Hero's Treasure Chest - Important Notes


To open a Hero's Treasure Chest, the character must be level 20 or above and have passed the first class transfer, into D-grade.
Opening the chest automatically detects what class or subclass you are at that moment. Before opening the Hero's Treasure Chest, be certain that you are on the class/subclass that you want to use the items on!

Example: Your main class is a Human Mage class, and your subclass is a Dark Elf Knight class. If you are on the subclass when you open the Hero's Treasure Chest, you will get the Knight Class item sets. If you are on your main class, you will get the Mage Class item sets.


Hero's Treasure Chests can be shared to other characters on the same server and same game account by speaking to a Dimensional Merchant NPC in-game. The chest can only be shared this way when unopened: once the chest is opened, no transfers or item shares are possible. Changes to expiration timers (5/10/2011): When you open the chest, you will get a single pack item that starts a 90-day expiration timer. Open that pack, you get a class-type-specific equipment pack with starts on its own 90-day expiration timer. Open the equipment pack and get about 10 to 15 grade-specific armor set packs, grade-specific jewelry set packs, and weapon-type-specific packs, each with its own 90-day timer. When you open one of those packs, you reach the equippable items, each with its own 90-day timer. For more information about expirations, scroll down to the expiration section of this post.
Any unopened Hero's Treasure Chests will be removed from the game on August 17, 2011. By simply opening the chest before this date, you will not be affected by the removal. All of the items inside the chest will not be removed from the game as they will expire on their own timer.
All of the items inside the chest cannot be enchanted, augmented or altered in any way, with the exception of all S-grade items, which can be assigned an attribute.

Hero's Treasure Chest - Expiration Timers

May 10, 2011: Positive changes have been made to the expiration timers of the Hero's Treasure Chest's contents. Please read this before you open yours.

It used to be that when you open the chest, everything inside it (all of the packs and equippable items) are on the same 90-day timer. Now, there is a separate 90-day timer for every single pack (a pack is the pearl-like item in your inventory).

To understand how that change will affect you, you need to understand how the Hero's Treasure Chest produces its contents. This is what happens when you open a Hero's Treasure Chest:


Hero's Treasure Chest (no expiration, but will be removed from the game on August 17, 2011)

Equipment Set Pack (90 day expiration that starts right away)

[insert class type here] Class Set Pack (This has its own 90 day expiration that starts right away.)

D-Grade armor set pack (its own 90-day timer)
C-Grade armor set pack (its own 90-day timer)
B-Grade armor set pack (its own 90-day timer)
A-Grade armor set pack (its own 90-day timer)
S-Grade armor set pack (its own 90-day timer)
S-Grade armor set pack (its own 90-day timer)
D-Grade jewelry set pack (its own 90-day timer)
C-Grade jewelry set pack (its own 90-day timer)
B-Grade jewelry set pack (its own 90-day timer)

When you open one of those armor, jewelry, or weapon packs, the items inside will start their own 90-day expiration timer.

Here's an example to show you how the timers work:

You are a level 50 Bladedancer and you are going to use your Hero's Treasure Chest.
You open it and get a single item called "Equipment Set Pack" that has a 90-day expiration. You open the equipment pack (it disappears and its timer disappears with it) and get a single item called "Knight Class Set Pack" that has it's own 90-day timer. You open the Knight Class Set Pack and get 15 new items, one for each armor set, one for each jewelry set, and one for each type of weapon your class type can use (Knight classes generally use dualswords, one-handed swords, or blunt weapons). Each with its own 90 day timer. As a level 50 Bladedancer, you are in C-grade. So you open up the following packs:


Full Plate of Fortune Set Pack
Sealed Set of Fortune
Dualsword of Fortune Set

You open the Full Plate of Fortune Set Pack and receive Full Plate Armor, Gauntlet, Boots, Helm and Shield, all on their own freshly-started 90-day timer.

You open the Sealed Set of Fortune pack and receive necklace, earrings and rings of Seal, all on their own freshly-started 90-day timer.

* Note that weapon-type packs deliver all of its grades at once. *

You open the Dualsword of Fortune Set, you receive:


+4 Bastard Sword*Elven Sword (D-grade)
+4 Spirit Sword*Raid Sword (C-grade)
+4 Samurai Long Sword*Samurai Long Sword (B-grade)
+4 Tallum Blade*Damascus (A-grade)
+4 Dynasty Dualsword (S-grade)

+4 Tallum Blade*Dark Legion's Edge (S-grade)

All of these dualswords are now counting down on their own freshly-started 90-day timer.

