We’re simplifying and streamlining the way Lineage II updates with a new launcher. The new launcher will deliver Lineage II-specific updates and expedite the game launching process.
Updating to the new launcher is easy. Start up the NCSOFT Launcher as you always do and you’ll notice Lineage II requires an update. You must update before you can get in game.
Click UPDATE to run a file check. Note: This process make take several minutes to complete depending on your system hardware. It is a one-time process.
A: The NCSOFT Game Launcher is a standalone, streamlined game launcher for Lineage II.
Q: What’s the different between the NCSOFT Game Launcher and the NCSOFT Launcher?
A: Pando Media Booster will no longer be required to install Lineage II. Instead, players will have the option to enable or disable a peer-to-peer torrent installation. Peer-to-Peer is currently disabled until further notice.
While the NCSOFT Game Launcher is required to install, update, and play Lineage II, there will be no more launcher interface to go through before starting the game. Players will have to launch Lineage II directly from its respective shortcut.

BTW only a fresh install can edit the install path. When the launcher transitions, it uses the current install path.

Yes this launcher is specifically for Lineage II. Aion will use the same technology but it won't show up on the same launcher like the old one. Yes you can uninstall the old launcher. No it doesn't use Pando. It uses Peer-to-Peer tech.

Not at this time. You can manually close the little box, it won't mess with the game.

Yeah...players..anyway, got no problem with new updater , anyway , is this thing going to have some usefull fuction as "bot blocking" or is just a simply launcher? are we gonna ever see any working anti-bot system or i'm doomed to be unable to do dailies in open-field without doing 40 PK per minute? :x
Why is people expecting that a launcher functions as a bot protection program is beyond me...
well maybe some bots use the launcher too and when they see the nice pictures they might turn good and will never bot again

Yeah, you forgot to mention a new plan to ban bots from server, all GM have to walk in Executioner Grounds, Spicula or Prision of Darkness to see train of bots and kick once and for all these bots, it's really starting to suck play these days all places are infested with bots it really make me wanna join bot party at least i will be 99 without hard work

i got the same error, but think my anti-virus program is blocking what's being downloaded. my anti-virus caught a bunch of entries while downloading. are you sure the update files are virus-free? i can't use the update because of this and i'm not about to disable my antivirus

i downloaded this 4.8MB launcher from site and installed to a new path
im now updating it, and the problem is it already downloaded 3GB and its not even 30%... dont tell me it downloads the game from a start :mad:
I am not gonna use this new launcher until it offers custom place of installed game. At the moment it doesnt even offer to change download/install path.

Well NCwest you did it again..i run windows 8 and everything ran fine...now that you decide to bring a new launcher I do the update and it updates when I run the new launcher I get error that files cant be Downloaded and to restart the launcher I finally get the launcher to run and when I click play it lags out my WHOLE computer and freeze's...so I uninstall the launcher and reinstall and now I get same error's again and it wont run the launcher...no idea what to do now..thanks for messing everything up again...
So, you thought it would be better to make it quicker for bot runners to log in sessions rather than make any attempts to remove bots or prevent botting altogether? Have you seen the amount of bot trains running about on your servers or do you still continue to ignore them? What a waste of your time creating a new launch client, surely your priority is to improve the game play rather than trying to knock off a few seconds that it takes to log in >.<

in my opinion this luncher is completly failure , i uninstalled old and instaled the new , then the luncher started downloading the l2 from begining, i cant even show in this luncher the place where the game is actually installed while i could make it on old one. Like always ncsoft have to destroy everthing in 1 second with their updateds etc.

Have the same problem..after 3 hours of trying to figure out why I kept getting an error DLing the new launcher...I had to choose a different folder for it and it is downloading the WHOLE game again...had no choice cuz it wouldn't let me update it in my original L2 folder no matter what I tried so trying new folder was my only option...sent a support ticket to NCsoft and was told to delete my virus protection LOL like that's gonna happen..Good Job at NOT fixing something that wasn't broken lol

