Suspicious.cloud.7.L

I have a problem with l2bin. My antivirus all of a sudden sees one of the l2bin files as a threat. Everything was wonderful until around 30 mins ago. Now when I try to launch L2 it fails. I did a system repair and as it was finishing my antivirus picked up the "suspicious" file again. Is there a problem? Has the servers been compromised? Little info if anyone else has encountered this problem.
Thanks
Join the club. Every thing was fine this morning and tonight Norton caught the same virus and even with repair it was not fixed. So I am re-installing L2 now.

Are you the Wild in IC? Just curious if it's a clan thing?
Yes, I am the Wildchild in IC. Having probs. Was fine about an hour ago. I leave and come back and have a threat screen on my PC. Did a file repair on L2 and it popped up again. The file is in l2bin. I'm not going to exclude it until I hear something from NCsoft.
It is funny because it did not pop up on my laptop but I do not hunt in party with my laptop. I hope NCSoft jumps on this. I wonder if we are the only two that have it?
I can't imagine we are the only two with this problem. I use Norton 360.
Me also - and this virus had high risk on it - we will see if any others have the problem - I will let you know if re installing helps also ok?
Cool, good luck, but I have a feeling at the end of the install you will pick it up again. Hopefully not, and yes, let me know how it goes.
I'm having the same issue
Too bad it is the weekend and NC staff is gone for the day. Maybe the low man on the totem pole is still there and can make a call. I think I just typed that out loud. I may need a drink.
Add me to the list. I just got home and this is the first time that I've seen this issue.
I think l2.bin is checking for **** on my PC and Norton don't like it!
Norton thinks L2bin is too invasive, so it's wiping it out. Choices are either to exclude it and move on with the hope that a real ****/virus isn't somehow piggybacking on the bin, or disable Norton altogether and try a different antivirus program.

Is this only happening to Norton users, or is L2bin also flagging other AV software?
Not sure if other AVs are seeing it as a threat, but I am happy with my Norton 360. As long as I have had Norton I have never had any virus hit my PC. Most say it is a resource hog. It is unless you make use of the settings option. But, to answer your question, I don't know about other AVs.
I love how they spelled "harmful" in the second sentence. lol
That's why they get paid the big bucks :P
Here you go, as promised from the other thread, never would have looked here if you hadn't asked there, LOL > malwaretips.com/blogs/suspicious-cloud-7-ep-removal/ < . You don't need everyone one of those tool's, one will suffice.

Like I said in the other thread, guys/girls, get rid of Norton, its 2014, not 1990. There are plenty of good ones that have free versions that are 1000 times Better and update every 4 hours even the free ones. BTW, Norton itself is responsible for this. :D

I recommend AVG myself, but there are others as well. :D
A lot of the programs listed are free, betting you guys use IE as your browser as well ? Firefox is far safer, and I personally use Chrome, which links to updated AV's like AVG. I like AVG free version myself like I said, but there are a few other very good AVG's that have free versions that update every four hours as well, like Avast. Get rid of Norton !
We love you Bubbles :p Yeah my bf paid for the Norton and did the settings - I dont get warnings it just does what it does - I did adjust that and I am reinstalling L2 because it seems Norton RIPPPPED the l2bin out.

Thank you for your time and information.
Np. :D
Np. :D

Norton isnt that bad, im guessing you're another person who heard it from your friend, who heard it from his uncles brothers friend...

Soo, source?

that being said i dont really use norton, but its not as bad as you make it out to be.

Edit: Skimming through that link you gave us/them, it only shows how to remove an actual virus, this is a false positive.
So just need to change the settings to ignore the l2.bin file and you should be good to go, or did i miss something in the link?
Feels like you just took the first link from google :p

Oh really ? Go look in the other thread where they came and asked for my help, I knew immediately they were running Norton, gee, I wonder how.

I work on peoples CP's part time, I've seen it before, Norton is terrible, and you are clueless if you think otherwise, it as a totally outdated dinosaur, it updates its definitions once every four days I believe, if not worse, when in this day and age you want definitions updated hourly if possible, which none do, so the nest best is every four hours which many do.

They didn't say but I am also guessing they use IE, which I also have problems with, not as much, but I still recommend Firefox, and I use Chrome myself.

Go read that again, its an actual piece of malware, its a common problem with Norton users, believe what you will and stick with Norton if you want, no skin off my back, but I have many customers who thank me profusely after I switch them over to AVG free version.

Now just having gone back and read their thread, its even more what I said, this is no false positive you nitwit, they already deleted the files as a try, and re installed, blah, never mind, not bothering with a long winded explanation for you, keep your Norton and be happy with your virus zoo, Norton disavows a lot of the new definitions as well, which most people with knowledge know, some even know why, like myself. Keep your Norton, not my computer. :D
I am also getting this problem, I use Chrome and I use Norton as well. However, Norton "Says" that it removed the suspicious file or w/e. When I try to launch the game I get "Un-able to launch the game, error E03008", in so many words.
Oh wow Znipoo, yet another Norton user, what a coincidence !

