there is also the social aspect, if your clan leaves for another game or server leaving you alone. sure, you can make new friends, but new friends are not the same as people you've raided with for years.
some people also leave after doing something like destroying a valued piece of equipment. say you enchant a +15 R99 Blessed weapon and it blows up.
(bad example because if you're doing that you probably have a spare)

I knew that factor but i want to measure for those issue. the factor of leaving game by real life obligations will be different and can not be compared with them, it must be divided more specific into: technical, psychologically, and so on ^^ i just want to know the bounce rate of leaving. I dont see reason to leave Lineage2, those bots,rmt,scripts in pvp... dont bother me.I Just ignore them and i like to kill scripters in pvp :D even when i'm using gear 2 grades below my level :p
Instead of complaining you can just find a good clan,play with some people or find constantly party. There is so many ways in this game to have fun,so find your way!
I wouldn't say bot and rmt, only because as long as we've played it's been there. Just more of a bigger deal now that the game's free. I work around em either way.
I wouldn't say other game, because people have played other games on and off or during as long as games have existed. If one game is the only game you play and you can't sleep or rest because you're thinking of it, that's a different issue altogether.
So I choose boredom. Not so much because of the devs, because if we don't like a game or the way it's made or ran, we have the freedom to play something else. I get bored because once you have everything (or enough), there's little to work for other than socializing. Sometimes I log in just to chat with people for a bit....get bored because I don't feel like doing things, then log to do more productive things.

After nearly 11yrs of playing and shopping in giran 90% of the time (on Seighart originally and then on Chronos), (i love shopping in giran/aden because i have fun buying and selling items on the Lineage 2 market and OEing gear to the max and playing the risk game like gambling), i am probably going to be quitting this game mainly because of what happened to me yesterday with customer support/GM's.
I get dced by a GM on 2 of my 3 clients i had opened. I log back onto the 2 of my account and see my gear and stuff okay, but all my 1b+ adena and nearly 200 dyes i had farmed/bought with adena for the past 6 months-2year all vanished and gear moved around, (not sure if anything else was taken away). Paid over 8b for all of them since lv85+ dyes came out.
I had event dyes from the pumpkin events, dyes from the draco events and dyes that i bought with my shops/asking in giran WTB Lv.5 Leg Dex or Con dyes, etc.
I was going to be using these dyes for my 3 clients i run to play Lineage 2 when i hit 85+ on my alts/subs/dual classes.
The GM responded saying that i had too many dyes and that i had purchased them through some coin event, of which i have no idea of.
(If the GM actually took the time to try to find out more about them, he would have seen that i had purchased, or won them around 1/3-1/2 of them over 6months ago....)
Were there any event recently for dyes? b/c i had tons of dyes from the pumpkin event that i spent like $100 to have some fun breaking large pumpkin seeds and surprisingly got quite a few dyes from the event.
GM's doing what they please like that to the casual players imho sux. Just because i dont spent $100+ a week like some players do, (maybe $25-50 a month) doesn't mean that they should just go deleting items or adena w/o prior warning, just because they see someone with a lot of something...

What about leaving because the mobs drop too little adena and no mats or pieces of equipment? Or because there is way too much of a difference between low level 90 and high level 90, too much of a difference between rich and poor players. Too much imbalance in every part of the game. Too much pointless, empty grind.
Also not tradeable, I just make an army of low levels just to get enchant weapons A and trade to the character that have mentee coins just to get a little more chance to enchant with stones. Now all my work goes to hell because they nerfed the quest because of bots.
Sames goes for spoil, when I have some of them of various lvls just to get different spoils they nerfed all map spoil because of bots.
what will be next?
I have play tons of games and all with different aproach to antibot systems, but this is madness, they kill the game becase of bots, when the game was already killed by them. So instead of making a real anti-bot system they nerfed all game just killing it.
just think how much bigger the number would be for Bot and RMT if this thread was a sticky made back in 2004 when most people left due to bots.

this whole game is automated from lvl 0 to 99, auto xp it up to be able to auto PvP
Reason for leaving l2 would be bored (my friends leaved also,full items,nothing to buy more,etc etc) or one reason that will make me leave this game in year or two,is called Real Life ,such is jobs,college,get married etc :D

If god killed it why the game is still running? It's just your mindset that does not want to change. I'm here because I enjoy reading forum, and from time to time I post my comments here. If you think I don't like your answer then you're wrong because I'm not looking for an answer in this thread. Just stating my opinion.
It's fun watching other players becoming the punch drunk jokes of the game and developers. I don't have to suffer from server outages, power drunk players, bad and lame trash talk over chat lines, and lags whenever I get too close to a huge botting area. I get to watch, via forums and from the comfort of my nice comfy chair, people whine about it. In fact, we haven't left L2, we just wised up and evolved to a higher form of spectatorship.

I haven't played since November really. I've lost all interest. I'm sick of same old daily and instances. Solo areas do not exist. I'm bored and I'm not interested in pumping money to a game that's letting people freely cheat.