a new lucher that will not prevent hacks and bots, only players that dont use use windows...
so i'm going to start creating accouts and play OOG under a VM windows...
after 4+ hours trying to figure out what's going on and a few mails with support, I figured out a solution working for me on 3 different computers.
First i had to uninstall the old NCSoftLauncher (as mentioned befor by GourryGabriev, carefull not to uninstall the game with it)
Then had to reboot the computer and after it rebooted i just opened this L2-icon and no more E02018 (DP_G17_0_4/88221940 Patch/Zip/Uninstall.exe.zip) error. it just opened up.
Now as a test on 1 comp i pressed update (seems like full redownload omg) and on the second i clicked the "File Repair" button. now this one was finished in like 4 minutes, game is loading and im back ingame.
Hope this is of any use for all with similar issue.
(P.S. this worked for me on 2 windows XP machines, the Windows 7 machine still kept getting this error, so i had to copy the whole C:\****\NCWest\NCLauncher\$Patch$\4\Patch\Zip folder from XP comp to Win7 comp. and now it works fine, maybe an idea for GM to make these files available?)

and then i copy my l2 client from you old folder into L2GOD folder
so the new launcher took me a minute to say wtf. But to rehash, I didn't have to install a fresh 3gig download, it will scan your current install and hopefully all is well considering. On the initial run of the launcher I was why is this taking so long. So I stopped it killed the helper and started with the Icon that was placed in my game client folder, that when much faster, hit 8% then auto-launched.
So I assume now that your side project of this new launcher has gone with issue (lol) that you will now fix ****, maybe start with your bot infestation?

For everybody that the new launcher can't find the already installed game path, here is the solution from support team.
The following instructions will remove the old launcher and migrate the Lineage II game files to the new launcher. This will bypass the "conversion" from the old launcher to the new one and just do it manually. To start we need to back up your Lineage II files so we do not have to download the entire game client again.
1. Locate your old Lineage II game folder. By default, this should be C:\Program Files(x86)\NCSOFT or something like D:\Games
2. Rename this folder to "Lineage II.old"
3. Click "Start" then "Control Panel" then click on "Uninstall a program."
4. Uninstall Lineage II (if listed) and uninstall any version of the launcher listed. NCsoft Launcher or NCSOFT Game Launcher.
6. Right-click "Lineage2installer.exe" and select "Run as Administrator." This will start the installation process.
7. Select the installation location you had Lineage II installed to previously but renamed in step 2. Example, D:\Games\Lineage II
8. Once the "Lineage II" installation has completed, you will be prompted to install to the NCSOFT Game Launcher. Note: You will not have the option to change the installation location of the launcher. It must be C;\Program Files(x86)\NCWest\Launcher (Requires about 5MB)
9. Once the installation of the NCSOFT Game Launcher has completed, you will be prompted to "update" Lineage II. At this point, close the launcher.
10. Navigate to your Lineage II installation folder, which should show 2 different Lineage II folders. Lineage II and Lineage II.old.
11. Delete "Lineage II" and rename "Lineage II.old" to "Lineage II."
12. "Right-click" the newly created Lineage II shortcut on your desktop and select "Run as Administrator."
At this point, the NCSOFT Game Launcher should scan the new folder and begin the patching process. Once completed, Lineage II should start automatically.
Should you encounter any issues with this process, please provide a screen shot of the error. If you see dialogue box with a “Report Error” option from the NCSOFT Game Launcher please also provide the logs so we can see what errors are occurring. To do this:
1. Click the Report Error button to launch the log collector.
2. Click "Save" to save the logs.
Note: By default, the crash logs will save to C:\Program Files (x86)\NCWest\NCLauncher\ folder. Please navigate to this location and attach these logs along with your screen shots to your ticket.

Yesterday I update the client, it messes around for f knows how long updating blah blah blah, I run it, it works fine, today when I try and run it I get this error
(Launcher Error) A faulty installation url was transmitted
The game is where the launcher installed it lol.... Then when you try and send the error report you get another error telling you to try later. So thanks for that, I now have to sit here and faff about trying to figure out what the hell the launcher is doing. I don't see what was wrong with the old launcher.
If anyone has any suggestions in regards to the error please feel free to let me know. Thanks in advance.
I tried the EU servers last night.. I was disappointed because I didn't see one bot from level 1 - 41 *sarcasum* lol. No one tried to ks me, no one tried to pk me, I was in shock :O They just don't have the path to awakening *shrugs*.
So I followed what the guy above posted but nah it's messing around and updating again. Very annoying seeing how I just wanted to go and do my solo dailies before the server went down later. I hope you guys don't go and break the servers again and introduce more bugs :P At least you guys are trying though, I recalled when I first started playing 8 years ago, we had to pay to play, and the maintenance days were quite long, longer than they normally are now, they didn't introduce new things that often, it was slower to level, took me 7 months to get from 1 - 77... Less bugs though. Also people were banned for stupid things back then, only temp bans but still lol.