Go to my first post in this thread, do what it says and then run a file check afterwards. I advise you to get rid of Norton as well, but thats up to you. ;)
Thank you BigBubbles, I will try your recommended fix after I am done with my Jack in the Box ;)

And, I have a few months pre paid of Norton left... But considering this is the 3rd virus I have got, that got past Norton, I believe I will be getting another AV provider. Recommendations on a good one?
I give AVG free version to peoples CP's I work on, some pay for the full package, but the free version is very good, will add a link in a min.

free.avg.com/us-en/homepage I only add the link because there are a lot of scammer sites that claim they are AVG that come up in a search, it it fools some people and they wind up getting something they and their CP did nor want, LOL. :D
l2.bin (last maintenance) -> WS.Malware.1

Any generic detections like these (regardless if they are classified as 'threat' 'virus' or whatever), merely indicate that the associated executable exposes malware-like behavior.

Which reminds me, due to increasing amounts of reports about virus makers using cracked packing/obfuscation software to pack their trojans, keyloggers and whatnot, AVs start to mark all packed executables as generic malware (somewhy always classified as 'high-risk' instead of 'potential malware').

Sounds like NC just forgot to send their latest obfuscated executable to all AVs.

I use AVG, zero problems, sorry. This is a known issue with Norton, and I bet once they do the check they will find the malware, after they remove it there will be no problems with the bin files after a file check, wanna bet ?

Do you even have a clue how malware works ? Second do you know why Norton does not accept certain released definitions ? I can say yes to both, I doubt you can. Like I said, I bet my fix works, and I would also get rid of Norton if I was them.

Go check the bench tests for Norton, it always falls short under malware, even on the sites they paid for a good review it did not receive high mark's. Believe what you like, the fix will work and they will be fine, I just hope they also get rid of Norton as well as doing the fix.

Also, if you open your eyes, its all Norton users having this problem. Not AVG, Not Avast, yadda, yadda.
My AV have remove L2.bin file he have see Trojan in it name Suspicious.Cloud.7.L
u can run it, when u repair files.. and use ignore action from ur internet security, but ours PC's ISNT SAFE
ignoring this virus will be very very bad, next time you virus scanner find it will ignore it.
I love the game but no way.
fixing the file(deleting) or blocking it by the virus scanner and cant play the game.
i dont know about this kind of virus, but i can see that is High threat and i want to avoid virus and etc.. thats why i pay norton internet security every year
the one before this one is bad,,"Suspicious Cloud 7" and few modifications , this one I think is new cos I cant find the 7.L
but the one before, make you Pc slow, change Home page, make you go places that you don't want to go when looking for something on the net , take you places where you can get other Trojans, etc.
i didnt get this problem and i hope to not get it too... 1 virus can bring more!
1 virus seems ok here.. but if more? what will happen? format my pc?
It try to change some of the settings on a program where I keep all my passwords, is a pay program.
and made my Pc little slow, the virus is gone from my Pc now but no so sure , I`ll wait few days see if anything else change cos reformatting the
HD and putting it back will take me about 4 days..
is custom made and I have to add every drives plus all the programs I need, I work from this Pc..
for the past 5 years with not virus until today :(
i will stop posting more spams here and i will waiting to fix it..
Read through the thread, I explained it already, no need to retype it. ;)
BB.
you are right on few points about Norton but there is a virus like this out there, Google it "Suspicious Cloud 7" and few variations.
Norton, few times see things that are not there but I rater be safe than sorry.
there is not antivirus that can be 100%.
and most of them will not catch the new ones if they are not on the data base.
but this virus try to change settings on some of my pragmas where I keep passwords and made my Pc very slow.

Thats what malware does, you can get it from simply clicking an add, though usually it takes a little more. After that it infiltrates and disguises itself so it won't be detected. What I am saying is it has corrupted more then your L2 bin. Just deleting the bin and redoing a file check will not solve it, you need to grab one of those free programs in that link I put up, or spybot if its still around, most of them are free, just make sure you uncheck the freebie boxes like anything else. You know, those free programs that come with programs.

It will find and isolate all of the malware, after that do a file check and you should be good to go. You keeping Norton is your own call, but seeing as this thread is all Norton users, just maybe you should take my advice and get AVG or something like it, its free version is better then Norton and updates definitions every four hours. Your call.

I know another way of doing it, but its not for a novice to attempt and its a bit more effort, but at the end your AV would be changed over, which is why I do it the way I am not listing here myself. Anyways, I told you what to do, what you do with that info is your choice. :D

BTW, that "data base" as you are calling is the definitions that AVG updates every four hours, which is the best definition update timeframe out there, others besides AVG also do this and on their free versions as well, I am just partial to AVG. ;)
thanks I have try some of those few years ago,, I wil given a try.
I don't have problem, deleting the virus or whatever it is,, but the problem is after deleting that file the game doe snot want o work. and I am a addicted to this game ..lol

Your not understanding me, yes Norton is detecting where it corrupted the bin file, its not detecting the other files it has corrupted, so as soon as you do a file check and re get the bin, the malware just corrupts it again. You need to get all of it, thats why I put in that link with that list, after you have gotten all of it, then do a file check to re DL the bin and you should be all set.

The fallacy most people are under that Norton is good is because it used to and to some extant still is included with your CP when you get it. This is not because it is good, it is because Systematic had a OEM contract with almost everyone, some it has run out on, but most its still going and they do their deal with the manufacturers cheaper than anyone else. Thats the only reason most come stock with Norton.

