I have no wish to play a game where I spend hours trying to login at what used to be the lowest population hour. The only reason I'm here now is because of nostalgia since I started back in closed beta but even that isn't enough to keep me around if this is the kind of crap NCsoft is going to pull here.
What I don't get is how no one in ncsoft thought that an event requiring people to afk was going to produce some seriously stupid results. The fact that they didn't even make the event have a minimum level requirement of say 40 or so shows that..

Yeah, I can't login in either. But, bots did not take "my" place, because it is not my place or yours in this instance. Unfortunately, the space belongs to the first person to log in when the space became available. That being said, it very well might be that "your" space was taken by a legitimate player who now spent more money than you in the the Shop. So, I doubt NCSOFT cares, or for that matter, should care about you and your problems.

I have nothing against the concept of the mentor/mentee system, just that it was poorly thought out as far as the actual mechanics. The idea of making a feature that requires you to remain logged in to work is just bad development; hence the dumb event they have running now.

Get used to it, NCSOFT cannot provide you with adequate server space, now stop whining about it, and go read a book. Or, if you can't take two minutes away from your computer (nothing wrong with that, I guess...) then find a new game to play, trust me, there are plenty out there!

Do you honestly believe that NCSOFT has made a conscious choice to allow those 'players' to continue leveling, and justify it based on their "right" to do so? I doubt that very much. Rather, I would believe that NCSOFT is unable to disconnect those players, because it is quite possible (given the length of time it takes to sort through network information to determine third-party program usage) that they are legitimate players. Don't be ignorant.

EDIT : The joined date is crap because they changed forums a while back so really old players like me don't show up properly. I didn't bother "rejoining" the forums until relatively recently as the official forums were always a joke compared to some of the community run forums..
EDIT 2 : Hahah my fiancee is running around and the leveling areas are almost completely vacant. There's very few actual people online now. Only reason she's online is because she left a shop open all night.

I was saying for 2-3 years now, that F2P and marketplace will be the best idea and maybe more profitable for NCsoft. But if they dont do something with adena sellers and bots i see the servers shutdown to come sooner than expected.

If this looks like "regular players" to you then ... I don't know how to help you

Well, I cannot log in, and so I did not know what was meant. I was under the impression it was 'players' farming event items by killing low level mobs. And, indeed, that makes this a different issue. So, NCSOFT...WTH?
Cmon ncsoft this is crazy i cant login at all due to high server traffic. Fix the issue its pretty simple, all these adena shops and spam in chats is half the server and the other half is mentors logged in all the time. so the few people that actually want to play the game cannot even get in. Please dont think that heavy servers means the game is doing well it just means its packed with people just standing around or people shouting to sell illegal goods. Yout gona lose alot of the real population simply because they cant even log in.

If I was an environmentalist, I would boycott NC for encouraging thousands and thousands of people to leave their electrity-using (coal-burning) computers, many with 1000+W power supplies (this is a game after all), running 24/7 while their unused characters sit online while they are AFK. /fail

All it really needs is a restart tbh.
This won't fix the problem because with their automated scripts they log in automatically when the server is online again. Bots will log in and fill the server faster than players after a restart.

Why you pay for League of Legends or DotA? And still they are perfect games and many ppl (more than l2 players) play these games.
EDIT: Plus i dont think that NCsoft will pay for new server.To open a brand new server its way too expensive,BUT that's only 1 opinion.Many players think these days to transfer their characters to other server like Shilen Magm cause of lower popularity but still many of them just cant afford it.

Correct, if things are the same as when they were when they were headquartered in Austin. Unless it was an emergency or a special occasion, no one worked on the weekends.
It's why whenever the PTS goes down over the weekend, it doesn't come back up until sometime Monday. It's why getting an active response (action) from GMs for urgent issues during the weekends is nearly impossible. It's why the forums become much less moderated over the weekends.

If enough people would be as costly as possible (refrain from purchasing anything from the NC Store or PlayNC (services like name change) while staying logged in for as long as possible, taking up server space and bandwidth), I think we could cause some changes....

It's the generalization that's wrong. You cannot say that boxing is bad because some smart people (insert heavy sarcasm here) saw fit to make millions out of the event items botting tons of characters and accounts, blocking access to legit people into Chronos and Naia.
ofc is legit...and ofc stole place in server to other ppl..then stay out and shut up.
1st - if you had at least a minor idea you should have known legit dual-box was legal since day 1 of L2 and was never an issues for other people to log, the problem with full server traffic it`s because of other major things ,starting with this stupid event
2nd- all people are free to comment in a thread even you do not like what they say or not, so you should change your attitude

Search the forums a little harder and you will find out why, there are already about 200 threads already going concering this matter.

This is getting really old. you need to fix this please.
1. New Servers or Play to play!
2. kick all the bots and adena sellers.

All i am saying.. i really like NCsoft to put up a server for people that are willing to pay a monthly fee before it came free. I really Blame NCsoft for moving us around and then putting up 3 more servers and then not offering free Transfers to fix their Error. BTW i said nothing about dual Boxing.

And your solution would be the death of the servers because when it was pay to play there was maybe 2000 playing on 2 servers with lots of bots and player shops.
This type of suggestion has to be one of the dumbest, most asinine thing anybody could think of.