You equip your Full Plate armor, the Sealed jewelry, and the C-grade dualsword. You store all the rest of the packs (other weapons, other armor and jewelry packs) and the other dualswords in your warehouse. You go XP. One day later, you get to level 52, when you can start to use B-grade equipment. You return to your warehouse and take out the B-grade armor pack, the B-grade jewelry pack, and the B-grade dualsword. When you open the B-grade armor back, you receive the Doom Plate armor set, on its own freshly-started 90-day timer. When you open the B-grade jewelry pack, you receive the Black Ore jewelry set, on its own freshly-started 90-day timer. Your B-grade dualsword has been counting down since when you opened the Dualsword Weapon Pack yesterday. You go XP, hoping to get to level 60 before your A-grade armor pack, A-grade jewelry pack, and A-grade dualsword expire in 89 more days...

If you click on the little "anniversary subscription promotion" banner in your account settings, you get the option to change your current subscription to the "3 months, one month free" subscription. It then tells you that you will be billed after your current subscription runs out, but the status of your subscription immediately changes (at least it did for me, so I am now on the anniversary special plan even though I will be billed in two months or so). Even without getting items, "3 months, one month free" is better than the old "3 months and nothing free" :)

normal vesper set bonus doesn't give 'open cloak slot' - that's why it's impossible to wear any kind of cloak with it.
And have absolutly no idea why it's the only s80/84 set which doesn't give it :eek:

It is so people dont waste money on anything lower then s80 sets I guess.

You can potentially save millions of adena if you are 60 something now open the box at 76 and make it 80/81 with the free sgrade.

With all the vit pots, pops, masks, agathions and shadow items if your not 80+ in the next 90 days just quit L2 seriously.

No one's main should be under 76 if they started before this event by the end of next month.

I will likely be 85 and 100% after this month and probably get to maxing out my subs finally lol (Currently 83 and 55%)

It really doesn't matter since all the items are shadow items and will disappear after 90 days.

ofcourse it matters, if I am level 20 when the event starts it would be unwise to open the chest and get a D-grade set which will be old in 2 days when I get to c-grade. However if there's some option to change between sets, or if you get all d - s grade it wouldn't matter and I wouldn't lose anything by opening the chest while I'm in d-grade.

with the double xp and vitality junk you will level quickly. at the end of the 90 days, you will have no weapon, no armor, no jewels and no money to replace them with real gear on your S80 toon. enjoy.

But if I don't use the 90 day shadow stuff I will have money and real gear? Or did I missunderstand what you meant? Even if I don't use the shadow stuff I will level fast, but not as fast. This will give me time to gather more adena while leveling, sure, but I could just as well use the shadow items to level faster, get to a higher level and farm with the shadow weapons before they dissapear. This will net me more adena, correct? Not trying to sound rude, I'm just asking if I'm missing something

Some answers to questions have already been given, but I will clarify further:

- The new player obtain armor and weapons for the grade on which curently is (1x)
- The new player obtain all the armors grade and weapons ?

and other similar questions or +1sWhen you open the Hero's Treasure Chest, you get all of the items for your class at once-- all armor, all weapons, all jewelry, all grades-- and all with 90 days expiration day starting from when you open the chest.

Each set of items is in its own box, so don't worry about your warehouse or inventory being completely filled up with stuff.

Say you're a human mage, of any grade. You will open the chest and now have more boxes filled with stuff, all expiring. If you're in C-grade, you can open your Karmian Robe Set box and equip it. Leave the B-, A-, and S-grade armor boxes in your warehouse; they're only 1 item slot each. Then you need a weapon, so you open the weapons box. All of your weapons, D-grade through S-grade will be produced. Equip the C-grade weapon and put the rest in warehouse. Open your C-grade jewelry box (Seal) and equip it. But the other jewelry boxes in your warehouse.

Once you hit B-grade, go back to your warehouse for that stuff.

If you are D-grade and you believe it will take more than 90-days to reach S-grade (hey, it could happen), then you might choose to not open the Hero's Treasure Chest until you get to C-grade or higher. That is up to you. Purchasing and receiving and sharing the Hero's Treasure Chest does not start the 90-day timer. The timer only starts when you open it (double-click on it). Keep that in mind, and you can choose how to best use the chest and its contents. :)

Don't worry about being on a sub when the highest-level-character is determined: the Hero's Treasure Chest can be shared via the Dimensional Merchant to all your other characters on the same server and same game account. Effectively, you partake in a subscription promotion, and you get to decide what one character on that server uses the chest. Just keep in mind that you can only share the chest to other characters when closed.