I rolled a new char, and in Gludio, the chat window literally pulsates between white and orange text, advertising adena buying websites. "Cheap Adena here, go to xxx.com, cheap and fast delivery. 200M for $10, and get an extra bonus!" You go to places, and it is literally infested with bots.
Either they need better software to block bot clients, issue IP bans to places like China and South Korea, or perhaps add "Special" mobs to the game that spawn, and if attacked, will explode and one shot the attacking player. Any regular player will know to avoid them. Then add some tracking system so if you get killed x amount of times by said bot busters, you get flagged for investigation.
The bots flood the game with excess adena, making the prices for things more expensive, making it difficult for a legit player. It is like the US economy, the more dollars the US prints out, the more inflated things become, as a single dollar loses value.

I really have never used bots or other thinks which I can't use.That is very important character for me, because it is warsmith and I put in his warehause all recipes and materials which I have had from the last few months when I have played here. So I have lost really a lot adena. Please help me with that. I have not a lot of time to play, and It is very long time to make new warsmith. That is what NCSOFT has answered for my husband about ban.
But.... I know too that he has never used any software, because we was played on the same computer, everytime upgrade client from launcher and even turn of antivirus and skype, because they make a lag in L2.He just tryed to connect after last upgrade on wednesday and has had Game Guard error.But after restarted computer it is fixed.Then at the evening....ban.
So, I was played here because I was feeling that my accounts is safety.... but now I am not shure about that. May be tommorow they will banned my account? Sure it's possible to make bank in game without the store, it's just harder if you can't get into the right raids or parties. I don't want to exclude either avenue, cause there are people managing to do it.

one of the only games i really really loved for recreating that perfect Gothic 2 atmosphere yet now everything is going to hell!!!
everything in elven village is now closed, every race is now ruined and you can't even visit your own town belonging to your own race anymore and feel like home! there is a ghost town in the place you saw lots of things happening years and years ago and everything is closed down!
now , on top of that this whole adena nerf is basically forcing you to fall for one of those 200mil adena for 4-5 dolar adds so you can lose your account and game access completely! it seems to me that there aren't any real improvements since Gracia and everything is going downhill!! I wouldn't give a **** but this is the OFFICIAL game, not some strange private server the real deal!!! so why on earth are the developers smashing this work of art with so much **** and destroying the whole beauty it had in the past!?! the whole feeling it used to have is now gone and it seems to me that they're trying to destroy it even further! this kinda makes me want to give up again even though i came back after a very long break only to find a HUGE list of disappointments left in this "game" . does anyone even care at all??

I quit playing the game when it stopped being effectively "free to play". What I couldn't stomach is the fact that adena drops become much less (and you had to buy items to make them bareable), crafting went to hell and the game from Pay to Win became Pay to Play. I never expected to be top dog without paying serious money, but I expected to be at least able to play descently and have fun. After Lindvior update (If I remember well) that was no longer possible. BOT's and RMT existed early in the game (although I admit it became much worst in the recent years) but I could live with them.

I never said anything about where the adena came from, you brought that whole topic up yourself. If I sell something I have no idea where the buyer got their adena or who they traded with before me. I don't know what you're raging about honestly. How would I know that thing I just bought in the AH was obtained by a bot or not?
I haven't played since December and you know what I did when I needed adena? Raids and events. I'd use MY own real money in the game store and purchase event items, take a gamble and sell the items. Did I make adena? Absolutely. Did I spend a lot? No maybe $30-$40 max depending on the prices in the store. The last event I participated in was the carrot one.
Basically you're saying I shouldn't sell or buy anything from players because everyone is a bot and buys adena from 3rd parties and it's all my fault.

They actually manage the bot problem there, here it's so bad and it's like you said it's screwing up the economy of the game. In an effort to discourage bots they nerfed adena drops and rewards so yea it's harder for someone to make profits.
And then you toss in the store, people get so fed up trying to get something they buy something that boosts their chances,tries or something to make adena so they can buy it outright. I agree if you strictly PVE then sure not really a big deal. big clans probably not a issue for them really.

Game politics have changed. Just look at Far Cry 4, they sold the game for 60$ and it was an unfinished game, not talking about DLC's. Same with BF4, the PC version was a disaster and people payed 120$ for the complete package.

i was gone because of hospital and when i came back i migrated my account. a few weeks later i had to switch ISP and was forced to change email but it didnt let me because apparently migration counts as email change and got a 6 months cooldown. then when i was able to change the email they kept on requesting email from the old account and i got so mad that i left L2 and said to return the day they ever get the issues fixed...
time it took customer service to get it all sorted out and fixed?

PS: TYVM GM Lloyd NCSOFT Account Administration for taking care of it and fixing what like 10 others wherent able to do!

There's far more to it than mentioned. Most of all it's the attitude of the company behind it, that has finally driven me, after many years to not ever touch anything that is anyhow associated with NC Soft.

Break my weapon, get mad, leave. Say i'll never play this piece of **** game with ****ty engine, full of bots and cheaters.
Few months later, I'm back, wondering why I ever wasted my time on some hand-holding shallow wow clone, with an action spin to it, made for mass appeal, that can't hold a candle to L2, instead of figuring out a way to get a new weapon, and progress in the best mmo to date.
Same story for almost 10 years.

I kind of got sick of games anyhow associated with NCSOFT, so I made myself a promise not to touch any of those.
If you have a closer look whatever they touched became the same. Same company = same politics.
I won't believe they (NC) actually never (as some claim) noticed this (http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=272915). Makes me sad they let it happen, and that it was going on for so long and still is.
