As you've already heard our next big content update, Lineage II: Lindvior is scheduled to be released sometime in May.
One of the changes coming out with Lindvior is the removal of the Stone of Destiny. Because of that we wanted to give you a heads up and ask that those of you that have a Stone of Destiny and are thinking of changing classes, use it now before it's removed from game.
Why would they refund? They are warning you with a month in advance of it's removal. Takes about 3 days to level 1 to 85 with raid bosses.
Ok,ok fine, 5 days if you get unlucky on the spawns!
Subs don't take 3 days.
Anyway, was just asking on behalf of another person who bought a SoD for his dual class. In the case you're not able to use what you paid for, it's normal that a company would offer to hand out refunds to unsatisfied customers, or in your country this doesn't work?
Also havent you had that item to use for quite some time now as it is?
Should quit game cause you're a failure is what it sounds like.
Where did I say I ever purchased a SoD?
Have you considered giving refunds to the customers who purchased a SoD? Just askin'...
and not only are you given a month in advance, there is a BIG HONKIN' disclaimer on the confirmation page when you purchase NCCoins. NO REFUNDS or EXCHANGES!!! I hope you didn't spend too much money on the prospect of turning your dwarf into a mini nuker or your mutant half bird into a crazy cat lady. neeners. :p
Have you considered giving refunds to the customers who purchased a SoD? Just askin'...
No refunds will be given. The last time the Stone of Destiny was sold was in November 2012.
This game doesn't work that way. There have been many customers that were unsatisfied and never received any compensation.
It says somewhere all NCoin purchased are final, no refunds. Your "friend" has had this item for more than enough time now, leveling is not hard.
The NCoin purchased are final... But are the products purchased with them final as well?
What I meant is that a Stone of Destiny, which, unlike the xp runes, wasn't supposed to have the expiration date on it, should at least be refunded (perhaps with the same NCoin cost, if NCSoft doesn't want to hand out money) if the customer can't use it for whatever reason.
Also, boasting how easy is to no-life in this game doesn't make you a better gamer.

Unsatisfied that he had all this time to use it and now time is running out? Just asking.

Any items purchased with NCoin may be discontinued, modified or removed at any time.
By clicking the buy button, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:
The item cannot be redeemed for cash, returned for a refund, exchanged, or redeemed for other items except as otherwise permitted by NCsoft and the terms of the Lineage ® II User Agreement. (http://us.ncsoft.com/en/legal/user-agreements/lineage-2-user-agreement.html)

Again, the Stone of Destiny wasn't supposed to have an expiration date. it got introduced only with the sudden diversification project.
In short: selling it after the project started was a fraud.

Sigh... People just assume what they want.

I see... I almost pity the ones purchasing the overpriced xp runes now.

Let's be honest here, if your friend hasn't leveled his toon's sub or w/e since November, that's his problem not NCsoft's. You don't have to be a nolifer to get 40 to 85 in 5 months. Leveling a sub in 30 days is doable for anyone and they didn't have any obligation of advertising the removal of an item they no longer sell. IIRC they even warned back then that the item might be removed in the future.

Confirmed by Juji. No returns, refunds, exchanges. I know a lawyer you can call if you want to take them to court. just saying.

Have I said it was a lv 40 sub? I assure you, it isn't. Instead, it's pretty close to Awakening.
It's the principle of the matter that's bugging me.
+1
When asked if they would sell again, explained that they long ago since they would be deleted before the next update ...
6 Months and you dont have level 85????
Most of people at the time reaches over level 95+ easy
Next time he takes a break from the game, I'll make sure he will start playing again, at the expense of force-feeding him, so he can get to 95 in a week.
Sounds hardcore enough for you?

:D I leveled all of my subs in a month. I'm not a no lifer (not that I am saying that you are saying that I am saying that I am one), I'm retired and have waaaaaaaaay too much time on my hands when rl friends are not around. :D
@Tifferet, If NCSoft was a brick and mortar business that sells online items in a store inside their office, 5 months is beyond the normal return policy period (30 days) that a normal store would offer their customers.

