Reminder: NCWest could increase quarterly revenue by 2.395% by opening a Classic server

Just wanted to reiterate what is now becoming more and more a common sense decision.

NCWest is looking at a 1.489% to 2.395% increase in Quarterly revenue just by opening up a classic server. Based on the NCSoft Quarterly Earnerings as well as a financial analysis of a North American project.

Financial Analysis: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nxuSEDzmMdxX8lDxz3X6gE8BZNYSC560aknO0ellFQE/edit?usp=drivesdk

At some point soon, NCWest will wise up and realize a company their size needs to keep growing in order to keep investors happy. With the failure of MxM, seeking other growth streams seems like the next logical step in recovery.

It's our job as their customers to demand these products and to let them know the "feasibility" of such a project. ;)
For comparison:
NCsoft, the mother company, increased their quarterly revenue through the launch of Lineage M by 181% (one hundred eighty one percent) quarter-over-quarter and 234% year-over year. The net profit increased by 792% (seven hundred ninety two percent) quarter-over-quarter and 474% year-over-year:

An increase of 2.4% (two point four percent) per fiscal quarter won't even be noticed among the natural fluctuations caused by more or less successful promotions.
op is funny.

at least he made me smile. im going to bed happy ^^
Lineage M launch was a real game changer for NCsoft. A 2% increase in revenue means nothing.

Oh, I agree with you both completely. NCSoft is no longer a PC Game company, they are a Mobile App company. When they saw the profits they got from Lineage M... Aion Tempest, Lineage 2 M, Blade and Soul Mobile all started to get planned.

3 out of their next 4 AAA MMO projects are for mobile devices. It's a sad reality we face as PC Gamers, that the PC MMO market is being replaced by the Moblie MMO Market.

That said, we can still hope that NCWest publishes one last PC MMO before switching over to being a Mobile company. It is a long shot, but hopefully Juji can realize that there is awareness for Lineage as a brand in the west, and there is demand for Lineage 2 Classic in the west.

why man? why??? how can u be so stupid???

they were a pc inc, not a mobile, THATS MEANS= MOBILE IS NEW FREE MARKET. when u release one game on a new market where u have 0 of market share, u get numbers like 100% or 200%.....

cmon u guyz, u looking pretty bad, i cant believe u are all that dumb, only Elmar knows stuff?

Mobile MMOs are not a new market in Korea. They are new in North America, but HanGame, NetMarble, and several other massive publishers have been in the Mobile gaming market for a while now. Lineage M is just NCSoft's first mainstream mobile game.

Also, lets look at the other facts. 3 teams of AAA developers at NCSoft are now working on a Mobile MMO. Only 1 team is publicly working on a AAA PC MMO. When 3/4 of a company are working in the mobile segment, it's clear NCSoft is pivoting away from PC MMOs and toward Mobile MMOs.

However, like I said before, we can hold out hope that Juji (and NCWest) sees a good oppurtunity right now to expand NCWest PC MMO offering by adding Lineage 2 Classic. It would be profitable, but it may not be the most profitable action for NCWest to take.

thx for point out again that u are that stupid.

let me write this again, read with atention this time.

to a company that have 0 market share of a NEW MARKET, anything they put on this new market ll generate a 100% figure, SINCE THEY HAVE 0% of it from the start.

do u understand now? or u want me to draw to u?
That's not how market share works...

That's now how any of that works....

For players not familiar with the issue at hand:

The Excel table Gabe linked at the beginning of this thread is just well formatted nonsense with about as much relation to reality as the drug-induced posts of Phoenix01a:
http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=293829#2

As has been repeatedly explained by various people, like for example in [this thread (http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=294412#11)] only a few days ago, NCWest Holdings is a fully owned subsidiary of NCsoft Corp. (in layman's terms: a branch office). They don't pay license fees. What they do is move money around between Aliso Viejo, San Mateo and Seoul as the situation requires, sometimes more, sometimes less. As you can see from the overwhelming head count of our beloved Lineage 2 Department (Neutron and half a Hime), at the moment basically all the money is drained out of Orange County to finance the various mobile projects, both at the headquarter (https://recruit.ncsoft.net/korean/careers/adoptionsection.aspx) and in Silicon Valley (http://us.ncsoft.com/en/about-us/#ncsoft_west_unveils_iron_tiger_studios). There are far more than 3 teams of AAA developers at NCSoft working on Mobile MMOs.

Equally nonsensical is the assumption that there would be a monthly subscription fee. Let me quote again what Juji wrote in February:

The last 5 1/2 years working on Lineage II have been truly an amazing and life-changing experience. It was a thrill to prepare the transition to Truly-Free and launch 10 content expansions with you. I was also extremely proud to watch L2 grow from the brink in 2011 to a now thriving and stable community in 2017.

In other words, Juji has seen that a monthly subscription system inevitably leads to the shut-down of a game, at least as far as NCsoft games are concerned (this is what almost happened in 2011 (http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=407#p6002)), and the introduction of a free-to-play/pay-to-win system, technically known as "Freemium Model (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freemium)", leads to a thriving and stable revenue. If there should ever be a Lineage 2 Classic at NCWest, it will be L2Store-based and players will be mercilessly milked until their last drop of blood has run dry.

Never forget, Juji is not your friend! He is getting paid to extract a maximum amount of money from the playerbase, by whatever means he can legally get away with. As long as everybody is aware of this, we are all happy.

And now let's all leave him alone and let him do his job. He has all the necessary data at his disposal and doesn't need any help from uninformed hobby economists.

It's a Basic (skipped Tax Avoidance synergies from depreciation, and a few other enhancements) DCF financial model. Any business analysis whose even done 6 months of work has probably seen something similar.

Maybe you need to refresh the page, that line item has been zeroed out since it was brought up a few days ago. I just checked and it's still 0.

You forget that the MMO community is more changing. F2P MMOs were all the rage back then and hard to compete with. Nowadays, we're seeing a return to subscription MMOs. Archeage for example is considering opening a subscription model + comestic/xp boost only cash shop. I don't see how that couldn't work for L2classic. In fact I'm crafting a small white paper for these forums and Juji called "Localization through Monetization"

Also, not a hobbyist. Financial analysis is a core part of my field although I wouldn't quite label myself an economist. I work at a very well respected financial institution with some of the US' top economic and financial minds. Companies the size of NCSoft often struggle to reach our investment minimums (200,000,000USD to 500,000,000USD)
I sure hope that you don't work in any position of responsibility at that institution. If you had only a high school knowledge of mathematics you would know what significant figures and false precision are. NCWest could not increase quarterly revenue by 2.395% but by 2.4% ;)
