Classic Server Thread.

Innova.eu just recently announced that they will be hosting a Lineage II Classic server now joining L2.kr and L2.ru with having a classic server.

Does NCwest have any current plans on the possibility of releasing an l2classic server? or is there any way that we the players can petition to make this happen? I have over 50 friends alone that have expressed interest in coming back to the Lineage II genre only for the previous updates of the game not GoD and I feel that NCwest can do this better than Innova can to satisfy our interests.
I feel that NCwest can do this better than Innova can to satisfy our interests.

if ncwest will ban bots like l2kr is doing then i can agree with that :D

well it's more like, I'm American and want to play on a US server. Innova has tons of bots too...its not like they run their servers much better than here.
Innova has like 10% of AFKers from what we have here.. and from what some people say.. most don't use them in PVP.
nova wanted own core, then they realized pvp programs arent working as well there.
L2korea classic server has L2Store or old system?
its play to pay, no l2store, and koreans have some time card, WAYYYYY BETTER THAN TRULY *HIT.
i was under the impression that their classic servers were still using a lot of what exists now rather than truly classic game versions.

having not played on a classic server...
i guess there is no way for me to know for sure.
Do you have a link to this announcement? Because as far as I can tell this is just speculation cause there is no official announcement I can find anywhere related to Innova/4Game.

On a Side note the NEW 'Classic Servers' are a mix of oldschool settings but will run with current updated Graphics and Client. They will however support only certain things like in older chronicles, like the current update is up till B-grade I believe and oldschool skills, none of this awakening things etc, and each update they are adding new things slowly similar to how they used to but not 100% the same no.

You're a moron and its showing, KR is the only region they employ that method, and they still have a store in game, and its not a true classic server, its updated right up to Ertheia, that means all the drop nerfs and everything on top of that added to old XP rates making it a grind fest of even more epic proportions than even L2 was when it was first released. If you read any of the discussions or what Elmar has posted, their concept for their "classic" server is no one ever making top level or having top gear.

So KR has all the bells and whistles that come with "truly free" and they pay either by the month or minute on top of that over there you twit.

Also, even over there where they love grindfests, the "classic" server is a massive failure, so I really doubt we'll see NC spend the money to open a server over here for it.

Actually no, the classic server in Korea has no ingame store, it's pure P2P. And the upcoming European Classic server will also be P2P
http://2p.com/8274426_1/Lineage-2-European-Classic-Server-WIll-Be-Pay-To-Play-by-Apophis.htm

The Korean "regular" servers are F2P till lvl 85 and P2P with an ingame store after that, but this thread is about the classic server.

PS I believe they are opening a fourth Classic server in Korea, not really sure how you in your infinite wisdom decided it's a massive failure

Because unlike you I read what Elmar translates and posts, maybe you should try that before opening your mouth, they downgraded on their servers Elmar said, yet here's some clown saying they are expanding, LOL, sorry, but I and just about anyone that knows Elmar will take his word on something a million times before we think about something you say even once.

About the KR servers having no in game store until 85, you're wrong, you can get the vit and XP items just like here.

On the classic servers, I just assumed, if they don't then its even mire sadistic than I thought, Who the hell wants to play "classic" L2 with all the drop nerfs and everything else that has come since, and before you say it doesn't have them, it most certainly does. Without a in game store to help it must be mind numbingly repetitive.

"What dis you do today ?" "I spent 19 hours in cruma swamp, killing mobs wearing no grade and using no shots, then I ran back to Elven village because I only made 500 adena and I didn't even ding. :("

Edit: Also, next time take the time to read your own link before opening your mouth and posting it, it says if they open the classic servers ( they are pre registering for them to see if there's enough interest ) there will be a store, just no XP/vit items or anything with weapons or armor that will effect gameplay. Obviously you can read, now take the next step, thats comprehending what you have read.

Elmar is a nice guy and all but he has his obsessions and often forgets people don't go on fora to say how great things are, they go there to whine and moan. So don't assume what he says is gospel, it's just his opinion filtered through his own prejudices.

But nice attempt at a comeback from the inaccuracies you throw around. Korea announced a new, 4th, Classic server a couple of weeks ago. Classic is the only expanding part of Lineage 2 in Korea, the regular servers are contracting (merging). Oh and nice attempt to pretend you didn't understand what I said (that Korea is F2P till 85) and make it out like I said something inaccurate. I didn't. Never said "Korea doesn't have an ingame store till 85". I said the Classic servers have NO INGAME STORE and are P2P. Regular servers are F2P till 85 and P2P after that, with an ingame store.

The only dimwit in this thread posturing and spewing inaccuracies is you.

PS I hate GoD with a passion and F2P with an even greater passion. Personally I 'd happily play a classic P2P server, I 've been "endgame" since C4 so my epeen has been stroked enough, I don't mind being a casual lowbie running around Cruma.

OMG, you are clueless, Elmar works over there as in Asia, he translates the stuff from the source, not through filtered opinion, he's been doing it for years on Rochand and years before that for years on Ellie as well.

Read my sig and once again work on that comprehension thing, I was "endgame" up to, and slightly into GoD, when I quit, I only play casually since my "return", so for the most part, I agree with you. I would want a truly classic server though, the graphic and interface upgrades would be appreciated, but the drop nerfs thrown on top of the old mindless grind ?

No, TYVM, the grind was mind numbing enough back then, there's no need to make it even worse than it was.

On spewing out inaccuracies, I see you failed to respond about even reading your own link, now you know Innova can't implement anything right ? They can only create the classic servers because that was included in the patch, guess what that means ? The KR's were the ones that put the store in there to begin with, now I have to wonder why they did such and didn't actually implement the store themselves.................

I'm sure Elmar will see this thread and put my ponderings to rest though. :D

Afaik Elmar lived in Germany and China not Korea, he translates what he sees on the Korean version of this forum (plaync.co.kr ), he translates opinions of Korean players that go to their version of boards.lineage2.com and mostly whine, like people do over here.

What Inaccuracies? They announced a classic server, they will put out a feeler in September, but they are committed to it being P2P with no store.
Oh and Innova had an ingame store loooooooooong before Korea (or we) had one. So not sure what on earth you are talking about? Innova's original model in Russia was F2P, "premium" subscription with XP and drop bonuses (I 'm talking Gracia times) and an ingame store. Korea's version of the ingame store came a couple of years after Innova had implemented theirs and were making good money.

Can type, can read, but can't even comprehend what you yourself have typed, never mind someone else. :p

You want to bet on this ? Simply put, you are very, very wrong. KR created the store, Elmar is not the only one that used to translate stuff from over there, I did as well when I played the game seriously. Creating something and implementing it is not Innovas province, thats all KR, Innova can tinker with things by not implementing certain things, or implementing things KR themselves have put in but haven't pulled the switch on yet, but they have no creative license. NC also has independent servers in Japan and China ( and in SEA again from what Elmar has said ) you twit, they are also run by KR and are F2P. The store was there before L2 was a twinkle in Innovas eye, I can go find one of my own posts from years ago on these boards asking that they implement it here since they had it there, and Innova didn't even exist yet..........................