THIS would be a reasonable excuse.
Go level Tiferet... This issue was already known by all
Read the post above yours.
I don't know what's all this flame about, but the only thing came to my mind after reading the opening post was: "Wow, NCSoft is finally giving a heads-up for something  "
Good job Vali, please keep it up (so the incident of removing the third servitor won't repeat again  - yes, it still hurts :( )

It's obvious the poster is the real person wanting the refund. 5,000+ posts, he spends all his time on forums instead of leveling and awakening his character.
Even though no refund is necessary, it would be cool of them to do so anyway. They lose nothing and will gain good will.
But, as we know, customer service isn't really a priority here.
To find all the toons who still have the SoD in their quest inventory, if not in the private WH and to determine if they actually paid for the item (They were given to everyone pre-GoD), and then give the refund in NCCoins which will anger more people because they most likely want money because they are fed up with having NCCoins and not feeling like they are preferred customers and get extra special treatment, because NCSoft will not mail out refund checks. yeah, easier said than done.

My main toon is already pretty established. I have several alts I plan to mentor with that. And, I repeat, I haven't bought any SoD. Wanna me to publish my billing history?
How I spend the time is my own business, if I prefer posting on the boards (which are more entertaining than the game itself) instead of doing boring dailies the whole day isn't something you should concern yourself with.
Thanks for your concern for my wallet, though, since I spend all the money I get for comics instead of virtual goodies.
Also, I'm a girl.

I'm just amazed that certain NCoin buyers are getting a special treatment.

Here is another tip for a happy life:
Do not try to suppress information from other territories.
They apply to our version more often than not.
Lol, already forgot about this old discussion.
Well, there you can see that i originally choosed the correct profession as my first char in the L2 world been a Prophet :D
sorry for stupid question. maybe there was an answer, but i'm 2lazy2read
when new update goes live we get something like stone of destiny in GoD to chose what we want to play, something like this happened in korea servers when they launched lindvior to live servers. as i hear all players get 3 items to change their proffesion. and there was only 2 restrictions with ovelrords/warsmiths (maybe more with elves/dark elves)

Yeah because queries are hard. They could have this information in a matter of minutes. They know the time frame that they gave out free ones. They know the time frame when they were available for sale. These two time frames do not overlap.
NO REFUNDS!! Use them or lose them.
That is the rule. It is also theirs to break for the sake of good will. Obviously we know they won't.

You aren't right with this, they did what a service have to do, they did alarm, the players, that if they wish to use up the item do it now.
Also as Juji told the last appearance of the item was in November of 2012. At this time a Lineage 2 player who follow the new constantly could know, that these item at this time already were removed in Korea, through the class changes.
It is like, that you bought example 30 years ago a car or a 30 years old car. You bought it as permanent item, but in nowadays your country make a new rule, that 20 years old or older cars can't enter to the traffic.
By this way they could let this item in your inventory, but you won't be able to use it anymore, while it take a slot in your inventory.

I completely agree with all of this but that still doesn't mean they can't throw a bone to those that still have them. I realize that customer service from NCNA has been so poor over the years that it would be completely out of character for them to do so, but what would it hurt to swap the SoD for an XP rune or something? It doesn't hurt you. It costs them nothing.

You can't compare a tangible item to a virtual one. The comparison makes no sense.
By this way they could let this item in your inventory, but you won't be able to use it anymore, while it take a slot in your inventory.
Well god knows there aren't any useless items still in the game.
Look, I don't have a dog in this fight since I never purchased an SoD. All I am saying is that NCNA could throw those who still have one a bone. It costs nothing for them to do so. And notice I never said that they must do so, only that it would nice of them to. Again, we know it won't happen anyway.

Queries are hard when a company have to devote resources to implement them. Everything seems so easy when you don't really have to spend the time, money and manpower to do it. In other words, it's easy to spend money when it's not yours, am I right? :p Plus, NCSoft's goodwill can go so far. If they offer refunds for an item that has been sitting in someone's inventory for months, then people will start wanting refunds on everything for variety of reasons.

