucks donkey.

there is nothing else to say about that.
if i'd known that i would have picked warcryer/doomcryer in past times.
would have saved me days of solo grinding.
furthermore i am going to be transformed into a singing buffing heavy armor dual wielding close combat melee fighter without any magic abilities at all (except transforming targets into fairies whohoo).
if i wanted to be a heavy armor close combat melee character i would have picked duelist.
the dominator was a unique hybrid class with huge abilities and also weaknesses. you must be freak to chose this as you mainclass and what i become is an overhead class in 'GOD'
the party size will be reduced to 7 guess what class will be kicked first from all constants...
Looking forward to shout "enchanter LFP" together with a million other enchanters out there.

Not offer to the Development Team to give us a total bad update. I'm sure in it if may it will happen, than in the next update they will solve the problems.

You don't really know that (although I don't know what class you are). There has been no description of what the new enchanter skills will be like (magical/physical/mixed) and what type of armor and weapons will be best suited for them. The sure thing is that some of the existing classes will be serious altered, since according to their stats and skills, the bd/sws are physical type characters, prophets magical type, ol/wc/inquisitor more like hybrids. Some classes will get the short end of the stick :(
Im still trying to get a reason to keep up my boxed acc. There will be tons of equal enchanters and depending on how the buffs are setted it will be a pain to box them. Atm i can choose to play my tanker or my second acc with dominator, or just solo boxing, i already quit to grind my lvl 80 hiero cause i was dreaming my dominator would still be usefull but with so many doomcryers arround well, seems ill not play any of them.

What super good updates?
After Hellbound update people start quiting and quiting and noone came back,just keep quiting.They took game in a wrong way and now they give the final push to completly destroy it.Once GOD goes live,L2 wont exist anymore.

as we have had this argument before I can understand why a prophet would be happy with the upcoming changes while most of the other "enchanters" are really not happy about and even when everyone quit their boxed pet buffer (dc/pp) there will still be significantly more enchanters left then the new demand for the class in GoD..
the current approach to this issue by the korean dev team seems to be to give the option to change class when starting 4th class change quest but that's just insulting to those who loved their old class and now have been made obsolete. being "forced" to reroll is not nice nor funny.
will be very interesting to see how this will pan out in korea.. see if there really will be that many korean players that accept these changes and reroll to another "more needed/wanted" class
simple math:
9ppl party has at least 3 enchanters and GoD 7ppl party has only 1 enchanter so 2/3 enchanters will be faced with the "to reroll", "suck it up" or "quit" issue.. NC Soft can do the statistics themselves easily as they know precisely how many bd/sws/dc/pp/ol/judi exist that are 84/85 on their servers.
ps, theoretically 1/3 of the 2/3 of soon to be jobless enchanters could remain enchanter if the rest would reroll and make parties with them but even so all of them still have to face the initial question of reroll or suck it up or quit..
i am sorry i cannot help you in-game. i would - except i have become rather busy with preparations for a new job and possibly a move to a new city.
i wish you all the best, sir, you have shown the north american community more in your short time here about the korean game and its style than we dreamt. you have made my own head hang in shame at our terrible community.

Common Craft means a player needs the Create Common Item skill, assuming it is level 11 common craft, any player with this level of common craft can get it.
just exactly what level of common craft it is, is unclear. as is the extension of the rest of common crafting.
since dwarfs can become dagger classes at 20, and the Spoil/Sweep is useless i would say they revamped the entire level 20-99 for dwarf and rogue skill trees.

Yeah, I was on inactive status., I was able to log on to the forum because of the free activated account from the event.

Nobody is forcing you to share information. You came to play on our servers by your own will. Besides, there are a couple other popular message boards where people share your same exclusive information, and posting there is free! No subscription is necessary!

Just because you play on the korean server, or have a high lvl character, or have information that we dont have, or pay three times our subscription times 3 boxes that you own, doesn't make you any better than the rest of us; you're sitting on the same floor as us, and you are not entitled to any special treatments as you not-so-subtlety hint at it.

Elmar does translations, shares info with us, and he never asks for anything; but, of course, I believe he deserves stuff for this very same fact.

Your servers are like they are because you dont play the "korean way", but nothing can be done about that...