I've asked Elmar to stop in and clarify some stuff I may or may not have full info on to enlighten me, so I will wait on further responses until then.

Also, read the bolded part and go read your own link again you twit, there will be a store, just with certain items not in it.
OK, for purposes of clarification, here is the original announcement from Innova.EU:
https://4gameforum.com/showthread.php?t=29186&page=5#98

I have asked Vali to merge all the Classic Server threads, but he didn't deem this necessary. So here again:
With a patch on May 28, during the Addenda update (something we will, according to Juji, get soon), a dual purpose client was introduced where monster textures, maps etc. are in part used for both the Classic version and what they call "Live Servers" in Korea, i.e. what we have now. So implementing the Classic Servers is not a technical problem but a political decision. The files are all there, every player automatically gets them when the Launcher updates, whether you want them or not. The company just has to hook up a server machine.

As to the drop rates on the Classic Servers, they are 1/6 of the original Chronicles, like what we have now on our servers. But this is not an artifact of the dual purpose files. The Classic Monsters have compeltely different drop lists, dropping the old Animal Skins and Coarse Bone Powder. So the developers deliberately went and set the adena drops at 1/6. This is not a bug, not a misunderstanding, they do it fully on purpose. To understand the purpose, take a look at the prices in the Classic L2 Store:
http://nshop.plaync.com/lineage2/goods/list?categoryPath=1_13
1 NCoin is 1 Won. It's not that only L2 is so expensive in Korea, everything is. In an average restaurant, a bowl of beef noodles costs around 2000 Won. It was not always like this. 100 years ago, before the Japanese occupation, you could buy a whole cow for 1 Won. There was a horrible inflation in Korea. This has traumatized everybody and leads to the developers' obsession with "maintaining asset values". Any appeals by Juji to change the drop rates will probably not be heeded. You can't discuss with people when there is this kind of self-destructive mass-hysteria going on.

Please note, there are only subscriptions (plus a free hat) in the Classic Store, nothing else. But this is again a political decision by NCKorea. The Store is set up by the local administrations. Like for example in Korea there were, for historical reasons, never any Japanese items, whereas we have Samurai Suits and whatnot. It's up to Innova or NCWest what they will put in their Classic Store.

And I am a Shanghai resident with a German passport :)
Thank's Elmar, so Enrs you twit, they do have a store just as I surmised, go grow a brain plix plox. :p

Elmar, is he right and the classic servers are expanding and not contracting now and are a huge success ? Kinda curious on that, thought you posted somewhere they had deemed the project a failure ?
As to the success or failure of the Classic Servers, fact is that the revenue generated by Lineage 2 increased from 11,593,000,000 Won in the 1st fiscal quarter 2014 to 13,573,000,000 Won in the 2nd fiscal quarter, which is exclusively due to the Classic Servers. It is a fact that originally there was very positive feedback:
http://www.inven.co.kr/webzine/news/?news=110914&site=lineage2&page=2
And since people could get a free Buff Agathion for a week or two when they subscribed for at least a month, the launch of the Classic Servers did wash considerable cash into NCsoft's coffers.

After a few days, I think it was not even a week, the bot population exploded and the mood changed. What you can see from the Korean forums, where the standardized signatures automatically show the current level of the character, is that people don't level up. Most are in their late 30s at the moment. In the current event only D-Grade shots are given out as reward:
http://lineage2.plaync.com/classic/event/sa/140814_tan/index

Since most players in Korea use game time cards where you pay by the minute for each minute you spend in a non-peace zone, i.e. when you actually play the game, a low level sort of indicates that people are sitting around in town a lot, an activity from which NCKorea doesn't get any money. That notwithstanding, on August 14 a 5th and 6th Classic Server were opened:
http://www.inven.co.kr/webzine/news/?news=116105&site=lineage2
In the next quarterly earnings report we will see whether this really paid off :)
So basically they are fishing for cash and playing the rolling server concept, we won't have any idea until we can see the "live" player base on the new servers and see if they become stagnant as well.

Anyone reading this that doesn't understand the rolling server concept, in Asia, even when they know they won't fill the new servers, they open more and more and let them run a little while and then contract and contract and then re open a couple new ones to see if its worth doing again to fish for more profits.

They are fishing for "whales", a one percent population that more than funds opening each new server, rich players that will do and spend anything to be number one, so rich players that aren't number one migrate to the new servers and new ones join here and there, then they contract to start the process all over again.
With the Classic Servers the situation is more complicated :)

The first three servers, Talking Island, Gludio and Giran, are hopelessly overcrowded, while the 4th server, Aden, is almost empty. Therefore NCKorea had two weeks ago an event where a free server transfer from those three servers to Aden was offered:
http://lineage2.plaync.com/classic/event/sa/140730_bufftime/aden/index
This obviously did not catch on, the main problem being that the 1/6 drop rate is intended so that nobody can afford shots and people are forced to hunt in full parties, with two or three damage dealers hammering away at one monster. But forming a 9 person party requires a high online population. So everybody makes their characters on the three servers that are already above their capacity.

On the two new servers there are again the start-up benefits, this time tied to reaching certain levels, i.e. the developers are trying to motivate players to actually level up at least to lvl 15, aka spend game time points:
http://lineage2.plaync.com/classic/event/sa/140730_bufftime/step/index
In addition to that D-Grade shots are given out via the event I linked on the previous page. Whether this will induce players to make characters and actually play them remains to be seen.

The reduced drop rate, i.e. the necessity to make shotless parties, i.e. the necessity to have a minimum online population for the game to be playable is the main obstacle why a Classic Server probably won't work at NCWest, with a territory that stretches over half the planet, i.e. no real peak time. At Innova they only have to cater to the time zones between London and Vladivostok, so it's easier to concentrate the population in a certain time window. If NCWest is wise, they will first look how things work out at Innova and only then make a decision about those Classic Servers, maybe one for the North/South Americans and one for European players.

At some point you have to figure out you 're reading the opinions of the Korean Spudniks and Pirotesas and Smitties. The people that count don't care so much about shots, they play classic cause they view it as a reboot of the game. NCSoft has shifted the bulk of their devs over to the classic concept the majority of the players that matter (again whose opinions you won't read like you would never read the opinion of anybody that mattered over here till I dunno orphus died) believe that reboot and that dev team probably is intended to create a separate branch of the game where the GoD stupidity never happened. So that's why they play.