Ah I get your point, I assumed the chest and the items in it would start start loosing time once you got it in your inventory, I didn't realise the 90 day timer would start once you open the box :P But yeah, I agree with you then, saving up and start using it when I can use S-grade, so I can farm at high levels for 90 days, would probably be the best choice.

Any Hero's Treasure Chests that are unopened as of August 10, 2011 will be removed during that day's maintenance. If a character opens the Hero's Treasure Chest before that date, the character will not be affected by the removal.

Which means if you open your box at 9th of August, you can use your shadow sets and weapons for 90 days starting 9th of August.. Great for newcomers and first subs (which includes both me and my friend lvl 4x).

I don't get it, why you and all the other 84+ people that posted same question like you don't read better, this BOX is to help people lvl you being on lvl 84 for sure have made some gear by the time you hit this lvl, and this event is more then enough for anyone on 84 to hi 85 so why the hell do you QQ about not getting s84 gear? It was clearly written that it is a help for new players or players that reached 76 and without gear atm... Is obvious that if you can use s84 is that you are 84+...why even bothering explaining the point of this assistance from NCsoft...

somehow i get the feeling they dont come with element resist, nor can be elemented, nor further enchanted, nor crystallized.

My main class is an archmage but sub is a SwS, now if i was to make a warcryer sub level 40 and open then box, i'd get both heavy and robe sets which would be alot better than opening on my mage or sws as I'd get only a robe set or heavy set....

I don't know if u know but lately people have a really hard time farming adena and they end up NPCing items or selling them at ridiculous price close to NPC price.

Spend 40-50 million to make your +4 dyn wep with SA 150 fire/water,and lets see if you can't make that money with it within 90 days :)

Also the items help you over the phase from S to S84.
Items till Agrade are available at the npc shop.
Items S84 are available through Quests and Olympiad.

The S and S80 Bracket has no easy to get Items and thats where the Chest helps most.
Dynasty was S80 a few months ago and nothing but the required level to wear it changed.

I Agree, that putting elements in Shadow Items is a bit of waste. Perhaps better just put a random element on at level 2 or 3.

Boxes items help(and help a lot) if you have class to xp untill 76-77 lvls.After that,if no element in weapon,no solo.Put element in a summoned item with the current poor life we have in game is at least paranoic.
If you want weapon for farm after 80lvl,you need 300 with sa and with current situation this is gonna take you a loooooooong time.

To be able to claim/buy a second chest, i disagree.Market allready is destroyed from a grades in shops and s gear(which costed us a fortune)that noone's buying since dynasty became s grade.
As for the s84 you mention,if someone needs to make them from oly(no q that is working for them)then he needs to stay in oly for some years untill he makes his set :)

Question for the dynasty sets
Can you put pads on it? dynasty on its own its kinda lame especialy for mages!
Plz put the sets to be able to take pads (essences) it would realy help mages

my only complaint is that i wish we got the chests on the 4th, or even on the day the letter event started. i am super broke and was planning on using these items to hunt for the event letters, since i had overlooked that you dont get the items until the 10th. my sub is A grade now, and i cant afford full S grade (yeah, broke)

also, IMO the reason that nothing higher than S grade is available in the box is because they are getting ready for the GOD update and are trying to help out the lowbies

Hi ppl, i created a Trial acc in december 2010, and bought a Serial Key on April 30(2011 >.<).
The question is, may i receive the Hero's Treasure Chest in May 11? Does the Acc Activation count as a 1 month subscription?

Pretty sure you had to reactivate before the 4th. And yes you won't get it until the 11th. Seems quite strange to hand out half the items at one point and then the others a week later. Confusing if nothing else.

U can always add sub class dagger to open the chest u can have light and dagger but u missing the heavy..
Or add orc fighter u get light + heavy and pole/fists/2h swo so only u miss to buy dsgger :p

For us, this box will help a lot, because we are starting now, and will be possible to save a lot of adena with this help, but we need to be certain about when this count starts

The below information is no longer accurate.