Just because you play on the korean server, or have a high lvl character, or have information that we dont have, or pay three times our subscription times 3 boxes that you own, doesn't make you any better than the rest of us; you're sitting on the same floor as us, and you are not entitled to any special treatments as you not-so-subtlety hint at it.

Yeah, I was on inactive status., I was able to log on to the forum because of the free activated account from the event.
I tried to post many new info before, but without paying for the account, I couldn't.. and I just didn't see any meaning of reactivating it at the time.
As soon as I was able to log on again due to the event, I wrote this thread to share little what I know about the updates. :)

as we have had this argument before I can understand why a prophet would be happy with the upcoming changes while most of the other "enchanters" are really not happy about and even when everyone quit their boxed pet buffer (dc/pp) there will still be significantly more enchanters left then the new demand for the class in GoD..
the current approach to this issue by the korean dev team seems to be to give the option to change class when starting 4th class change quest but that's just insulting to those who loved their old class and now have been made obsolete. being "forced" to reroll is not nice nor funny.
will be very interesting to see how this will pan out in korea.. see if there really will be that many korean players that accept these changes and reroll to another "more needed/wanted" class
simple math:
9ppl party has at least 3 enchanters and GoD 7ppl party has only 1 enchanter so 2/3 enchanters will be faced with the "to reroll", "suck it up" or "quit" issue.. NC Soft can do the statistics themselves easily as they know precisely how many bd/sws/dc/pp/ol/judi exist that are 84/85 on their servers.
ps, theoretically 1/3 of the 2/3 of soon to be jobless enchanters could remain enchanter if the rest would reroll and make parties with them but even so all of them still have to face the initial question of reroll or suck it up or quit..
Well, i have lvl 84 fortune seeker and lvl 85 adventurer too, I could be angry because they now will have same same 4th classes, but I'm not angry.
I think won't be total same the two classes after the 4th class change.

well if that would be true then the downsizing of the max party size doesn't make any real sense unless each class would be good for a specific party set up but I kind of doubt that..
also when developers say that in the end there will be no difference between ol & dc then that gives me not much hope for the other enchanter classes but let's see after Korean PTS as so far nobody came with a good suggestion on what to do with the surplus of enchanters in GoD..

Always some people quit for their personal reasons but for the mass of quitings the reason was these people stopped enjoying game and didnt sit down to post in this forum and ask for changes or keep up with the hope things will be different in a future update like we did.Botting and ebay was from the start on some servers like Franz and Luna publicly advertised in giran but players were registering and played,if those people were allergic in the idea of bots they woulnd play a second month.
People left when they saw there's no way to make ends meet in these servers without having to ebay,not for items,but simply to have adena to move around,buy shots ect.
(remember ,no events or rewards were ****).
The phrase ''pls give 100k to teleport,or can u give me 2m to buy shots,were so common among players because people that didnt ebay were depending from having a drop and sell it to make adena for their daily xp.
People left when they saw the class they enjoyed so much playing getting nerfed over and over,like mages and archers.
Left because players without having a ''full party'' including classes noone was using before,couldnt do nothing and they saw the top clans-partys just bot lvled those classes and auto-box them for pvp or farm.
People left when they couldnt do a simple pvp 1s1,which was the prime reason for them to play L2 and have fun,because all were boting(since lvling was so hard and since they would be broke if no 24/7 drops) and were auto-rr if enemy,or because almost anyone had epics (from ebay) and a dd without couldnt do anything,not win in pvp ever,not get invited in a good clan,not do anything inside oly.
Left when they saw any strong new skill was for Kamaels and daggers only who became practicaly umbeatable for legit players.(remember hide?)
Left when sieges became a screen full of flashes ,sparkles and mass stuns,disarmed,hidden daggers,laging the area,leaving behind for ever any role the classes of L2 had.
Hellbound with the restrict of 78 to enter really made so much people angry because they couldnt play there since their supports couldnt enter,and lvling back then without any vit event at all was a pain.People were quiting when they saw the same bottrains to keep boting no matter what petitions they sent(notice,those bottrains belonged or were working for the dominating clan of server which was making quicky lvling when lvl raised and easy adena from the unique drops of HB).People didnt mind about bots that were just bots(and were holding a spot not bothering anyone),didnt mind if those accounts belong to someone who is selling adena as a job,they got frustrated with all the players that used bottrains to make fortunes pking anyone who would dare go xp near their train and monopolized all new items and ofc hero(and they are still monopolizing).
People that saw new freya areas,realised very soon they wont be able to catch up anyone if they return,in terms of adena/gear first of all,since bans became so frequent and RMT became so expensive.
For all these reasons,i remember still the names of toons or real names of the people i knew and quit and they are hundreads.
If Yidao asked for it, I would gladly send him up to 3 time cards for 30 days each.
For destructor, nothing. His work seem sloppy compared to Yidao's, and deserve no rewards.