Beyond that sure NCSoft wants to make money, and sure their business model from 10 years ago of making their money via kickbacks from internet cafes is probably a bit dated, but ultimately, the major failure in Korea is the "regular" servers. So far the classic ones haven't failed. They might yet fail, nobody knows, but so far the regular servers are bleeding players and have been bleeding players for oh close to 3 years now.

God you are hopeless, he isn't going off player opinion, he's telling you pure stats. Do you not understand that yes they made a nice profit when the servers first launched as everyone that wanted to play them went and bought time.

Since then the "live" player level has remained stagnant, that means NC is not getting anymore income boosts coming in from those players as they are not buying more time, its free for them to sit in town if they want~~

The bots will make enough to cover their monthly by straight out RMTing, but that won't cover NC's costs, its a bad sign when they offer free transfers ( something unthinkable really ) and its a failure.

He's telling you basic stats and real info and you keep thinking its just player opinion being filtered, LOL.

no it hasn't. Go read the other stats, I think they 've been killing on average 10000 accounts per week (=bots). That's effectively 2 whole servers, banned, every week, exclusively on Classic. Try to wrap your tiny brain around that.

They have full servers, but I m talking full full to the point you can't login on peak times.

They shift their devs over to Classic so they clearly see a future there. They are opening new servers, and contrary to whatever you have heard NCSoft doesn't like opening new servers only to merge them 3 months later. So they are committed to the classic concept. Beyond that I 'll trust the opinions of the Koreans we 've been working with since C5 over the Korean Spudniks that post on their version of public forums.

When he tells you the level base has become stagnant, which means the levels are not climbing anymore in case you are so slow you didn't catch on, that is a trackable stat. Elmar doesn't get his hard info from the forums you clueless twit, he looks at the stats, does he also read the forums to get a general feel ? Yes, he does, only an idiot wouldn't.

Now how does NC generate most of its income ? He already told you, through selling game time, not monthly, by the minute. If those players levels aren't rising ( thats a trackable stat you idiot ) that means no new income, what next part of this do you need me to hammer through your dim witted little head until you can grasp the basic concept ?

I am here to serve. :p

and this is why I find it a waste of time even responding to your delusions

What you can see from the Korean forums, where the standardized signatures automatically show the current level of the character, is that people don't level up. :)

afaik there is a stat sheet for the regular servers showing the breakdown of the population by level ranges. Afaik there's no similar stat sheet for classic, like he told you himself in plain English, he's "tracking" the signatures of the Spudniks and the BigBubbles' that post on the Korean public forums.
yeeeeees i can play c5 once more! adios ncwest !

as for people moaning about bots, u dont bot 100 accounts when its pay 2 play ;)
u bot 100 accounts when its free 2 play
No need to get excited. Here are the Korean kill numbers:
http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=267985#4
NCKorea is killing 10,000 accounts per week because those accounts have been created with stolen/forged credit card information. NCsoft never sees one Won from the bots.

As to the opinions, they are always subjective. Therefore I try to stick with quarterly earnings reports and official statements. Nevertheless I can not ignore when there is not one single positive player post under an official article:
http://lineage2.plaync.com/classic/board/gmroom/view?articleId=835
In Korea it's not different from over here. The 20 million dollars per fiscal quarter that NCWest is generating at the moment don't come from the few endgame dimwits who spend 500 dollars per month on NCoins but from the many many nameless fools who get lured into playing the Aden Wheel or whatever for 10 or 20 dollars a time. The "players that matter" are economic nonfactors :p

NCKorea would not go to the trouble of giving out free Shots if there wouldn't be a real problem in that respect. Of course this is just a band-aid solution, like in Freya and High Five when the developers were pumping Vesper Noble Stones and S-Gems into the servers via events because the game mechanics could not cover the demand.

But the fact that they run the current Shot event shows that they do care. They are hoping that there is a future in the Classic Servers. There is definitely no future in the live servers. You can get an impression of their active population (as opposed to shop dwarves) via the Olympiad stats:
http://lineage2.plaync.com/gameinfo/olympiad/lastOlympiadInfo?serverId=7
(the square table in the lower left corner of the page; Devianne in this example is an old, unmerged server)

The importance that NCsoft attributes to the two versions can be seen from the development team headcount. The 27 developers at the end of last year were split up into a Live Server Team, 7 people under the leadership of Gang Jeong-won, and a Classic Server Team, 17 people under the leadership of An Ji-seop (Nam Taek-rim, the original Chief Developer, was fired over the Ertheia disaster and the subsequent server merge). In other words, there are more than twice as many developers for the Classic version than for our Live version, with the further complication that the Classic developers are the veterans who participated in the development of the original Chronicles whereas what we have left are "newbie devs":

afaik there is a stat sheet for the regular servers showing the breakdown of the population by level ranges. Afaik there's no similar stat sheet for classic, like he told you himself in plain English, he's "tracking" the signatures of the Spudniks and the BigBubbles' that post on the Korean public forums.

LOL, you really are an idiot, and yes they keep track of the overall level range on the classic servers as well you twit, he said you can check. You don't know Elmar very well at all, when he gives you some basic info he's talking about hard core stats, not hearsay.

Also, getting a general feel for the overall player mood is actually quite relevant over there, they have a much larger pool that posts than we ever did, and you could track our mood here quite well, only an idiot such as yourself reads only a few players posts instead of all and reading between the lines while doing so....

Go on not listening to me you twit, I would as well after getting spanked by me so many times in one thread. Do we really have to review all the things you've been wrong about in just this one thread ? :D

Oh here little moron ( yes, thats you Enrs ) look, hard stats for you, you know those little things Elmar uses that you said he doesn't ? Wrong once again, I think you may want to stop posting now, this one thread could be a record breaking amount of being wrong about so many things in such a short time by any one person. :p

And if they needed to "inflate" their population they could have easily let half the bots live for a month or two, especially on low pop servers ;)

and now maybe you understand why the "factor" Koreans that have been keeping us privately supplied with translations and accounts to sample the content 6 months before it hit NA are saying Classic = reboot, fresh branch, no GoD, good L2?

GoD killed L2 in Korea. No joke, people quit in droves. Classic has maybe a hope of reviving it.
And if they needed to "inflate" their population they could have easily let half the bots live for a month or two, especially on low pop servers ;)

Read what he posted, it wasn't botting that was the reason for most bans, fraud earns NC zero dollars. Fraud does earn dollars for the people commiting the fraud though, zero reason to keep those accounts active, a lot of reasons to ban them.

He agrees with you mostly on what you are saying here, once again, learn to read. Whether it will work or not is a matter of opinion atm though. Yes classic has a chance, but I think it has to be "truly" classic.
yeeeeees i can play c5 once more! adios ncwest !

as for people moaning about bots, u dont bot 100 accounts when its pay 2 play ;)
u bot 100 accounts when its free 2 play

C5 is quite a ways off Recka even if this doesn't fail. Also, there were bots way before F2P, and they have a massive bot problem even in KR were it isn't.