The expiration question is answered in the original post. As for how the items distribute into your inventory, it's going to sound a bit complicated, and that's why I didn't post about it before. Here's the breakdown:



May 11, you find the Hero's Treasure Chest [90-day limited period] (1 item) in your private warehouse.
Double-click on the Hero's Treasure Chest, and you will get Equipment Set Pack [90-day limited period] (1 item). It looks like a white pearl, or orb. The 90 days start counting down right now.
Double-click on the equipment set pack, and it will find out what class you are, and produce another pearl-like item that will be called Mage Class Equipment Set [90-day limited period], or Rogue Class Equipment Set [90-day limited period], or whatever class type you are (still just 1 item in your inventory). (All of the class types are listed in the original post in bold, at the top of each full item list.) The 90 day timer on each of these has already been counting down since you first double-clicked on the Hero's Treasure Chest.
Now, when you click on the class-specific equipment set pack, you will get many more items. There will be one pearl-like item for each set of armor, each set of jewelry, and for each type of weapon set. For example, if I'm a human mage, I'll see:

Dark Crystal Robe of Fortune Set Pack [90-day limited period] (The 90 day timer has already been counting down since you first opened the chest.)
Avadon Robe of Fortune Set Pack [90-day limited period]
Karmian of Fortune Set Pack [90-day limited period]
Mithril Tunic of Fortune Set Pack [90-day limited period]
Major Arcana Robe of Fortune Set Pack (S-grade)
Dynasty Tunic of Fortune Set Pack (S-grade)
Magic Weapon of Fortune Set [90-day limited period]
Majestic Set of Fortune [90-day limited period]
Black Ore Set of Fortune [90-day limited period]
Sealed Set of Fortune [90-day limited period]
Elven Set of Fortune [90-day limited period]
Tateossian Accessory of Fortune Pack (S-grade)
Dynasty Accessory of Fortune Pack (S-grade)


Each of those 13 things are a single item in your inventory. Remember, you will get a different number or items depending on what class you are (some versatile classes have two different kinds of armor sets, etc).
Choose what grade you want to use now, double-click on that item, and you'll get the actual equippable items. When you double-click on the Weapons, you get the weapons of all grades at once.
Store whatever you're not using in your warehouse.

As you can see, it's pretty complex. But once you get your Hero's Treasure Chest and open it up, it will all make sense. I recommend that a player have about 15 slots available in their warehouse, or inventory-- wherever they want to store the items they're not using.

I've just been informed that there have been some changes to the expiration timers on items inside the Hero's Treasure Chest. Don't worry, they're good changes! :)

Remember, the Hero's Treasure Chests will be delivered to your warehouse during tomorrow's maintenance! Be sure to read the update (http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=214916) about the expiration timers before you open your chest!

I liked the Updated Chest, but couldn't the Weapons be just like the armors/jewellery? As i understood i'll probably open the armors C and B without opening the Weapons pack cuz i want to enjoy the S ones, 76-80 is harder then 51-75.

You know being that I've played for 7 years I shouldn't have to BUY 3 months of time to get the black cape. I see I was required to buy 3 months. Thanks for the snub NC, way to rake in profits. The way I read it on the anniv. page was that all players would get one,but ONLY if you buy 3 months of time, not for being having an active account which I had thought was the case. I don't know about some people here,but 3 months is A LOT of money especially when I have 3 accounts. After this much time I'd have thought every player should have got it regaurdless considering most of the items (vit stuff the exception) was junk. The capes at least offer some elements on them hence I liked them.

What I mean is the following:

Say I'm a level 32 rogue. I get my treasure chest and use it, so I get more boxes which each have a 90-day timer. I must use a weapon and armor, so decide to open up the D-grade armor set, which I can now use for 90 days. Besides that I open up the weaponchest, which gives me all weapons from D-grade up until S-grade sharing the same 90-day timer.
Now, say I level up to level 76 in these 90-days. At day 89 I ding level 76 and can finally use the S-grade armor chest. However, the S-grade weapon had the same 90-days timer as my D-grade weapon had, so it expires the next day, while I can use my armor for 90 days still.

What I mean is the following:

That was exactly what im thinking. If someone is going to buy all the cheapest stones and taking in consideration the stones fail rate if you put 150 on a weapon you will waste 75m + -
Divided by 3 months 25m per month...

Such an expensive rental fee to use a temporary elemented weapon...

Zipping the items and the sets into smaller boxes was a wise idea :D

Otherwise it was gonna be close to impossible to open the box :p

they should give the possibility to add element but only with one stone/crystal, you use only one stone and get 150 weapon, then you use one crystal and get 300 weapon.

Like this all players who are already stuff, can get for 90 days a better weapon (if for example you have only a +3 150 weapon, or not enough money to get 300 element).