New launcher installed fine, but I have problem with it upon Windows start: Everytime I log into Windows dialog is displayed that "Program is trying to make changes to your computer" (yes I have UAC turned on), only to display error message saying "Invalid argument".
Will this NCUpdateHelper thing bother with user input everytime windows starts? Why wasn't it put running under admin privileges or as a service when it starts under Windows? Is it vital for launcher to function or can I just thrash it away? Why it cannot properly configure itself and gives me Invalid argument message? Will it appear with next Launcher update again in auto-start?
Edit: It happens on both computers I run L2. Windows 7 64-bit. Both were updated smoothly, but after restart this component is causing problems.
I completely removed traces of any Launcher I had on my computer, installed new Launcher fresh and it still asks for user input and gives the same error :(
Edit: ... screw this, now I cannot even install game because freshly installed Launcher refuses to start and is giving error. GG NCsoft :( Yes I have turn Antivirus off.
For those who got the error E02024, I had the same problem and I tried the following and my launcher worked:
#1 Right click Lineage II on your desktop select open file location.
#2 Find the the file NCLauncher not the application Type is configuration settings its just note pad stuff not a app.
#3 Now that you have found the text file Right click it select Open.
#4 Now that is open find SelfUpdate=1 and change the 1 to zero so that it looks like this SelfUpdate=0.
#5 The last and final step! Hit Ctrl+S and close it all out and start your launcher.
When is the 'client stuck at splash screen while gameguard never runs eating up all my cpu cycles apparently doing nothing for hours' problem ever going to get fixed.
Whilst I know this isn't affecting many people it is affecting more than just me alone. I have had 4 tickets over this now to unsatisfactory conclusion. The problem has persisted since 29/5/13. Over 2 full months and not a peep out of anyone except 'support is aware of the problem'.
This problem stops clients from even starting up as far as a login screen. It must therefore be treated as a critical problem and not a minor niggle.
Even with this new launcher the problem persists. It appears to be a gameguard issue. When the client sticks at the splash screen gamemon.des does not run and memory usage sticks firm at 260ish Mb while the CPU is maxxed out. When the client does start gamemon.des runs, both that process and the l2 process get hidden from task manager and the memory usage attributed to l2 is 279mb. In this case CPU usage is normal.
Something of note (especially if you're having error E03001):
The launcher CANNOT RUN BY ITSELF, so don't bother trying.
Try making a shortcut to NCLauncher.exe and put
/LauncherID:"NCWest" /CompanyID:"12" /LUpdateAddr:"updater.nclauncher.ncsoft.com" /GameID:"LINEAGE2"at the end in the "Target" field and run the launcher through there.
Also, you don't even need to install the launcher. You can use 7-zip or similar to unpack the installer and just copy/paste the install files wherever you want them. You still have to link it to the game with the shortcut.
Trying to reinstall the whole game, however the next error occurs every 3 min.

1. run NC old ( if you uninstall, i think you should down again NC old :D )
2. down NC new + setup
3. Create folder name "Lineage II" at disk D. then browse setup L2 into folder created
4. when NC active you must copy all files L2 old => paste to folder "Lineage II" before click Update of NClauncher => you only miss some minutes to update :)

What worked best for me was uninstalling everything NC and re-running Lineage 2 installator from Download game section.
Still have the problem with UAC asking for permission to run NCUpdateHelper.
Add new launcher to run all games from one place for improved player experience and to make it easier. Oh wait, let's split them up again to "simplify and streamline" the process.

Did you have the game installed already? If so, you shouldn't have needed to download the new installer from the website. It should have auto updated once you ran the game. If you did download it from the website, did you point the install path to your current client location? It has a default setting so you'd have to point it to where ever it is you have the client located.

The only thing that happened was there was an error after it downloaded,but I hit update after I closed the message and it installed fine and took no time at all. So if you get an error message, try just closing that and clicking update again because it was being stupid for me a little.