Bots are to make the RMTers RL dollars, this won't change just because its P2P, as long as there is profit to be had doing it, it will exist.
and now maybe you understand why the "factor" Koreans that have been keeping us privately supplied with translations and accounts to sample the content 6 months before it hit NA are saying Classic = reboot, fresh branch, no GoD, good L2?

I have understood, and posted, this all along :)

Ever since Chief Developer Han Jae-hyeok, the father of GoD, was fired in the end of 2011, the rapidly accelerated downfall of Lineage 2 (online numbers are dropping since 2004) could not have been missed by anybody.

What I am saying is that the Classic Servers are objectively a failure. They do not meet the targets announced by the developers themselves. Castle Sieges were supposed to get activated in the "heat of summer" aka July. In two weeks, on September 1st, the Korean autumn begins (they have a solar farmer's calendar), and there is no way whatsoever that a sufficient number of players will reach lvl 76 by then and be able to deal with the Castle-holding NPCs. The few "factors" who are helping you out are objectively nonfactors. They have no impact whatsoever on the server mechanics :p
Bottom line here is I highly doubt NC will open a classic server here anyways, even if they succeed over there, also knowing Innova will have the EU market there is to be had well before even thinking about one here.

A very big part of NCwest customer base has always been EU, even back on original Bartz which was NCwest most successful server ever and was a "NA" server.

I do have a question here for you Elmar, as this is supposed to be a "classic" server, don't the NPC's have classic stats as well ? And wouldn't the old L2 alliance system be in effect ? Alls you need is numbers and coordination, we took the first castles here before B grade even existed in game, and it just barely did when Aden first fell on Bartz ( very first Aden capture in all NCwest ), so they could still have that ( though they would need to raise that level base to mid to high 40 + ), the level 76 requirement baffles me is all.

I could see gear being an issue with the drop nerfs in effect on a "classic" server, but we know very well thats where the bots actually come in handy, even if they are an evil.
Draecke once mentioned that the Castle NPC level was 76 back in the day. Fact is that contrary to the announcement in June the Castle Sieges have not been activated. The coding is completed, the developers just have to throw a switch. But players simply don't have the level for that, and not in sufficent numbers. 10 or 20 B-Graders can't take a Castle.
Oh, yeah, I know that, but the old alliance system allowed 12 clans to be allied, when we took them we zerged them. Aden fell to slightly less than 300 players. And we had BDA on the same server, which could muster a thousand man zerg ( they were never the server power but for sheer numbers they were insane ), and that was with just a few players here and there in B grade.

The castles before Aden that fell, top gear out was C grade, seriously. I don't question what Draecke says very often, but I believe the NPCs level was 70.

It did get raised a few times along the way, the biggest time people noticed it was when forts became actually hard to do. :D

The top level even a player could hit when castles started falling was 75, and no one was near that level, we just zerged the suckers in D+C grade. :p

Edit: I just thought of a possible reason not to throw that switch, can you imagine how embarrassing it would be to activate one of L2's biggest selling points and events and not generating enough interest to even knock a hole in a wall or scratch the gates ? :p

Thats probably not why, but it struck me as amusing. :D
If they opened a classic server here it would get people to play it for a few days and quit. Then what you would get is bots and a few players who will try and lvl by hand.

Then you would see crying on forums how the bots are rulling the server and out lvling them. Belive me if you played before GoD like I did since c2 the bots were there then also and same crying on forums back then.
i just say that:
__ its play to pay, no l2store, and koreans have some time card, WAYYYYY BETTER THAN TRULY *HIT.

Yiadao say the same thing:

__ OK, for purposes of clarification, here is the original announcement from Innova.EU:
https://4gameforum.com/showthread.php?t=29186&page=5#98

Please note, there are only subscriptions (plus a free hat) in the Classic Store, nothing else. But this is again a political decision by NCKorea. The Store is set up by the local administrations.

and this f*ag come with this bull*hit:

__ You're a moron and its showing, KR is the only region they employ that method, and they still have a store in game, and its not a true classic server, its updated right up to Ertheia, that means all the drop nerfs and everything on top of that added to old XP rates making it a grind fest of even more epic proportions than even L2 was when it was first released. If you read any of the discussions or what Elmar has posted, their concept for their "classic" server is no one ever making top level or having top gear.

So KR has all the bells and whistles that come with "truly free" and they pay either by the month or minute on top of that over there you twit.

Also, even over there where they love grindfests, the "classic" server is a massive failure, so I really doubt we'll see NC spend the money to open a server over here for it.

please f*ag hold ur *ss i dont wanna *uck u, no one here was talking about drop or whatever is going on ur head, go away loser.

I already told Recka this, I played CB - GoD/quit/kinda back.

Recka ( redman ) played PS's before migrating to official, so of course he assumes P2P would solve everything.

I will say we had a "farmer" infestation ( honest to GoD live players, mostly from China ) before bots though, and we fought them and disliked them at the time, but I bet everyone would prefer to go back to when the bots were rare and the "farmers" were rampant. :p

Rang Rang, this is my room now slant-eye, PK ok ! :D

No little moron, he didn't say the same thing at all, he verified there is indeed a L2 store in the KR version my slow witted friend.

Which also allows them to add things in the future as it goes along, shots, drop runes ( if it isn't already in a prestige pack in their shop, didn't know they included stuff like that in their prestige packs did you oh witless wonder ? ), mounts, pets, but nothing to speed up leveling and unbalance the game. The shop has to exist in the first place before others like Innova can even use that feature you twit, which is what we were discussing before you planted your moronic face into it.

Before someone says shots would speed up the game, yes it would a bit, but NC would be smart and not put them in until the players themselves had established an economy and were making and selling their own in game. Then they would put them in the shop at a price were its cheaper than spending the adena, those crafty, crafty swindlers. :D

HueHueHue, you are not a credit to your country HolyOx, hey, btw, try telling Elmar L2 existed and you were playing it in 2001, he deserves a chuckle, and we've all already had that laugh at your expense. :p

I was only pointing out how they can profit from it as the game goes along, if its successful.

why does he keep censoring gag?
it seems like a perfectly reasonable word to be using from his perspective.
not saying bubsy is wrong, just saying when in an argument gagging over someone else's words is a very mature thing to do.

Up here in America, and in most of the rest of the world its exactly the opposite, but I'll take your word for it on how counting coup is done in a backwards place like where you live, though I think even most Brazilian's count it as we do as well and you're just a "special" case that they lead on so as not to overwhelm that poor half functioning one celled brain of yours. :o

u had a bad/hard time at school everyone can see that. roflmao!
To get back to the facts at hand, like Quitei said before, the Lineage 2 Classic servers in Korea are pay to play, either with a 30 dollars monthly subscription or with game time cards at 1 dollar per hour, with various discounts being offered for bulk purchases and extras thrown in during events. There is nothing else in the Korean Classic Store for sale, neither Buff Juices nor Shots nor Cosmetic Items nor Boss Jewels nor Lucky Enchantment Stones nor anything else.