I'm not a big fan of Microsoft, but for once they are actually actively doing something about that, they are including their own free AV version now on their DL page, still, like I said, not a fan of MS, I use AVG free version and I never have a problem. Ball is really in your court, all I can do is give you the info. :D
I understood.
the Pc is clean now , I will try to DL the file again and see if the game work.
Ps, I use VGA before , but I have Norton now cos is free, it come with my internet service.
I know is not the best but is free for me..lol
Big thanks ..

I included a link a few posts up that takes you right to the free version of AVG as well, its free, updates every four hours and interlocks with your browser to detect threats before you even go to a site. It will tell you not to go to a site, or you can click the "go at your own risk" tab, which I actually do do now and again, but I know how to root anything out if somehow AVG didn't catch it, I don't advise everyone to follow my lead on that.

Like I said, in the end, the choice is really yours my friend. :D
I already told everyone what to do about this, its up in the discussion section, sec, boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=267593

Theres a link to the thread, may want to read into the second half as well, I included another link and the reason why. ;)
Found a YouTube link that is close to the way I do it on customers CP's ( difference is I delete Norton before that, and I create a second account without entering it, from there on that acct you have time to DL the free AVG version and run it which generally will get rid of all or most of it ) then when I do safe mode I have nothing or very little to find. Thats the more advanced way, and more for nit pickers like myself, but if you feel like you have the skills where you won't accidently delete something you shouldn't, you can give it a whirl if you like. The first way is easier and works for anyone though. ;)

Here's the YT link www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIQtVCNUcVU, btw, even if you don't want to do this ( which I do not recommend if you don't feel confident ) you will still see all the files Norton missed for this particular malware. :D
:(
not luck, this is with Norton disable and I cant DL it now.
maybe they fixing the installer?

or I need to reformat the HD ..:(

You downloaded one of the removal tools ? Then you ran the removal tool ? Then, and only then after you did a virus scan with whatever AV you decided to go with you did the L2 file check ?

Your AV should be turned on, do you see the process there ? Did you maybe miss or skip a step ?
thanks, that was the first video I saw and try..
I did not found some of those files, guess cos this one is 7L and it could be a little different.
thanks for all your help , I`ll ask my brother for help.. he`s an Eng.
this is little advance for me.
and don't want to re format the HD .. it will take me few days with all I got to put it back.
not playing today :(
I am going to watch anime.:)
Trying to stick with you here, respond soon so I can see if you missed a step, your AV should be on and you will have done a scan before you ever start the file check on L2.

And all that comes after you use the removal tool.

If you do the steps in the order I said you can play, lets recap.

1. Get the removal tool, whichever one you choose.
2. Run the removal tool.
3. Turn your AV back on, if it reports any error, drop kick that AV ( remove the program )
4. Get whatever clean version AV you are going to use, while its updating definitions run the removal tool again.
5. Turn the AV on and run a scan.
6. Run L2 file check, if its damaged, worst case you may have to uninstall L2 and re DL it.
7. Thats it, your set, and that's worst case and it doesn't involve the advanced way at all.

If a windows file was damaged by the malware, just throw in your recovery disc and run in safe mode to extract, but thats very rare if the malware hasn't been rampaging your CP for awhile already. :D

Anyway's, gotta run, I can't map it out any better then that for you, wish you luck, I think you just missed a step and if you follow this you will be able to play today, well after a couple hours for the L2 DL of course. :D
Adding this link for you in case you don't know how to run recovery in safe mode, I didn't stop to think you may not know how if you have to www.ehow.com/how_7610183_can-recovery-disk-safe-mode.html

This is worst, worst case, I really don't think you will need this, but its here in case. ;)
Simple solution for NORTON: Open "quarantine" list, the L2 file should be there. Add it as "exception" and it should work again.

For me it worked like this, I can load the game as usual.

But next problem is: Upon log-in screen I get the "logging in" message endlessly and I'm stuck there.

Anyone a solution? I did file-check and everything, no success.
Norton will deleted, blocked the Virus , but it will not let you play, about 22 extra corrupted files stay in the system and it will not work until you fix them.
ok..I re do a lot of things that took me this long..
I clean those extra files, make sure the Pc was clean, deleted Norton and install AVG.
full scan and then
DL the file again; this time nothing happen, AVG does not see it, my Pc looks and fell normal for " now" , I run a scan, noting there, I ck with the malware removal program too , does not show anything, I can play the game again.
it looks clean but has nor removed or detect any virus like Norton did before.
It make me wander, WTH.. was Norton seem the wrong thing and corrupting all those files, or I have the Virus sleeping and AVG cant see it .
How did you clean the corrupted files?

Delete and re-download?

To both of you, gratz to you Ronyr, you would not see the file again after you got rid of it the first time, it wasn't the file, it was malware and it corrupted that file. You just did the steps correctly this time, I only added in doing the extra scans as a precaution, to make sure you caught it all. A good choice on switching to AVG, you won't be sorry. It has a slider scale to turn down resources for when you are gaming as well. :D

To the other guy, your getting those glitches and its going to get worse because it wasn't that file that is the problem, you have malware, follow the steps like the others did and you will be fine. That malware attacks the AV as well, it "hides" in files. So that exception you made, your just giving it a free pass on that file it has corrupted and Norton isn't finding the other however many are hiding in your system, get it ?
Stop fapping.
Not to break your world anti norton campain, Bubbles, but... BUT... i have norton since the first version came out and it never gave me any kind of problems. It may be the fact that i'm a technician and a programmer so i know how to make stuff work, but norton is not the evil here.