That's not true at all Vali, or you expressed it wrongly.
I had L2 (and the old launcher too) installed on a custom folder (on my E: drive), and when I updated, the new launcher went automatically and without asking to my c:\program files (x86)\ncwest folder.
So, it doesn't use your "current install path", it uses the "default" path and you can't do anything to prevent it.
Launcher itself yes, but actual game folder stayed the same after update (I have it E:/Lineage II too).
If you want to have more control, uninstall everything (make backup of direcory first ie. by renaming it to Lineage II.bak) and install from scratch:
Download http://www.lineage2.com/en/game/download/installation/#NCLauncher
Execute, make an empty directory E:/Lineage II and tell the installer path to it. After installation copy files and subdirectories from .bak directory, run launcher and do files check.
This is what support recommended me to do when I had problems after reinstalling game and it worked for me.

I had a second folder with L2 dunno why and now the launcher says 12% and is not moving
This piece of brown smelly thing managed to get me angry.
I did the whole thing on my Desktop and it works fine......after changing Launcher's/clients location.
When I did the very same things in the very same order on my laptop, pressed Full check to find the game files and it updated. When I closed my Launcher window after all.......
*magic* My client got deleted.
I plugged in my USB Flash Memory, get the files again into the same folder and updated again.
*magic* Client got deleted again when Launcher window closed.
If I had to use NCLauncher or Internet Explorer for a day, I'd choose the later.
They should improve communication to players, I spend a lot of time trying to install the new launcher until i found a way to do it correctly thanks to another players
Why not simply explain the method to update it when you have the game installed in a different-from-default path on the web site?
Like "Until we fix the problem of the launcher not detecting automathically existing game path, here's how to do it manually. We apollogizes for any inconveniences"

Its like downloading the full game again. Its the third time I'm triying to do it and can't change the directory of the downdloading. How many GB is the new path??????
Why is Launcher trying to start with Windows all the time? Even when I disable it in msconfig, it goes there again. And on each Windows start, I have the system popup, to allow Launcher modify some system settings. It's annoying :/

I don't mind the new launcher and had no issues installing it.
However, the fact that even if you remove NCUpdateHelper from the startup programs, the launcher puts it back in there every time you run it, is pure unadulterated EVIL.
NCSoft, *I* decide what runs on startup on my machine, not you.
Given that the launcher seems to work fine regardless of whether NCUpdateHelper is running, I see no reason why 'Run on startup' shouldn't be a selectable option like it is in every other piece of software. It's made me actively avoid playing L2 in favour of other games, because I don't want to fiddle around removing NCUpdateHelper from startup programs again!
To those who don't like NCHelper on windows start-up.
Use CCleaner and deactivate NCHelper entry (do not remove it). And it won't launch on start-up again :)
You don't need CCleaner to disable it, although it surely helps those not accustomed with PC commands (you can disable it from msconfig).
Problem is it adds itself to startup every single time after you exit the game, and this needs to be fixed.
I don't need NCSoft abusive system to add that crap "helper" every time I ext the game!
That's why you *NEED* to use CCleaner. It will add itself again if you use msconfig but it won't if you use CCleaner.
It adds itself WITH CCleaner too, I tested it, that's the whole point.

Rename NCUpdateHelper.exe to NCUpdateHelper.exe.bak
Problem solved.
1st: Write msconfig in the search of your windows.
2nd: It will appear the system configuration window
3rd: Go to the startup tab of the system configuration window.
4th: Uncheck the NCupdatehelper box.
5th: Apply the change you just made.
6th: Click ok.
7th: Reboot your computer.
And that program doesn`t bother you anymore.
True, if you don't start the game anymore. When you start the game through launcher, it goes to startup again (unless after last update it was changed).
I've completely ignored the new launcher for a while and happily gone about using the .exe like i always have, then i thought to set up this new one because i can't get updates otherwise.
No Install Path
Re-downloads the whole game (community managers are saying "have you installed the game?" because you've failed to be a robot consumer and saved your client to the default path)

NCsoft like wasting time, so those bots can just get that extra little bit more of an edge on the market, especially during event time.
Peer-to-Peer is disable for the time being. That's why there's no option to disable it.
The TRUE is P2P is ON by default.

There's no option to disable on launcher but in NCLauncher.ini file you can do it.
Just simply you have to change the value on this line P2PEnabled=1 to 0 number.