The official announcement by Innova suggests that they plan on running a similar business model, maybe with fancy hats being sold - "no L2Store items that will affect the speed of your character leveling or the ones containing weapon and armor, even at a certain chance (https://4gameforum.com/showthread.php?t=29186&page=5#98)". Whether those words can be trusted is another matter; apparently Innova has gone back on promises in the past. But that's speculation. According to the current official stance Lineage 2 Classic is in Korea and will be in Europe pay to play, no L2store.

Sadly, my school days are long past, and I'm "officially" retired besides work I do online here and there and some work on computers. Happily I have these moments of joy with which to amuse myself while I merrily surf the web, most of these little gold mines I stumble upon run out after awhile, but you seem to have a boundless amount to pan through, fools gold it may be, but its amusing to look at nonetheless. :p

You're not being quite amusing enough though, you need to go back to being as moronic as you were on HolyOx and PrideOfBrazil, its not as much fun running circles around the simple minded when they refuse to play along and add more fuel to the fire. :o

BTW, I typed that probably in the amount of time it took you to come up with roflmao.

HueHueHue and luck in your travels my friend, GoD looks out for his "special" children and provides many gems to amuse them with which the rest of us view as dross, I could wish for your childlike frame of mind, almost. :o

Yeah, I get that Elmar, but the store does exist, which is all I said. :p

Did you ask Draecke about that NPC level thing btw ? Still don't get why no castle siege switch was flipped.
tyvm yidao ur the best.

In both cases, even there, he says the store does exist, just that in one case they aren't really selling anything out of it, and in the other, they word it as if they won't either, you understand yet ?

The lemonade stand is there, they are just selling water atm.
Let's not muddle matters by drifting into speculation here. Quitei is right - at present, in the here and now, Lineage 2 Classic is pay to play, no L2store. Everything else is personal opinion.

As to the level of the Castle NPCs, I simply don't know. It might as well be 70. The developers did not reveal their level at the press conference, they only said that players are at the moment (June 12) far below the level of those NPCs.

Even if the NPCs were only lvl 60 it wouldn't matter. To say it again, only D-Grade Shots are given out as event rewards. This means only an insignificant percentage of the players has gotten beyond lvl 40 as I am typing this. You would have to form a zerg of Daggers with half-kill skills to make any impression on the Castle NPCs, and since the gates are locked at the beginning, with archers standing on the battlements, those Daggers could not reach them. Lineage 2 Classic is a total failure by the developers' own standards.
Eh, you don't understand what I am saying, I only said the store is there, not what goods if any they are selling out of it. He is saying it doesn't exist at all, empty or not.

On the Innova server if it opens, I take their statement as they will indeed sell items, just not anything that will effect gameplay. Like you said, some fancy hats, probably appearance stones, stuff like that.

As for the sieges, yeah, I said they would have to get to mid to high 40's, and have the gear as well, we had all that when we started taking castles mid 2004.

Aden, B grade had just been introduced and very few had B grade. Aden fell first on Bartz, and was the last castle to fall ( at that time ) on the server. This site may actually interest you Elmar for some of the history http://www.ginnunga.org/content/history/lineage-2-r42

Heck, I would have turned sieges on just to motivate them to level up once they saw how miserably they would have failed, I'm sure they still would have tried. :D

This is what most of people miss about the "Old" Lineage II. Epic drama, battles and diplomacy. I extremely disliked the change during Oath of Blood made to the clan system regarding the number of maximum clan in an alliance. I am much more a fan of a lot of small clans working in an alliance than few big clans. At the end, big clan are not united by a common "spirit" but more by the overall benefits it could profite to small groups of people.

Regarding the topic about Siege and NPC level, there is one thing which should not be forgotten : Lineage II Classic is not a C1 server, but totally an hybrid. As far as I remember there is still a huge accuracy / evasion penalty with high level monsters meaning that you will almost never hit a target which is 10 level higher. The damage reduction / level is also there. I may be wrong (and in this case please correct me :) ) but the damage reduction depending of the level is something which came out around Kamael/Hellbound, not before. In any case, Draecke is quite busy those days so I'm not surprised he doesn't have time to spend on the board :)

Oh hell, if they have the level penalty already there in C1, they stand no chance whatsoever at a siege, thats something I didn't even think about. How can you call something a "classic" server and add in stuff like that that freaking fast ?

Even if the NPC's were only say 61, they would still have to be at least 59 not to get raked over the coals by them. :o

And you are correct, the level penalty came out long before GoD, I was one of the ones saying what a stupid thing to put into game that was before the patch even came on these boards. :p

I'm guessing they also have the total XP nerf when you fight red mobs already as well that they added way later ? Hell we had a lot of fun hunting blood red mobs back then, right until they introduced raids and we saw them and said "they don't look so tough." doink, we dead. :D
i was a big fan of the pseudo boss mobs...
i don't know if you would call them champions or what not...
they had dialogue and usually had minions, but they were not raid boss level strength. you could easily solo them. eventually they were converted into raid bosses.

which level penalty are we talking about by the way?
because there is the damage penalty which is effective at level 76.
i think there is an experience penalty for mobs x numbers of levels above and below... but the most annoying is the 0 xp for dark blue and dark red mobs.

wait... they gonna have seven signs?
because i loved those catacombs.

i think there is an experience penalty for mobs x numbers of levels above and below... but the most annoying is the 0 xp for dark blue and dark red mobs.

wait... they gonna have seven signs?
because i loved those catacombs.

Laby said the damage reduction/ level, which would be you need to be within 2 levels of your target not to get a penalty, and then it would decrease until you are the same level when you would have no penalty. If thats there, they wouldn't have a chance in hell at castles sieges. They are still supposed to roll out the updates in stages, so catas and necros shouldn't be there yet. I remember the mobs you're talking about, they were like orc captains and such, especially that area up near windy hill ? with the old mahum captains.
Let's not muddle matters by drifting into speculation here. Quitei is right - at present, in the here and now, Lineage 2 Classic is pay to play, no L2store. Everything else is personal opinion.

No moron, I said what I meant to say and am right about it. Elmar doesn't get what I am saying, and he also said the store is there, they just aren't using it:

To understand the purpose, take a look at the prices in the Classic L2 Store:
http://nshop.plaync.com/lineage2/goods/list?categoryPath=1_13
1 NCoin is 1 Won.

Please note, there are only subscriptions (plus a free hat) in the Classic Store, nothing else.)