Unluckly ANY antivirus don't comes out with a book of instructions with it, so users have to figure out alone how to CORRECTLY CONFIGURE all the settings that an antivirus does have (free or not).

So, basically, to fix ANY error, just add the Lineage 2 folder to the exception, and then you will have not anymore any problems with it. Simple. Shorter, Easyer.

If you don't like it it's your own problem, but don't shout all around that norton is the bad guy, because since i have it i never had ANY at all reason to format my PC a single time due to viruses, trojans and so on.. and ALSO, i never had any infection on my PC.

Yeah, that may sound as i'm on their side, but, i can't negate what the facts are. As a programmer and a software analyst i can say: Norton is big and weightless? No, it require an accurate configuration, otherwise it can give some troubles; Norton is efficent? Yes, it's, if you keep it up to date and fully configured.

EDIT: Forgot to say that i have NOT the problem on this thread and i'm a NORTON USER.

To Leandris.
for one of BB`s first post, ( she post the link ) I went and got "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free" , that one will removed the extra corrupted files that Norton miss.
but if you keep trying to fix it with Norton , you may get the same problem over and over, I did.
I have to switch to another Virus scanner.
Thanks BB :)
you went the extra mile to help me and for that I give you a big thanks.
now if can get you to help me level on the game..lol

Blah, Norton is outmoded and outdated, how can you call yourself anything serious and not admit this ? Norton does not update its definitions every four hours like a modern AV should, hell the good free ones all do.

Norton falls short on the bench test for Malware detection, even on the sites they pay to do their reviews.

Way back in the day, Norton was the king of the show, it got the OEM contracts from everybody and they were long term, thats why its still the base OEM for most CP's, though now they do include another option frequently.

One reason Norton does not accept certain definitions that other AV's do is because they are umbrellaed companies that would come up flagged, like Lavasoft.

I don't see how you can claim to be this CP wiz without knowing all of this, my guess is your OS, are very used to Norton and set in your ways. Sure I could get away with using Norton, but why the hell should I when I can get better for free ? What is the point of creating more work and potential work for myself when there is no need ? Like I told the one or so others, keep your Norton, no skin off my back.

Before you retort, do some research, I can back up everything I just said, I get it, you like your Norton, go be happy with it, me I will stick with AVG, at least until I bench test something I like better and works better. AVG is also much more user friendly for the laymen.

Edit: Also, your a freaking moron, add as an exception a corrupted file, your supposed to be some wiz ? LOL, read the **** thread, in some cases it wasn't just L2, but worse issues cropping up, and getting worse the longer left, did you even read the whole thread before you spouted off in defense of your beloved Norton ? The same freaking Norton that advises a complete reformat for this issue when its not needed ? God, stop being dense, read the whole thread, this is a known issue with Norton and crops up frequently. Gee all those free AV's don't have this issue, don't have to be fine tuned by a pro to work correctly, but yeah, your right, Norton is the best.... get the hell out of dodge.
A lot of bla bla blaHater detected, warning, warning!

I do work since i was 17yo, i do know what i'm talking about while you seems t don't know a **** about norton and you still want to claim it as an evil.

Depend on the system i do use AVG myself for other people, but i do go for Norton for a real security. The fact something is FREE mean something, don't you ever asked why it's free?

Before call someone moron, be sure to have enough experience to claim what you say and not what OTHER people/websites/books/paper says.. i tested it by myself, i don't rely on external sources to gather facts, that i have, while you apparently have not.

Before call someone moron, be sure to have enough experience to claim what you say and not what OTHER people/websites/books/paper says.. i tested it by myself, i don't rely on external sources to gather facts, that i have, while you apparently have not.

Hey moron, did you read the part where I said when I bench test something myself ? Try again, I'm 45 you twit, I was playing with the first versions of Norton, it had its day, that day is gone.

AVG, Avast, Kaspersky, heck even McAfee I rate all of them above Norton, easily. AVG and Avast give you a free version to sell you on the even better paid version, guess you don't understand marketing. I get the full version free as a bench tester you moron, I wonder why you don't ? Gee.

Telling laymen that Norton is better for them when you need to tweak it, and know what your doing, and then it still won't give the same real time protection, but thats ok because you or I could fix what went wrong, yeah, real professional in the house right there................................

yeah, you are the showman! Grats!

Here's and even easier one back at you in reverse you twit, why do the other top AV companies give a free version when they all rank higher then Norton, but Norton won't ? Simple, they know they have the superior product and most will buy the full version for all the bells and whistles ( it becomes a suite with a upgrade ) but Norton won't follow suite even when they rank lower ? Simple again, they know they do not have the superior product that even a laymen can use with ease. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. ;)
brbgonnamakeanotherthreadaboutsameissue
Actually, I apologize for the language, I tend to get heated when I see someone advising a laymen to do something that is not suited for them.