The Essence of Chaos is totally different from the Stone of Destiny. With that item you can only change within your archetype group (Tyrr Duelist to Tyrr Dreadnought, but not Sigel Shillien Templar to Tyrr Dreadnought). And depending on the exact build, there will probably only be 2 Essences of Chaos, not 3: http://power.plaync.co.kr/lineage2/%EC%84%9C%ED%92%8D%EC%9D%98+%EA%B8%B0%EC%9A%B4+%ED %81%B4%EB%9E%98%EC%8A%A4

The first time it was sold there was no announcement about it coming with an expiration date. The only time limit was the duration of the sale.
Just a footnote to those who insist I'm lazy, I'm not the one who purchased a SoD, and the person who actually did quit playing for some months, he didn't buy the stone to "stock up". Or are you saying that people should be forced to play a game when they don't want to, just for the sake of an item that wasn't supposed to be deleted afterwards?
i have a feeling they just want you to buy and boost the sales revenue for a quarter and they will bring back the stone of destiny LOL i wouldn't be surprise the scam:(
its like buying tickets to a football game next month but you decide not to go or whatever but you wont get any refunds afterwards
same thing happens with many thigs you dont use, phone, cable, internet and so on.
I also agree with the posts about charging for an item that is to be removed, yes it has been six months, but that also means they new six months ago they were going to be removing this item, that is fraud. MAIL FRAUD, and also is illegal in the US and most countries. The UN has ratified the UCC (or universal commercial code) for a common way for nations to trade with each other and give those who have cause action they can take in the world courts. I bought one of this to use with one of the 4 subs I can make, and I am not happy as to this change in venu. There is no disclaimers on expiry dates and such and so I would hope that they would review the issue for those of us who purchased the stone for a use at a later date.

You are assuming, of course, that NCSoft knew (not new) that the SoD will be removed 6 months later. You are also assuming, again of course, that NCSoft is a gov't runned company (controlled, funded and employed by gov't employees) that trades to the nations of the world. Summary: NCSoft has the right to change, adjust or remove content as per the EULA that you agreed to and the United Nations have no juristiction over a privately owned company. Plus, if we actually read the UCC (which I haven't of course and it's my turn to assume), Virtual items do not fall under the protection of it and I can probably guess it only covers physical consumable items (Animal, mineral, vegetable and physical man made items like planes, trains and automobiles.)

You may want to look up the definition of MAIL FRAUD. Here, I've done so for you:
Mail and wire fraud is an fraudulent scheme to intentionally deprive another of property or honest service via mail or wire communications
Just an FYI, wire means over a telephone, telegram, etc...
Such a term does not cover selling a virtual item on a website and then deleting the item at a later date.
Also, they post a notice on every item detail page that reads as follows:
Any items purchased with NCoin may be discontinued, modified or removed at any time.
By clicking the buy button, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:
The item cannot be redeemed for cash, returned for a refund, exchanged, or redeemed for other items except as otherwise permitted by NCsoft and the terms of the Lineage ® II User Agreement.
my first reaction was omg [censored] but then looking over the posts i would like to point out that there was two different ways the stones came into the game and that i understand why it's ok to remove them:
some bought stone of destiny during event in the L2 shop. assuming they knew what they want to buy and considering they should have completed the change into a different awakening class several months ago, there should be none left in game.
pre-GoD accounts got 1 free stone on each eligible account because of the merge of the classes. now that this merge is reversed it's logical to also remove the stones they got offered because they now play with their original classes in Lindvior, if not changed with the stone.
so if you still have characters from pre-GoD that you didn't level to 85 yet and not used the stone of destiny either then stop hoarding and go XP. you had 1.5 years to do this. also you should take advantage of the 200% XP bonus from mentor now instead of 50% in lindvior. in my opinion, if you still haven't then you will most likely never and it should be faster to simply level up a new character before lindvior.