For clarification for you you twit. I said KR is P2P, even the live servers are. I also never said what or if they were selling anything in the store, I only asked Elmar if it was there and did exist you twit. Do you understand yet ? I can't dumb it down any further, so if not you are sadly on your own and free to live in your world of make believe.

If you scroll back, I'm the one that asked Elmar if they had a store at all because I wasn't sure you twit. Perhaps this eluded you.

Anyways, done trolling you, so you are free to think of your next reply in order to get in the last word as a "win" to comfort yourself, this thread has become more interesting with the other stuff than it has been while making you cry. :D

Edit: I hold the right in forbearance to continue making you cry if this thread's discussion once again dies down and of course in all future matters. :D

really? dont u know when u should stop? roflmao!
really? dont u know when u should stop? roflmao!
it takes a big man to stop.
but yet you continue on also, maybe you should quit knowing you've won instead of continuing until you are beaten.

not exactly i was here in c1 or2 some gludin harbor loading screen or login screen all i remember till c5 i quit in interlude cus didnt like it
went to private came back in freya or h5 and now im not loggin anymore either

all i want is good old c5 times back :P private retail f2p p2p i dont care ! c5 was best stuff ever

i know there was bots, but it wasnt half as bad as its nowadays and im mainly talking about pvp though auto cp spam etc i can deal with fully automated pvp meh no thanks :p
pve bots was tons of them also but it wasnt like it was nowadays, nowadays every1 owns a darn bot train somewhere which is "Fair" in a way but rly ******ed in a other way.

im just saying will you run a 7 man bot train or more with chance to get hammered any given time, while u have to pay 7x 15? euro or w/e price was for timecards seeing that u have to lvl them up first before u actually start making profit

if u dont get let say 105 euro a month out of these 7 man(even tho it was 9 back then) u dont make any profit if u lose a critical toon u lose all remaining days unless u had back up toon which would have cost u some timecards also to lvl it.
what im trying to say those casual botters u see everywhere on ncwest will not bother anymore!
wait... they gonna have seven signs?

The Catacombs are already there; in the first weeks players got ported in by bug when they tried to swim from Talking Island to the mainland. But the developers can only activate the Seven Signs Competition (Dusk vs. Dawn) when there are player Castle Lords :)

Every single thing they are adding in so early really makes this "classic" server far from classic. I thought they were going to add the added content in updates as they did before, and maybe ( wild idea ) even fix some past issues they never did before ?
catacombs have been around for a long time.
since what? C3? some time before fishing.

chronicle 5!

i dont think u can see it as a chronicle 1 2 3 4 5 interlude kamael balab server

i guess they just added more "stuff" in 1 chronicle so u might aswell get all crap from c1 to 3 and half year later c4 to interlude in 1 patch etc i dunno but i doubt they will use just c1 then c2 etc

Catacombs and Necropolis were a big part of third chronicle : Rise of Darkness. As far as Classic server are concerned, the catacombs are physically there (they didn't removed them from the map) but you can't enter them (i.e. they are in a closed state, a bit like now).

For the curious people, a small chronological map :

C1 : Harbingers of War : Aden territory has been added
C2 : Age of Splendor : Baium, Innadril territory, Striders
C3 : Rise of Darkness : Catacombs, Necropolis & Seven signs. New interface also
C4 : Age of Splendor : Valakas, Goddard and Rune territories, subclass system, fishing system, hero system, mini pet systems.
C5 : Oath of Blood : Zariche system, Schuttgart Territory. New clan system; Pagan iirc
Interlude : Primeval Island, Lvl 80 skills with spell / battle force :D

As far as I remember, and I may be **** wrong, but the current classic server doesn't have any Aden territory. Prelude it is :D

You nailed it, C3. Still they were already skipping Prelude, now they have stuff in there from C3 and some other stuff that's way beyond ?

It just doesn't sound very "classic".

Read my post above. The catacombs are there, but not activated. Just like fortress were visible during Interlude on the map (remember those grey symbols (http://i.imgur.com/Q6fJABH.jpg)) but not activated :D

I dont miss pre god yes it was fun playing in a siege with 500+ CC in aden but that was in the past.
Am I the only one here who actually liked GoD?

It was the first time I could actually play without 3-4 boxes and could get gear etc from grinding at a decent pace without needing to spend 24/7 in game. Parties actually made sense too, before that the best XP was solo AOE with OOP buffers.

I only played from C3+, but back then bots were worse than ever since farmers went for the money and it seemed the majority of players turned to it to keep up with the grind/gear. (same as what's happening now it seems).

Having said that I'd love to roll back to C5 so I can be a usefull Dominator again. :P
i don' know, i really liked being an 83+ Dominator.
olympiad was fun even with my horrendous gear.
onslaught was just such a great skill.
and when your hp was low just get it all back in one or two steal essences.

i never boxed an account before goddess of destruction.
but after, i felt that i needed to :(
it may or may not have been the whole free to play shift though.

"Freemium" is a really hard feature to implement without destroying a game, by adding in the "Pay to win" stuff it's clearly made more short term cash, but killed the game long term by making a bigger gap between players in a PvP game, making normal potential paying customers quit as they can't afford £1000s to keep in the game.

Dominator was great in the hay day, but before 83 (and before dominator) it could be a nightmare. I remember being unable to party since I wasn't a strong pve class and having to solo a lot with 3 OOP buffers and greater haste pots for something like 0.3%/hr at level 73.

I worked out that at my max XP, OOP BD/SWS/SE + pots it'd take me 3 months of 24/7 grind to hit 80 from level 79, unless someone gimped their AOE pty to include me.

Also whilst olympiad was great as OL, there were many many classes that just purely sucked. Many classes ignored in PvE and PvP too since everything was a lot more imbalanced than GoD.

There were some awesome ways of levelling though, I must admit. I know what toons I'd make on a new "Classic" server (if it included up to interlude). :D

I don't know why they can't just do 200% XP, 200% drops, 200% sp, 200% adena for £12 a month without any items that affect ingame progress, like enchants etc. It would make a lot more steady, long term income as more people would pvp = more players = more income.
i wonder about Dominator in the classic server actually.
i mean Overlord buffs didn't work on party members until some time mid Gracia... maybe even as late as freya.

before goddess i would often pole in catacombs using my favored cougar buff pet although bufflo might have been a better choice, i really loved that cougar for the empower.

had to make adena some way or another, and those seal stones were pure cash flow.

IT all depends, there were a TON of changes:

OL initially didn't have
Haste
Focus
Death Whisper
Empower

And a few others. You basically just had the base shield/might etc.
I really dont understand why ppl want to play older versions of the game :)

I mean...you allready know what skills at what lvl you will get, you allready know very well farm zones, game mechanics, tips, etc

Beside all of that..you need to spend a lot of time grinding (really? grind again??) to lvl up w/o any help from l2store or ingame npc shops. I will not mention adena reduction :)

My guess is you want to play old school server for your good memories, to remember those days when you were young and hanging around Giran with your friends....