The bare facts I stick by though, the language was uncalled for.
My norton have remove L2.bin file he have see Trojan in it name Suspicious.Cloud.7.L

delete the mother ******* antivirus and problem is solved

if you wont click like a ****** on ads you wont have viruses
My norton have remove L2.bin file he have see Trojan in it name Suspicious.Cloud.7.L

It's false positive when the AV identifies a non-malicious file as a virus. I would suggest you to change the AV or check if you can add a exception for the L2.bin file.
I figured out what to do without deleting and reinstalling or changing to a "free" AV. BB, you may not like Norton but as one of the other posters wrote I have had Norton since 1994 or so and have never, not even once had to fix my PC due to a virus that got past Norton. I am 47 and have had a few PCs in my time, built a few, and worked on many. I have tried the freebie AV programs and never had them work correctly without the add on crap. Maybe it's changed now, but, I always say "You get what you pay for". I pay for Norton and it does a **** good job now, as it always has.

Free stuff is never really "free". You will, at some point in time, encounter something that will require you to buy something to fix an issue that the "free" version can't fix. I been there and done that trying to save a little money. Ended up costing me way more time than Norton has ever caused.

I appreciate the posts BB, and the help you gave to some folks. Lets leave it at this........ You dislike Norton, I like Norton, I can't change your mind, nor can you change mine. Again BB thanks for the comments.
"Because Suspicious.Cloud.7.EP is a heuristic detection, this infection might be just a false positive detection from Norton Antivirus heuristic engine."

Now, ask yourself this, how likely is it that ALL OF THESE MEMBERS have a virus on their PC, only targetting L2.bin?
Probably 0% chance.

Now ask yourself this, do you know what Suspicious.Cloud.7... is?
Ill quote the website since your obviously incapable of reading it yourself, "Suspicious.Cloud.7.EP is the generic name for an unknown piece of malware, that is generated by Norton Antivirus or Norton Internet Security heuristic engine".

Norton ran an update, the update thought l2.bin is a virus, it calls it "suspicious.." because that is what Norton calls ALL UNKNOWN VIRUSES, its not their codename for armageddon.

Now, all of these combined, you can safely, 100% guaranteed, assume this is a false positive.

You're obviously just a butthurt kid who fishes for attention, do you actually know anything about PC's?
I get it, you're bad mouthing Norton cause of bad experiences, doesnt mean its bad.
Ive had lots of experiences with viruses (trojans mostly), and norton has always been one of the hardest to 'bypass', so shove the "slow update.." where the sun dont shine.

Also, as i said, i dont use Norton, i use AVG free aswell, simply cause im too cheap to buy an AV (dont really need one tbh), and too lazy to pirate one.

I think thats all i had to say.

So if you want to fix this fast, add l2.bin as an exception in norton!
I had the same problem .. i was able to fix it ... 1) open Norton and Settings -->Computer-->Antivirus and SONAR exclusions. 2) Items to exclude from Autoprotect/Sonar ... etc----> Configure ( pop up Real time exclusions) --> Add Folder , ( add the folder where Lineage is located ) ... apply save etc... DONE... This way you dont ignore the virus signature on your computer but you just add a folder exclusion ....

If Norton erased the L2.bin file then run repair from the updater ... that should fix it .... Run the updater after you have the exception in place....
I am a actice player on Lineage 2, today i tried loading game up and I couldnt, I uninstalled l2 an reinstalled game and same thing happened says missing L2.bin, so i checked my antivirus (Norton) and its in Quarintine, says its a Suspicious.Cloud.7.L Virus Downloading from your site. Says its a High Risk. A Heuristic Virus. Can someone help me with this, because i read up on this virus, it steals your information off your computer and crashs it. please help ty
(Removed, threads were merged, see below)
(Removed, threads were merged)
1. Lots of info on how to fix this if you read these forums and wade through the adolescent drivel of these unprofessional and barely technical posters.

2. Where the heck is the official NCSoft response?? Much of this could have been alleviated by NCSoft paying attention, responding to Symantec right away and communicating directly with its users.

Disappointing, but not atypical of the Lineage experience, player and staff-wise. Let's hope for improvement in the future.

Back to the grind, kids!

So if you want to fix this fast, add l2.bin as an exception in norton!

Your a moron, if you read some did that and still experienced issues, you don't add something as a exception when there is a actual problem. Whether or not people want to keep Norton afterwards, thats on them, I just advise not to. Yeah, just add it as a exception like a couple others did at first and watch it get worse..............

I know sometimes its just a false positive, but your a idiot just blindly assuming they all are Znipoo. That simple, especially when a few tried your approach it it messed them up worse, try actually reading before opening your mouth. Also it wasn't just L2 bin. if you had actually read you moron, bin. just seems to be the file Norton does catch that gets corrupted. Once you use the removal tool you'll see the other files Norton was missing. Once again try reading, blindly assuming there isn't a real problem is just as bad as blindly assuming there always is one, you twit.

Nowhere do I say you have to get rid of Norton, I advise it, but I never say you have to, I already said a million times whether you keep Norton afterwards is your own call, its no skin off my back.

Sorry you have been burned by free products before, but there are many good freeware products out there, and many very good "light" versions of pay products that are free. The problem a lot of people have with some of even the good ones is during the install they just blindly click ok, never do this, always get rid of the "free" stuff coming with it by unchecking the boxes during install.

