Hi Hime, it may be smart to update gameguard in order to block the use of certain 3rd party programs. I know that this programs are essential and popular for many users but this programs are killing the game and push people who don't want to cheat to quit the game.thx

Don't be dafty, these are 100% compatible with Gameguard or without it....
Imo make the server to check for hooks and keystroke simulation, direct packet manipulation and encrypt your **** packets already with something harder to decode.
Staff answers on this at highly unlikely or will be vague.
Friends of mine running Beta version of Windows 10 can't run the game because game guard blocks it.
Could fast become an issue since many will upgrade at the release, and the release is less then a month from now.

Thank you all for your replies. I should have also asked for which Windows OS you're using when you notice the incompatibility with GameGuard. If you can add your OS version that would be great. :D

Compatibility with Windows 10 is being worked on. :o

I have a feeling GameGuard is incompatible with itself. Almost every time when I launch the game I get either Error 1014 ("problem running GameGuard") or Error 1011 ("A hacking tool has been discovered. Please try playing again after closing unnecessary programs.")
The thing is there is nothing to close, since I have only the standard list of WindowsXP (SP3) services running when I attempt to start Lineage 2. Everything else is disabled, including antivirus and firewall.
So, I just try it again and it always works from the 2nd attempt. Then I launch the 2nd and sometimes the 3rd client, all work fine.
I find these false alerts very annoying, as I lose a few minutes every time they happen.
It's quite obvious there is a serious fault in GameGuard's design, else it would be able to identify which program exactly looks like a "hacking tool" or at least won't give different errors under the same circumstances.
I remember going through this exercise when GameGuard was first added (after AshNC promised it wouldn't affect anything that wasn't related to L2) in 2004. They did exactly nothing then. If that thread was still around I'd bet dollars to donuts that the exact same programs are blocked.

MPC-HC player has been blocked since forever, people wrote letters to Koreans, to nc usa, nothing changes. This is how they work.
Running Windows 7 Pro and Razer Synapse ( Naga mouse, Chroma Keyboard and Orbweaver) programme tells me I am using prohibited software i.e. Razer Synapse has to be closed to open client
Personally I fail to see the point of Gameguard. It doesn't stop the bots, it doesn't stop the scripting.
What exactly does it do? (Aside from annoying people who have various other things running legitimately that is.)

You forgot to mention incompatibility with Microsoft Windows OS...i believe that was a problem also at some point...
Windows 10 is coming out tonight at midnight, any news on the gameguard fix?We have a fix (http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=280864) going out tomorrow for GameGuard and Windows 10 compatibility.
There are still some compatibility issues with Microsoft Edge due to a recent patch.
Seems people running kapersky anti virus can run the game fine but if try a 2nd client they get a game guard on the 2nd one.
same problem here, but i'm not using that antivirus, and using Win 7.
Glad you're addressing Razer Synapse - that one's bad!
My Symantec Norton 360 subscription is soon to expire. I'm holding off on it to see if Windows 10 makes it no longer necessary. Norton has a process where it pesters me to do the subscription renewal. GameGuard interprets Norton as a 3rd party program while it's in this nagging-for-renewal mode.
So currently I have to quit Razer Synapse + also put Norton 360 explicitly into Silent Mode or GameGuard accuses me of using third parties programs.
I would guess razer synapse is blocked due to the ability to record macros with time delay repeats. This makes them 3rd party scripts which companies like blizzard banned people for in diablo. Which is also not approved by ncsoft. Personally I would update gameguard or switch to punkbuster and block programs like this more strenuously.
Juji, Hime, etc, please do not allow yet another option for automated scripts in lineage 2

There is also an issue with AMD Gaming Evolved: raptr processor, when it tracks game play the client not loads up all other games works fine only nscoft client not
MPC-HC player has been blocked since forever, people wrote letters to Koreans, to nc usa, nothing changes. This is how they work. :confused:The dev team could not reproduce the issue during testing. Can you send me the .erl files from the GameGuard folder when it blocked the MPC-HC player?

I had Lineage 2, working on Windows 10 at first, but I decided to format my drive and start Windows 10 fresh, and now when I try to install Lineage it fails and wont allow me to install it

The 12-thumb button support is all I care about. And totally above board. This is a good tool for the game and while I'm adamant about blocking cheating tools, the suggestion above is throwing away the baby with the bathwater. Besides - you'll never block peripheral-oriented scripting where it's just doing key/mouse event playbacks.
The cheat scripts that annoy me are not because of timers or loops, they are auto-targeting, auto-acting, etc. Those require reading from the game. Synapse is not reading anything from the game.
so ive noticed when im running the Logitech G software for my G13 and G35 my l2.bin will crash everytime I try to start the game, so I unloaded the software it will work, but then give me a invalid_socket after I try and login, is this something to do with gameguard?
Good Morning,
Can't log in L2EU and L2NA servers at same time.
I am having trouble using the L2 IN and L2 US at the same time.
I plug in L2EU to L2NA and then, after one minute and Box L2EU takes DC.
I played with both servers typically (using frost and Gameguard), now the Frost and Gameguard conflict.
Remember when Chrome was blocked by GG?
When you can virtually not run any other programs while playing L2?
When Ventrillo is blocked unless you run it in administrator mode (still the case now)?
GG tries the solve a very valid problem, the wrong way.
Well I'm not doing anything other than loading the game and L2 bin crashes on me. Obviously I'm running Win 10. Soooo I haven't played in a good while and I was kinda wondering about is this something that needs attention or am I doing it wrong?
First of all, L2 disconnects if I am idle or about every 40 minutes during game time. I get at least 5-6 disconnects with every 2 hours of game play with sometimes getting d/c'd every few minutes.
I uploaded Windows 10 about a month ago and the constant blue screen of death and disconnecting from Lineage is about to make me insane. I am running Windows 10 Home 10.0.10240 Build 10240. I previously had Windows 7 and never had these problems.
I contacted Microsoft and they ran some diagnostics that didn't do anything (although the customer service person seemed to think it fixed something). I had to reset Windows 10, which did nothing except remove my ability to go back to 7.
I'm going nuts here. I keep dying with every d/c. Help?

So upon restarting and doing nothing else on my PC than loading L2 I was able to get in. obviously it's really glitchy with win 10 maybe? So don't do anything, just run L2 and see if it works and then try doing other things.
Really rather annoyed I got zero acknowledgement from an admin on this topic.