As far I remember you can use second transformation to run out from PvP :D

For the differance between class, race skill will make a differance .
Up date to up date Ncsoft should start to give special skill to class of each race but that this skill will be similary " Exemple from dagger at 83 : Exiting adventure , Wind riding , Ghost walking that are similary and differant at same time, or again for tank : Flame Icon ,Touch of Eva , Spirit of Shilen ,are similary but differant".
We can't know what will come after GoD but its still a possibility

Just a step into this discussion, I am grateful for work both of these guys are doing. Knowing Yidao aka Elmar personally, he also had to sacrifice a lot to provide the community with the latest translations. And he did it because he loves this game as we all do (me at least).
Destructor has brought other view into the the info we get from Korea, it's not just a translation, it is more of a hand-on-experience that he is sharing with us. He decided that he want to to it and I would have no problem helping him (as I helped Elmar in a certain way) with his play if I would be on NA server.
If you don't like how are his translations made, that his English is not correct or whatever else, just don't read his responses at all. I appreciate that he is posting it on official boards as it is nice to have it in one place and not spread through the other fan sites with a fear of site closure as it happened with elliebelly.
So destructor keep a good work and don't be upset about negative responses. We are self-centered community and one has to deal with it accordingly.

Destructor dont mind people, some just dont know how too appreciate somethings people do. They always live in their on world and only their opinion counts. you just have too let what those people write vanish from your mind as soon as u read it. They arent worth your time.
And its typical that the people that bit^&CH the most dont do anything for the community, just post endless rant and how they are better.
Destructor, everybody who is interested in game content applauds your effort and help, first and foremost me. Being a professional translator I am fully aware how much time it takes to translate something like that developer interview. I myself nowadays simply don't have the time to do such long translations and I am really glad that you have stepped in :)
My characters are fairly well equiped for their age and with the chaos prevailing at NCWest I certainly won't touch my master account to change from automatic credit card billing to any time cards people might send me, but I do receive help from friends like MYSTERica or Draecke. Being informed when somewhere the tax rate is at 0% so I can stock up on Soul Ore is quite substantial help, not to mention MYSTERica and the Unity clan inviting me into their badge farming parties so I could become noble :D
Rohirrim, the proprietor of the website, is European and culturally closer to what you are accustomed to from Korea. But he has a real life and there is a certain probability that he will have to shut down his site one day. I personally see this as a bonus. The interview you are translating will be outdated when/if the PTS gets updated on May 11. Here on this forum it will remain until NCWest files for bankruptcy, and it will be referred to by people who do not understand that any information is only of temporary value and can be a basis for discussion at best.
It's up to you. If you want your work to stay, better stick with the official forum and simply ignore the flame :)

Destructor, just let them rage, the more you try to argument more fuel you give for some people that the only reason they have to come to these forums is to try to make others people life worse, most of them envy what you do cause all what they can do is paste things that they copy from ellibelly and now from rochand or put some **** translated form google translator. C3 launch on US and Europe servers was around May 2005 and C4 launch around April 2006 if I remember correctly.
From some of the outside analysis (and not from "your blog sucks" sites) at the time the Q1 2006 financial releases put Lineage at a loss of 800K and Lineage 2 at a loss of 200K (total 1 million users). They go on to say that the losses are all in Korea and not in US/Europe; in addition they say that those losses could have went to other NCSoft games that were released at the time.

We still have 30 servers.
They need to do some serious advertising to do. Don't understand why they don't. Most people simply don't know about the L2 here in US or Europe.
I bet lots of WOW lovers will get hooked on to the L2 if they knew about it. Many of my friends playing with me used to play WOW like 3, 4 years.

i played some time on ruoff with english client but now if u try u get dc at 2 mins...
not sure but i think u still can play somehow wtih english client
ruoff is f2p but u can pay for premium acc wich means xp and drop x2