Well, like all said...its not a real C1 server...and probably you will be dispointed coz you will not find the same feeling that you miss so much :)
death whisper was a 78 skill along with empower?
i don't remember when it was added, but i do remember when they added the combos and modified the 78 skills to be better.

pretty much.
also the pvp was more interesting.
less omg wtf just happened how did i just die... moments.
although dark elves with might mortal crystal daggers... scary.
IIRC one of the main turning points was when elements and increased level difference were implemented.

When the cap was 75 a level 6x could fight a level 7x without masses of difference. The classes weren't balanced of course, there were only a few "Uber" pvp toons, but levels weren't that harsh.

When they introduced lvl 85 (i think) they added a stronger level difference debuff/accuracy penalty, so from then on it was just a bum rush to the top or face sucking forever. Even just 3rd class skills and armor made a huge imbalance for the top levels.

Not mentioning people with 150/300 weapons vs anyone (most people) without resists.....
true enough.
before element, a grade armor was viable and in fact preferred over s grade for pvp. Majestic armor stun resist was huge.
but all of this is getting a little far ahead considering classic server is currently set to b grade max.

You have a perfect valid point. A simple solution would be to allow attributes to be added to any armor and weapon w/e the grade. It's also a great way to burn the influx of Attribute stones :D

@Pleistoros : The grind is, in one way, what I miss. Some of my best memories are during grind sessions, talking and having fun with friends, wiping because we were not careful enough and the FoG train was too big, or simply chilling. Sure being high level is great but I don't believe you have to be max level with max stuff to have fun :)
Laby the grind is still possible but NC Korea need to stop making instances that provide more xp/sp then the actual open world/pvp areas like HB..

DW is boring as hell and is discriminating some classes as they don't rate "efficient" enough for pve farm, add in the max party size of 4 yeah just depressing.. really don't get it why they made it give 2x the amount SP then HB..

yeah but to be fair cast your mind back to c3 where 7 out 10 threads were about people being unable to exp cause xyz clan ruled Lair and TOI and just pked everybody that went there. Don't get me wrong, for me those were fun times, but ... you gotta understand that people were demanding more "gang safe" exp zones, that why we got them.

Yea 79 to 80 was terrible back in the day. I wanted to scratch my eyeballs out during that level.

What? Didn't have a DoD pole party? :p
i would prefer Interlude,or c5,most privats are interlude and there a many of em with 1-3k+ players
I remember this Storm Screamer in Varuna (my clan back then on Lionna) doing 1% a day at 79, xping solo at Ketra. That was some **** dedication

This is just so untrue. The problem with F2P is when a company lets its greed in the short term blind them to the long term consequences. If they employ a healthy model and stick with it they enjoy long term gains. NC is one of those companies that let short term greed blind them to the rapid decline they cause.

Big problem here is most companies are just as blind and would rather get one windfall rather than have long term steady success and growth, its just baffling to me how the majority let greed blind them.

Two people have one year to live, they are both given a years supply of cupcakes. The greedy one says fawk it I only have a year to live and dies in a week from overeating, over 3/4 of the cupcakes are still around though.

The other one says I have a year to live, lets take it steady and enjoy the time I have left, he dies a year later, all his cupcakes gone, and he even got to eat some of the greedy ones left overs.

Now who was the smart one ? For some reason companies with supposedly smart people running them are blind to this.

What server did you play on ? To my mind, anyone that cried about DvC or ToI never could have handled XPing there anyways. The only effective lockdown I ever remember was when UR periodically did it with IT ( and I guess FoG as well, though I never saw that occur ) and surprise, that was more to promote PvP than anything else. Unless you were in one particular clan ( they know who they are :D ) if you just grew enough balls to actually show up and challenge UR on it, most of the time after they cleaned the floor with you they'd even rez you, and surprise, let you go on your way and XP there ( I'm sure there were a few individuals they disliked besides that one clan that were also locked out ), this just wasn't common knowledge, as most never grew enough balls to even show up to find out. :o
I don't want to be an *** but why would anyone pay 2 play with bots? Nobody remembers the era before f2p? I hope that if they will make a classic server, they will implement a proper anti bot solution but we all know that this has 0.01% chance of happening.

There is 0.0% of that happening because using any form of program that monitors a person's action is against the law in the USA. The only one who can do such things are the Federal Bureau of Investigation/US Government, and only if they attain permission from a US Federal Court.

Aside from that I highly doubt you will ever see a Classic server appear on NCWest, mostly because they cannot handle what they have now. Also if people think that just because it would be pay to play it will stop bots then you are deluded, they will swarm the server because adena will be almost impossible to get with 1/6th original C1 rates.

Actually no, that's not true. You can't drop rootkits on them and monitor what they are doing on their computer, but you are free to monitor what they are doing when they are using your resources (game server). If what you said was true google would have shut down.

And you don't really need rootkits. Korea bans on museum stats. Over here, for the brief period of time the Museum was visible to us regular players, the number 1 character on Naia in hours spent in combat had spent 612 hours in combat in a month. Let me try and simplify that for you. One character, in a month, had spent almost 25 whole 24hr days in combat (ie exping not idling in Aden). Surprisingly the owner of that character didn't die of exhaustion. And equally surprisingly that character is still in game.
... And you don't really need rootkits. Korea bans on museum stats.

Exactly. A certain problem with this method is that people must first commit the crime, they must first clock up a certain number of hours, before they can be punished. This is the reason why you still see plenty of bot screenshots on the Classic forum even though NCKorea is banning thousands of bots per week (http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=267985#4):

A better solution in a pay-to-play environment would be to have a waiting period of one month between payment and the account becoming playable. Since those bot accounts are all created with stolen/forged credit card information and the payment never really arrives in NCsoft's coffers, this would be a good method to prevent bots from ever getting onto the server. But since this would also filter out the ADHD kids and mean a reduced revenue, the terminal bot solution won't happen :D

I think our problem, and this is nothing but my personal conspiracy theory, is that NCNA at some point realized the vast majority of their client base was boting, and when I say vast I mean 90%, so simple commercial logic took over. When 90% of my customers like my product to be red and 10% like it to be blue do I paint my product blue to make the 10% happy or paint it red to keep the 90% happy.
I am afraid that you are right. NCWest and NCKorea are part of the same company, the algorithm that NCsoft Chief Mathematician Lee Eun-jo has developed for analyzing the server data would work for our version as well as for theirs. NCWest does not ban bots because they don't want to.

Of course the Korean solution is not perfect - when you look at the dates on the kill list (http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=267985#4) you can see that they usually give it a week before they ban a batch. But after that one week the character you have given as an example above would have been banned, instead of still getting on everybody's nerves after all that time.