AVG free is a very good light version of AVG suite, a friend of mine swears by Avast, there are good light versions, you just have to do your research, and you really don't know about freeware if you just assume everything free comes with a catch or will cause you problems. Even for someone that isn't quite up on these things, just reading the actual real user review's will clue you in on whats good and whats a pile of BS you should stay away from. The consumer is responsible for doing their own homework headed in, if they don't do this of course they will wind up getting a lot of garbage they should have avoided.

Like I said, nowhere do I say you must get rid of Norton, I just advise doing so, whether you do is your own choice.
It's false positive when the AV identifies a non-malicious file as a virus. I would suggest you to change the AV or check if you can add a exception for the L2.bin file.

No it isn't a false positive, if you read what happened with a few that just added it as a exception you would know that, they experienced worse problems afterwards, I'm sure some of the cases are just a false positive, but really what harm comes from getting a removal tool to be sure ? Use your head here, just blindly assuming its a false positive is just as bad as assuming there is always a issue.

(Edit: If people have indeed done this and it failed, it means they did not do it correctly, i.e only making an exception when performing a virus scan, or something like this)

As i said in my other post, you were going to reply to me with a bunch of nonsense and ignore everything i said.
Cause you can never be wrong.
I was right! what do i win?

You're an idiot.
Please have all these people upload their l2.bin files and we can analyze them together, if they are clean, you get out of the forum forever, id be thanked for a hundred years to come.

Anyone who actually knows anything about PCs will know you're clueless and just spamming to get your post count up.

And i cant find it (just skimmed through the thread), where does anyone have a problem, thats not l2.bin?

You are probably the dumbest person on this forum if you think someone has made a virus that only attacks l2.bin.
Oh and wait!!! only Norton detects it!!! but you said Norton sucked a few moments ago, doesnt that contradict what you just said?
If norton is the only AV that actually detects the virus, its the best AV out there.

Again, do you know what "Suspicious.cloud.." actually is?

Yes you moron, its a evolved piece of adware/malware, its up to version 9 or above by now, and the old versions get code changes and become problems now and again. If you actually took the time to read you would see some just ran the removal tool and then did a file check, never added a exception and the problem was gone, some added it as a exception and they developed worse issues, ad's opening, redirects to web sites, CP slow down, now if you keep advising them just to add it as an exception your a complete idiot.

Your just some moron wannabe that thinks he/she knows a lot when you know jack, even a doctor would say while I don't think you have a issue sir you should have it looked at.

Just advise getting a removal tool and running it, what part isnt getting through your dense scull ? I'm sure some of the cases are or may just be false positives, but clearly they all aren't you moron, which you would know if you could actually read. If after you run one of the removal tools and run the file check if Norton is still flagging it, by all means, add the exception.

Now explain how the people who ran the removal tool and did a file check never had to add the exception you flaming twit, or the ones that added the exception and their whole day went to hell and had to do the steps anyways ?
Your just a arrogant little twit with a little knowledge, just enough to do damage to other peoples day. Anyone with half a brain and real knowledge would say at least check it out first, you ? No, telling them to go bury their heads in the sand, its all good, your a real piece of work.

Quote the person who added an exception, and which then got worse issues... no nvm, im done arguing with you, as i said before, you're never wrong, everyone else is stupid etc etc, typical forum troll.

"Yes you moron, its a evolved piece of adware/malware, its up to version 9 or above by now, and the old versions get code changes and become problems now and again"
What?
Im assuming you mean the "virus" that hid in l2.bin ().
So.. everyone should switch to Norton with your logic, considering only people with Norton has been reporting this issue.
= Norton is the best AV.
That is what you're pretty much saying.

Oh god, im not even gonna bother replying again, you're just a bad forum troll, anyone who actually listens to your advice needs to check this out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Source_criticism

Dont bother replying, i wont read, further posts from you regarding this is obviously just to boost your confidence, kinda pathetic, but gz, you "win" Mr. troll.

Here's one you flaming halfwit, sorry you can't actually read, or take the time to read what you are commenting on. I get paid to do this you moron, what are you, some little kid playing on daddy's PC ? Or some guy that has gained some knowledge over the years and suddenly thinks he knows all ?

Your the worst kind of idiot, one with just enough knowledge to do damage.

Just like I said its up to version 9b now actually, and the previous versions all get code updates and crop up now and again. I asked you to explain what malware was, you can't, if you had actually read anything I even kind of give you the answer.

I asked you to explain why Norton has these problems, you can't, once again if you could read I've given you this answer as well. Only Norton experiencing this doesn't mean they are better you clueless twit, and shows you have absolutely no clue how malware works. L2 bin. is not the virus, it never was, its a corrupted file, one of the malewares "victim's". The malware would also create a file named much the same. I never wish harm to others, but in your case I would love to dump one of my old rundll32 toys into your CP and watch your face explode over the following weeks until you finally had to reformat.

Your just a total moron that only knows how to give bad advice, " Hey guys, bury your head in the sand, it will all be ok."

Really, how hard is it to get a removal tool and run it to be sure ? I'm sure even a halfwit like you can handle the DL process once someone provided the link, which I did, clicking the buttons to install it may be a bit beyond you though................

Or if you read one of the very first posters, she ran the tool, repaired the files, kept Norton and didn't have to run a exception, once again this reading thing eludes you. Your just a moron that has to blindly assume they are right even if it causes others harm, the worst kind of idiot.