FUUUCCCCKKK I need to start leveling...
**** my parents, they think computers are drugs. Yet, they watch T.V. and twidle on their smartphones all day.
No refunds will be given. The last time the Stone of Destiny was sold was in November 2012.
any one that gets a SoD taken away that they paid for should call there credit card company and file a complaint credit card companys have lawyers and they do the fighting will get your money back no problam.

If NCsoft is so adamant they will not be giving anybody refunds for this item nor will they be giving any kind of item in substitute for it, they should at least make the item trabeable in game so the people who have them can sell to other players on the server for adena or items. I think thats at least fair considering the item never came with an expiry date when purchased!

You assume that NCSoft doesn't have lawyers? Even if the credit card go after NCSoft with a pack of lawyers, the lawyers will go over the EULA and Purchase agreement, and most likely tell the credit card company they have no case. In fact, who's to say the credit card company would actually give a **** about something that only cost 20 bucks back then? I'm willing to bet the credit card company will start charging a surcharge just to get your small amount of money back. All I can say is, "Welcome to 'Merica, friend. Where we get fat off of your lack of money. yum, that's good eatings."

If you chargeback your purchase, NCNA will ban the account in question. EA was doing the same thing with the latest Sim City debacle for people who did so to get refunds.
on top of that any one can go to the www.BBB.org (http://www.BBB.org) and file
The BBB is completely worthless and powerless. The only thing the BBB does is send a letter. They have no enforcement. I'm not even sure if NCNA is a member of the BBB. Even if they are, nothing will happen except the letter.

Some time ago a guy filed a complaint against NC on that site, due to "Lineage 2 being too addictive".

Results? Zero.
Here's what the BBB does. Businesses can pay a yearly fee to be a member, which gives them the right to advertise that they are BBB members.
If you file a complaint with a company with the BBB, they send a copy of that complaint to the business. The business then has a certain amount of time to respond to the complaint. Generally, they encourage the person who filed the complaint and the business to work it out among themselves.
However, if they don't, nothing happens. The BBB closes the complaint and that's the end of it. They keep a record, which is viewable online, of all complaints against a business and their resolution. They can't force anything.

you should read the EULA first before giving bad advice:
all in game items and characters remain the property of NC soft.
paying for them gives you only the right to use/borrow them
so go ahead and sue if you want to loose your account. as a fact, just posting this could cost you a warning and a possible ban.

this does show us one thing: if you cant win a fight or an argument and live in america, then go ahead and sue them. threatening others with your lawyers will not make you look smarter but might get you an early settlement. in game is just like in real life... :p

Law and psychology seem to have two themes in common. People who work in either want money, and both are full of bs.
Have to agree telling people they will lose the stone when the update hits is a bit disingenuous without a release date.
So... they should have given no warning at all? They do something right and give us heads up and the masses still complains... some complain just to complain instead of taking action and leveling the character that needs the SoD.
For the love of Shilien how long ago did you receive this virtual GIFT, last week? No, the original SoD was GIVEN to us like November of 2011, the ones sold were a year later in September of 2012. You have had months to use them... do you ask for refunds when your milk expires?

I think you completely missed the point, but you had to troll someone today and I guess I'm that person.
Not everyone wants to try to level all their toons with stones before May 1st. Giving a release date with the news allows people to plan accordingly.
Saying "Update is coming in may" does not. May has how many days in it? That virtually meant those people had 4-8 weeks to use their stones, which is too big of a variance to plan around. Some people actually have to meter their playtimes, due to RL obligations. Having concrete timestamps for things like this makes it easier to do that...
Most MMORPG games let their playerbase know the release date for major updates months ahead of time, not days or hours...

You have a few 80+ and a couple 90+, I am pretty sure you know how things are run around here, this ain't like any other MMO. If calling me a troll makes you feel better about your post and yourself so be it, I'm a troll. I can live with that... you have to live with crying about something you state you don't have or want. As far as the next update... it will happen when it does. If they say May 4 and are late you and other forum grazers will cry about it being late. Which has happened in the past. NCWest is like a person in an abusive relationship... afraid of saying anything that might bring on a beat down. So be a good little donor and just wait.