Ah well, money rulez :)

The problem with that analogy is it used to be the other way around, 90% of the player base wanted it red, 10% wanted it blue and they were still painting it blue back then as well. So over time a vast majority that wanted it red wound up quitting until it got to the point that your analogy actually fits. :p

They were just greedy, plain and simple and it ruined things.
I seriously tried to follow the discussion , but after 3 pages my brain flopped...so how is this classic server going in korea? and what's the "regular" korean server status? i couldn't understand it (but i just saw a "lv 100" under the oly stats...they already have it? O.o)

Anyway...i guess having a classic server here will be a total flop...yeah , lot of players may come back , yeah , ncsoft may get some extra $ for the pay-2-play...but we will have probably an epic bot-invasion and the server will be filled with the bots only...and our ncwest do not ban bots at all...if the bot pay it got unbanned instead...there are players able to waste 300-400 euros per month in game...i heard of people who almost spent 100k euros in game...and you think they wont spend 200 euros per month for make a bot group? mhh..

When you click on the link (that's the official NCKorea website, it's safe) and then click on the original picture, you can enlarge it.

These screenshots were taken on the "Talking Island" server last Saturday evening, i.e. at peak time. But apart from the Chinese bot gang you can only see 8 real players in Talking Island Village, one of them in shop mode. This is not enough to form a full 9 person party, which is necessary to hunt without Shots, a commodity nobody can afford due to the 1/6 drop rate.

As you can read in the second link above, the Talking Island server is the very first Classic Server that was opened. Everybody made their characters there, and technically it is still hopelessly overcrowded. The crowd consists almost exclusively of bots though. Due to the impossibility to form a party, Lineage 2 Classic is de facto unplayable :)

As to the regular servers, there is one active server left, with lots of raids and PvP. On that server several players have already reached lvl 102:
http://lineage2.plaync.com/gameinfo/olympiad/lastOlympiadInfo?serverId=48
(the square table in the lower left corner)

On the other servers there are much less players, mostly still at 100. The problem is that in one of the quests for the new high-grade Nobility you must participate in the slaying of Earthworm Trasken. For example on Kain, Trasken does not get killed:

So if you are on Kain, you don't get noble. This is a faulty game design and has led to a lot of discontentment among the Korean players, to the degree that the developers have removed the feedback forum from their Letters to the Community (http://lineage2.plaync.com/board/letters/view?articleId=582898) to avoid the flaming from getting out of hand :D
PS I believe they are opening a fourth Classic server in Korea, not really sure how you in your infinite wisdom decided it's a massive failure

Apart from that, even though the Classic and Live development teams have been reunited (http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=1265&start=390#p27730)

As I said, and as Elmar said it was deemed a failure and this could be tracked by the player base level. Also said only time will tell if opening new servers would help at all. With no one left developing the classic servers, I think you can concede this point that its a failure now.
apparently Innova is launching a Russian Classic server ... don't speak Russian so can't personally confirm but was told by a clannie that subscription will be the equivalent of 8 bucks per month and the ingame store will only sell hats and stuff, no supplies/enchants/items blah blah.

Yeah, and as Elmar said it will work there, but one thing I do question, is how well is it going to work in the future with NC no longer working on it ? NC would have to let Innova have some kind of creative control just to work out glitches as they arise re implementing the old content on top of the Ertheia client. I'm guessing some of the stuff is just flipping it on, so they can get away on cruise control for awhile, but I see a problem looming in the future.

That's right. The subscription fee is 300 Ruble. And it has a 1/6 drop rate, like in Korea:

Apparently there is quite some enthusiasm in Russia at the moment, but it remains to be seen how things work out in the long run. As long as they don't have any events that mess up the code, they should be fine for some time, but what with the greatly reduced staff, bug fixes might require patience. No new developers have been hired, they just reunited the old team, so at the moment they have 26 people, who are struggling to get Infinite Odyssey on track. Check the bugs in that update:

Many had doubts about the future of L2 Classic outside Korea but after it's arrive to the Russian market we have seen it's even a bigger sucess than expected for both the players and the company running it. Quite some non-Russians are playing there at the moment while most are just waiting for some EU/NA server to be announced.

The last information I remember was some screenshot where NcWest staff actually said it was a possibility in the close future to open a Classic server here. Are there any news on this regard ?
what id give for a classic server with normal drop rates and a subscription fee.

Is that a 1/6 drop rate compared to the rates we have now? The rates in C1? The rates in C4?
It's 1/6 of the rates on the offical NCNA servers back in C1/C4. A monster that used to drop 600 adena in the early Chronicles drops only 100 adena in Lineage 2 Classic.
I'd come back and play on a NCWest Classic server. No questions asked. And I'm sure I could wrangle some others into giving it a try.

But, I'd be out as soon as botting became prevelant. That's what ruined this game.

Until then, have a nice life L2.

+1.

Please give us an L2 classic server, without a shop, without scripts/bots and with a monthly fee. Me personally can guarantee 15+ friends that would pay that 15$ a month to play the old L2.
I'd really prefer NCSoft west opens one but I'll give the euro one a go until they decide to open one.
I would play if NCWest launched a classic server, EU is too laggy for me :( if they brought back a P2P classic server I would fall in love all over again with this game
Two days ago, 3 Korean L2Classic servers were merged as Elmar stated before:

Server merge incoming on L2Classic Korea, according to Elmar, Giran + Elf + Dark Elf servers will become one server on April 22:

http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?p=30965#p30965

Besides that, there will be an upcoming merge of 3 servers on L2Classic RU,:

Shillien + Maphr + Eva = Shillien

http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?p=31219#p31219

I checked their population on l2on.net and they together have around 2.8K players at maximum, GK server for example has a max of 3K players on the most bustling moments.
i was under the impression that their classic servers were still using a lot of what exists now rather than truly classic game versions.

Yes, they do not use original clients and inherit a lot of features from modern l2. Just the game map, spawn locations, quests, etc. are more or less similar to those in previous versions. Also, KR has pre-scehduled classic server upgrades, that means you will be forced to move on to the next chronicle similarly to how it was back in prelude->c1->c2->c3, etc.

Try the Korean version. If you actually played one of the earlier chronicles you will definitely be disappointed, and that is no understatement.
I think Koreans had same thread. And what hapened. The opened L2 Classic and 90 percent of players were Chinese bots. After server merges and one of the directors was fired. Russians had same thread too. And what hapened. 90 percent of players are bots, game fully depends from L2 Shop, more server merges. Ok now lets cry here for L2 Classic server. And yes NC open this server for that people so all bots from Chronos an Naia go there.

L2 has had bots since I started playing in 2005 when c2 came out. if they open L2 Classic here the same will happen because its a grind game and that makes it easy to bot.

It's easy because they exist, some1 create them, and there is no antibot system on this game.