Did you do anything to attempt to help anyone with the issue ? No, you wanted to come in and be a SA and look like a know it all, instead you came off as a complete tool. I said I am sure some of the cases are just false positives, but they obviously all are not. The proper advice even in the cases that are is to get the removal tool and be safe, but that concept just bounces off your dense skull.

Or this poor kid, thats a hell of a lot of stuff for a false positive to be causing you flaming halfwit twit. I'm happy I was able to help him out, while you would have had him bury his head in the sand and told him just pretend there's no problem.

Znipoo, helping no one, harming others, bow to the moron.
If its a false positive you have nothing to worry about, if it isn't and you just add it a an exception as Znipoo wants you to do, you are in for a world of hurt, really up to you.

What do you mean by restore, restore the file and add an exception, or restore CP to an earlier date ?

Restoring to an earlier date to get rid of a virus or malware is never advisable, it can work, but rarely does, its better to solve the issue. You actually have me curious what you have whited out in your quarantine bin btw. :D

Oh and Znipoo, I'm aware you're trying to be cute by saying malware is a virus while I'm not, any halfwit knows malware is a virus, there's a reason we classify it as malware though and other names, its specifies the threat, it in itself is not "just" a virus, but I'm sure you have no clue about this, keep on keepin on being your moronic self with a few grains of knowledge and thinking you know it all though, the world need's twits like you to I guess.

Just restoring the deleted suspicious cloud file (Lin2.bin) or whatever you call it to its previous state!

I really want to remove Norton and install those AV like you recommended.

BUT!!!!!

My computer is dirty. A new AV might remove all of them for me, and it would be a pain in the apple to get them all back again!!! *cries*
2. Where the heck is the official NCSoft response?? Much of this could have been alleviated by NCSoft paying attention, responding to Symantec right away and communicating directly with its users.

This incident had nothing to do with NCsoft. And everything to do with Norton, and their users just clicking ok on anything that pops up.

You want Juji/Vali to call them idiots? I dont think that would be appropriate.

LOL, yes people can grow fond of their little virus zoo's I guess.

The damaged programs and app's you may have to re DL it once they are all cleared out, yeah, it can be a pain. Thats why people are willing to pay others to do all that and this for them, which works out well for me. :p

no virus zoo here, just programs! :p lol! :p

Why can't you live closer to me!!!!! QQ" Come fix this for me now!!!!! ;)

Good thing my friend just read the thread and told me it won't affect them, gonna do the changes now! xD

You should stop posting stupid stuff w/o any valid proofs, I am guessing you are another person who heard it from your friend, who heard it from his uncles brothers friend. I'm one step closer to block you like 80% of the forum users already did.

Scan result: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/8dd2ffe99b1a062a6bb38203240b3cb6d7f8e2e61d99d624ba ea573bb2ed4015/analysis/1402803676/

Anyone with a brain can assure it's a false positive after checking the scan result (3/53). I used Norton in the past and it's the worst AV someone could use. I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security and all the problems caused by Norton blocking my programs are gone. Btw I use a lot the internet banking to transfer money and never was leaked any cent, so I can assure KIS is doing the job perfectly.

I recommed people to get ride of Symantec products aka Norton AV's :)

Nectar, read the threads, I have been advising the same, except I say AVG, I mention Avast and Kapersky as well. There have been 6 + cases were it was malware for sure and the people needed to follow the steps I gave them, and are happy I helped them.

Anyone where its just a false positive only loses a few minutes of their time if they download the removal tool and run it and replace the bin. file, cost them nothing. You may not be aware but there are 5-6 threads for this same issue, yes I think some are false positives, but I also know of many cases in those threads where it was malware and those people are happy they took those few minutes to solve the issue.

Norton itself is susceptible to SC 1-9 and a lot of other malware, I explained why in one of the other threads. Its better to be safe then sorry, in the cases where it was malware it was corrupting the L2 bin. file as well, so it reads the same as the false positives.

I would suggest to people get ride of the Symantec products coz I used it in the past and I had such issues with different programs. PS: I don't use any patch, keygen or any cracked program, everything installed on my PC it's paid just to avoid such headaches but still when I used Norton it blocked and deleted my programs. I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 now ;)

Nectar, next time read the thread, I advise the same on the AV. There are also people in this very thread where it was malware and causing other issues as well. Just telling them to add it as an exception is bad advice for the cases when its actually malware, its that simple.
In relation to submission [3536915].

Upon further analysis and investigation we have verified your submission and, as such, the detection(s) for the following file(s) will be removed from our products:

2334C0600DB34E480FB12C877A1B65E0 - L2.exe

The updated detection(s) will be distributed in the next set of virus definitions, available via LiveUpdate or from our website at http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/defs.download.html

Yeah, I know how malware works good enough. And this is just Norton identifying ALL Themida-packed applications as generic malware. They simply did not know about this executable yet, that's all.

I already said I agree its a false positive in some cases, it isn't in all of them though, can't you read ? There are people in this very thread that actually had malware, and others in the dup threads.

The scan reads the same for the people that actually had malware as it did for the false positives. It cost the false positives a few minutes of their time, nothing more if they got the removal tool. For the ones that actually had malware it was invaluable. That's it, that simple.