I have an arcana mace +3 150 holy, as Eva Saint, I just back in L2 2 weeks before the event, now Dynasty weapon +4 would be better for me, but not with no element... and get my arcana mace 300 holy would be a waste of money (nobody buy arcana mace now...).

The Hero's Treasure Chest S-grade items were not given any special treatment to allow attribute assignment; they just have that option because all S-grade items do.

There was some kind of issue and NC knows about it and is working on as we speak.No worries if you didn't receive your promo items :D

It's an issue that we've been working on fixing since maintenance ended, and we'll update that thread once we know more.

I have a suggestion concerning a similar issue as an opportunity 7th anniversary of the L2, which in my opinion, all those who play should get the same bonuses for supporting L2 his presence, and with money.

All of the expiry items inside the 7th Anniversary Pack begin their count-down timer once you open the pack. None of the expiry items have their own box, I'm afraid.

They may missed the correct way to do the timers first time but they fixed it now when something bigger was at stake.

I feel that something is changing here. They are starting to fix things according to some correct suggestions (not talking only about the previous one) posted on message boards.

Kudos to Sace & NC for starting to listen and fix things when needed. TY.

It's a shame that all weapons are on a single timer when the armour and jewels have their own timer from when you open them. It would have been better to have just had an equipment "bag" for each grade that contained the armour, jewels and weapons so that all the items of the same grade expired on the same day.

They gave you two other free flippen pixel gift cloaks with the same stats and you are complaining that you can't get the black one unless you payless for the monthly fees you are already paying, wth?

What market is that exactly? D through A gear? Those markets don't exist.

S grade weapons are still fine because people need elemental attributes on their weapon.

Low S armors are the only market that I can see being affected. And even then...

Sry if I repeat someone but I didnt read all this discussion but... can you explain to me what can I do (if I am eva'Saint lvl 78) with all sets mage since D grade??? what for D grade??? if I do a sub I begin at c grade and if I'm a healer I can do a mage sub but I need a warrior and an enchanter! what for all these sets for a mage???????

Basically it was also for ppl that started the game from scratch.
Thats why D grade and up.
And with that they dont need any fighter gear if they are mages.
If u sub, well then u have to buy the gear (normal or common) / get it from clan, friends till u lvled to give it back or w/e.

Friendly reminder to everyone, any unopened Hero's Treasure Chests will be removed with the maintenance of August 10, 2011. That's a little over 2 weeks from now. So if you haven't already opened it, get your character chosen and be ready to open it before August 10! Remember that, once opened, the items you find inside will begin their 90-day expiration countdown.

I'm afraid there's nothing we can do right now about what items come for what class in the Hero's Treasure Chest. :( Traditionally, no warrior classes use daggers, so I suspect the chest might have been designed before Dwarves were given dagger mastery. Perhaps the developers will redesign it someday in the future.

You get all of the items in the list for the class type that you are when you open the chest. In your example, you would get both of those. You will also get getting the D,C,B and A grade stuff for your class type as well.

The tech team was certainly aware of the new date. You're the only person to say anything about their Hero's Treasure Chest being removed before the planned date, so I suspect this is an isolated issue. Have you sent a ticket to the support team yet? If not, please do; they can look at the game logs and find out what happened.

Ty for taking time to answer me Sace :) Yes I did file an ingame petetion about this, about 24 hours ago, they told me they would answer to my email, but nothing yet :)

Just weird that the treasure chests have been removed from several accounts...

I think I still have all of mine.... I better go check them... on both servers!!

I just verified that the mass-removal did not happen early, as one player suspects. It will happen this Wednesday, August 17, so be sure to open yours before that maintenance! :)

Remember, it's just the Hero's Treasure Chest item itself that is being removed. The item's icon looks like a purple treasure chest. If this one item, with that name and that icon, is still in your inventory or warehouse, that means you haven't opened it yet, and you must open it before Wednesday's maintenance. If you double-click on it, you effectively "open" the chest, the purple treasure chest icon disappears and you have instead a lot of icons of white/gray orbs, which in turn open into more orbs and eventually into gear for each grade. All of the orbs and equippable items have a 90-day expiration timer.

Because players received their Hero's Treasure Chest on May 11, 2011, those that opened it right away started their 90-day expiration timers then. Now, on August 15, it is a little over 90 days later. It's possible that some players may have been surprised that their gear was gone because they didn't notice the countdown timer of their gear until it expired and disappeared a few days ago.