This goes even more to my point about getting a AV that constantly updates its definitions btw. Norton doesn't, Norton also is susceptible to SC 1-9 and other malware for other reasons I have already explained in this thread.
Waiting next for the dumb@ss question of why the malware would pick the same files to corrupt that also come off as false positives, anyone with any knowledge should know why, so please, someone ask and expose yourself for your lack of knowing why. :D
BigBubbles- I did what you advised, however I ran ALL of the AV programs in the link you provided. As I stated before, I am a Norton user. EVERY SINGLE one of those AV programs detected and removed multiple threats. The total count of removed malware/spyware numbered in the mid hundreds. Norton did not see these things. I kept 2 of the AV programs, in addition to Norton.

I still have 6 months paid of Norton AV, which I will use up. But I will not renew Norton, instead I will use the AV program that you recommended. Thank you for your help, it worked great and I am back in game with a great running PC.

Again, for those who think this guy doesn't know his stuff...

NORTON DID NOT detect the viruses (3) and 500+/- Malware/Spyware.

Thank you BigBubbles.
thanks bubble! <3

did some modifying! :p

It's all fixed now! YAY! more town AFK time! :p
NP, the reason I posted the steps and the info is to help the ones that actually had the malware issue, thanks not needed, but is nice.

Also, I know a lot of people like to run a lot of programs they think help out with their CP and stuff, a lot of them are just rubbish, some of them are good to very good though.

I only use my AV, but I do use one program that used to be freeware ( they took donations like most freeware makers do, but wasn't required ) which is now a paid for program. The program is called TweakNow, and although its now a paid for program you can still get the free version's as long as they are made before 2012, just google around and you will find it. For laymen this is a invaluable tool, for advanced users, it will do a lot of what you already take the time to do in one click, and some other stuff which even we don't.

I highly recommend looking into getting it. If you get the older free version ( which is what I still use ) its going to be from a mirror, so scan it before you install it is all, I am sure some @ssholes put bad versions out there as well, so always make sure. :D
This incident had nothing to do with NCsoft. And everything to do with Norton, and their users just clicking ok on anything that pops up.

You want Juji/Vali to call them idiots? I dont think that would be appropriate.

A number of NCSoft users are experiencing a problem with the game, and will potentially continue to experience this problem. Juji/Vali/someone could easily communicate something official to users and additionally report the problem to Symantec to re-assess why the bin is being flagged. It would take less effort to do both of those things than all the angsty posting time in this thread. Probably would take little more time than it took to merge the threads.

I think you've lowered your expectations too much! :)
Actually, have you ever seen them on the boards on weekends?
Norton thinks L2bin is too invasive, so it's wiping it out. Choices are either to exclude it and move on with the hope that a real ****/virus isn't somehow piggybacking on the bin, or disable Norton altogether and try a different antivirus program.

Is this only happening to Norton users, or is L2bin also flagging other AV software?

I use Norton 360 and have the same issue
Rumour has it that NC customer support cant log onto the forum due to l2bin.

About time they woke up to their customrs needs:mad:
Just got confirmation that the NCsoft team is looking into it. A post will be made about it soon.

Again, Thank you Juji!
I am also a Norton user and everything is working fine for me since last sunday night, playing and Norton running like always
Adventurers,

We're working with Symantec to resolve the issue with L2.bin being detected as "Suspicious.Cloud.7.L". Until the issue is resolved, you can manually add L2.bin as an exception and continue playing without issue. For added security we recommend that you run a different virus scan to verify your files are secure.

We'll post more information as it come across.

Look at that Znipoo, official response, same as mine, get clowned more you twit. :p
Symantec has given up the battle vs virus already:

For all you Norton users that were blindly defending them, I admire your loyalty, but when the parent company is admitting their software is bad, I think its time you gave up your fight about them being good. I didn't google this link, I was going off of self knowledge, I have Daikon to thank for this little gem. :D

I hate to burst your bubble (you know you were asking for that) :-) but you missed the point of the article you cite.

Symantec is not saying their software is bad, they are saying antivirus software in general is obsolete due to the form such threats now take.

An example of a more effective modern protection technique is Fire Eye, but that is enterprise-grade, not something for your home machine.

No I got it totally, some of the parent companies named below you should look up, they own the AV's I say are good, and they have long incorporated the methods Symantec is just starting to. Even AVG free has an active link scanner, nevermind the paid version. AVG, Avast, Kapersky have always done definitions every four hours, not every few day's, though Symantec 'claim's' they do pulses now, they clearly don't besides now and again when there's a major issue, besides that they stick to their old format. The other AV's don't use a detection system that actually includes something that is known malware now, or exclude some definitions just because there is a conflict with an umbrellaed company, here's Symantec's list en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mergers_and_acquisitions_by_Symantec which I became aware of long ago when Ad Aware was free ware and was then aquired by Lavasoft, who in turn were umbrellaed by Symantec.

That list and using the Heuristic algorithms they use which have long been compromised and used as malware themselves is why I say Norton is outdated and terrible. Look up their best rating, not even a mid rating, just the site that gives them the best one, even they say they test low on malware detection, and guess what, look in the top right corner, you will see a little yellow symbol, that symbol means Symantec paid for that review. When even the ones you are paying for a glowing report have something negative to say, its time to wake up.
